Diljit Dosanjh speaks on Punjab floods

Punjab is going through one of its worst floods in recent memory, and while relief work is on the way, the voices of solidarity matter just as much. Among them, singer-actor Diljit Dosanjh has come forward with both words of comfort and concrete action.

Taking to Instagram, Diljit shared a video message in Hindi so that, as he said, “his words could reach everyone.” His tone was raw, heartfelt, and deeply personal. “Punjab ke halaat baad ki wajah se bahut kharaab hai. Logo ke ghar beh chukke hai, fassle tabah ho chukka hai, pashu gaaye bhes marr chukke hai. Logo ki zindagiyan barbaad hogyi hai, Punjab zakhmi hai par haara nahi hai (The situation in Punjab is very bad due to the floods. People’s homes have been submerged, crops have been destroyed, and livestock like cows and buffaloes have died. Lives have been ruined; Punjab is wounded but not defeated)" he said.

He reminded people that Punjab had always fought back. “Aisa nahi hai ki raashan paani deke yeh baat khatam hojaayegi. Jab tak unki zindagiyan dobara shuru nahi hojaati hai, hum sab unke saath hai (It’s not as if giving ration and water will solve everything. Until their lives get back on track, we all stand with them.)” he promised, making it clear his commitment wasn’t just symbolic.

Diljit also used the opportunity to thank the unsung heroes — the local NGOs, Punjab’s own media, and especially the state’s young people, who he said had stepped up selflessly. “Punjab ka youth khud aage aaya hai aur is stithi ko sambhaal raha hai. Main sabka bohot bohot dhanyawaad karna chaaunga (The youth of Punjab have stepped forward themselves and are managing the situation. I want to thank everyone very sincerely)” he added.

Diljit ended his message with folded hands and a prayer: “Main ardaas krta hu parmaatma ke aage ke hum sab ko itni shakti de ke hum sab bhai behen milkar iss musibat se baahar nikal aayein (I pray to God to give us all the strength so that we, as brothers and sisters, can come together and overcome this hardship)”
