Director SS Rajamouli, accompanied by his son Karthikeya and producer Shobu Yarlagadda, embarked on a special trip to Japan for a screening of their 2022 blockbuster, RRR. While the visit was intended to engage with fans and promote their upcoming project with Mahesh Babu, the trio encountered a frightening experience during their stay.
Karthikeya took to social media platform X to recount the harrowing moment when they felt the tremors of an earthquake. Sharing a picture of his watch displaying an emergency alert, he described the unsettling sensation of the ground shifting beneath them on the 28th floor. Despite his initial panic, Karthikeya was struck by the calm demeanor of the locals amid the quake, quipping, "Experience an earthquake box ticked."
He wrote, "Felt a freaking earthquake in Japan just now!!! Was on the 28th floor and slowly the ground started to move and took us a while to realise it was an earthquake. I was just about to panic but all the Japanese around did not budge as if it just started to rain!!"
Concerned fans flooded the comments section with relief upon learning of the trio's safety, expressing solidarity and offering words of caution amidst potential aftershocks. Meanwhile, Rajamouli shared a heartwarming encounter with an 83-year-old fan who gifted them origami cranes for luck and health, a gesture that deeply touched the filmmaker and his wife, Rama.
Amid their experiences in Japan, Rajamouli also hinted at his upcoming venture, an adventure drama starring Mahesh Babu, currently in pre-production.
As for Karthikeya, the budding producer recently announced two projects featuring acclaimed actor Fahadh Faasil, signaling his foray into independent production ventures. With posters of the upcoming films unveiled on social media, Rajamouli extended his best wishes to Karthikeya and Shobu for their new endeavors, marking a promising step forward in their cinematic journey.
