The latest episode of Kaun Banega Crorepati Season 16 brought Bollywood stars Kartik Aaryan and Vidya Balan to the hot seat, making it a fun and memorable episode. The duo played for charity while sharing personal stories and indulging in candid moments with host Amitabh Bachchan.
As Kartik Aaryan approached the famous hot seat, Amitabh Bachchan jokingly reminded him that the seat belongs to him as the host. Kartik, feeling nervous, confessed his anxiety, which Vidya Balan humorously supported by revealing that Kartik had been anxious ever since learning they’d appear on the show. Kartik’s quick wit shone through as he said he brought Vidya along because of her knowledge, joking, “Sir, inka toh naam hi Vidya hai,” referencing her name, which means ‘knowledge’ in Hindi.
When Amitabh Bachchan mentioned Kartik's science background, Kartik quickly requested not to be asked any science-related questions. Amitabh, ever the entertainer, reassured Kartik by admitting he, too, studied science but had forgotten everything over time.
The episode took an emotional turn when both stars revealed the charitable causes they were supporting. Vidya Balan chose the Hamara Foundation, while Kartik Aaryan played for both the Hamara Foundation and Tata Memorial Hospital. Kartik then opened up about his mother’s battle with cancer, sharing his personal connection to Tata Memorial Hospital. He said, “A few years ago, my mom was diagnosed with cancer. She received treatment at Tata Memorial Hospital, and I’ve seen firsthand the support they provide, even to those who can’t afford it. From that day, I made a promise to give back.”
As the game progressed, the duo tackled their first question for Rs 1,000, which asked them to identify the color shade of ‘Burgundy.’ They confidently selected the correct answer—Red—and moved forward in the game.
The conversation shifted to food when Amitabh Bachchan asked the guests about their favorite dishes. Vidya Balan revealed that her comfort food is Dahi Chawal (curd rice), while Kartik Aaryan shared his love for street-side Chinese food, particularly from a small stall near Big B’s house in Juhu. Kartik humorously recalled how he frequented the stall even during his struggling days, and they eventually named a dish after him—‘Kartik Special.’ Amitabh Bachchan was intrigued and excited, even joking that he would try the dish soon. Vidya, always witty, teased that if Big B visited, the restaurant would probably change its name entirely.
Amitabh Bachchan then narrated a funny incident involving his grandson, Agastya Nanda. While studying in New York, Agastya discovered an Indian restaurant serving a dish named after Amitabh. When Agastya told the staff that Amitabh was his grandfather, they didn’t believe him until he showed them a photo. From that point on, Agastya enjoyed free meals for two years. Big B affectionately called his grandson ‘Shaana’ (smart) for making the most of the situation. Kartik, joining in the banter, humorously added that no matter where he ate in Juhu, they still charged him full price.
As the lighthearted moments continued, Big B praised Kartik Aaryan’s dance moves, asking him how he manages to move every part of his body in perfect coordination. Kartik, ever modest, said, “Sir, there’s a voice from within, and it just happens.” Amitabh then shared a memory from his younger days, recalling how he used to get scolded for not being a great dancer. He joked about a time when he performed in a lit-up costume for the song “Saara Zamana,” explaining that the lights would be plugged in, and only then would he start dancing.
