"I can't forget Auditor Ramesh. Aaj Salem ka mera vo Ramesh nahi hai. (Unfortunately today Ramesh is not among us) ... Ramesh worked hard for the party, day and night and he was a good orator. But he was killed. Today I pay my tributes to him," Modi said, while taking a pause during his speech.

V Ramesh, who was an auditor by profession, was a BJP's Tamil Nadu general secretary. The 54-year-old leader was killed in his house by an unknown gang in July 2013.

During his speech, PM Modi also paid rich tributes to the late BJP leader KN Lakshmanan, recalling his contributions for the party's growth in Tamil Nadu.
