Telangana, which is currently being governed by the Indian National Congress has a total of 17 Lok Sabha seats, of which three are reserved for Scheduled Caste candidates and two for Scheduled Tribes.

After clinching 64 seats in the 119-seat assembly, Congress formed the government in the state in December 2023, ending 10-year-old rule of the Bharat Rashtra Samiti (BRS) in the southern state.

In the run up to 2024 general elections, the Congress, BJP and BRS have already started an aggressive campaign. The victory in the state assembly polls has boosted the confidence of the Congress, which is sure of increasing its tally in Telangana manifold.

The seats won by the political parties in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections

During the 2019 elections, BRS had emerged as the largest party, winning nine seats, while the BJP came second with four seats, pushing the INC to third place with three seats. The All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen had also secured one seat.

As per Election Commission of India, BRS had managed to secure a vote-share of 41.7 percent, while the BJP managed to get 19.7 percent vote-share and Congress received 29.8 percent. AIMIM’S vote-share was 2.8 percent in the state during the Lok Sabha polls.
