When it comes to environmental stewardship, Bollywood veteran Jackie Shroff still leads by example. Famous for his decades-long commitment to environmental causes, the actor recently participated in a major afforestation project: a plantation drive of 1000 trees in Lonikand village, which is close to Pune.
The occasion, which took place on July 3, 2025, signalled the start of the Lonikand Biodiversity Park, a project motivated by social responsibility and sustainability.
This significant project is a partnership between the Thinksharp Foundation, an NGO dedicated to enhancing rural education and development, and Dr. Elie Organics, a clean beauty company that promotes environmental harmony.
Dr. Elie Organics is leading the We All Are Connected movement, which includes the drive as part of a larger green campaign with the ambitious target of planting six million trees by 2030.
At the event, Jackie Shroff was seen actively engaging with volunteers, encouraging attendees to treat tree planting as more than just a symbolic act. Speaking on the occasion, he said, “This plantation drive is not just a mere initiative, but through this, we are hoping to grow love, peace, and humanity, something that cannot be destroyed today, or ever in the future. Through this, we aspire to grow something indestructible that actually works for the coming generation, so that they experience the beauty of better living, a healthier and sustainable life. True healing starts when we prioritize the well-being of people and the planet."
In addition to making the area greener, the Lonikand Biodiversity Park hopes to educate and emotionally connect with the local population, teaching the next generation the importance of protecting the environment.
Additionally, the drive supports Jackie's ongoing initiatives to increase public awareness of reforestation, climate change, and sustainable living.
