Mercury, a toxic heavy metal, has found its way into cosmetic products, posing serious risks to both skin health and overall well-being. Despite regulatory efforts, some foundations still contain this harmful substance, highlighting the importance of informed consumer choices.

Dr Debeshi Bhattacharjee, MBBS, DALM, FAAM, a renowned clinical cosmetologist and the medical head and founder of Lueur Aesthetics, Northeast’s premier aesthetic clinic, emphasises the severe risks associated with mercury in foundations. Despite regulations, some cosmetic products still contain mercury, making it crucial for consumers to be vigilant about the ingredients in their skincare and makeup products.
