Tamil Nadu’s urban Lok Sabha constituencies vote for DMK-led India-Bloc

Even though the region has a DMK stronghold, for the first time, Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a roadshow in T-Nagar to rally support for party candidates, while TN CM MK Stalin also campaigned in various residential neighbourhoods of the constituencies.

Tamil Nadu’s Urban constituencies Madurai, Coimbatore, Sriperumbudur, and Chennai have voted for Dravida Munetra Kazhagam-led India Bloc in Lok Sabha elections 2024.

CPI(M) which is part of DMK won in Madurai constituency and DMK won in Chennai, Coimbatore and Sriperumbudur regions.

Tamil Nadu’s Urban voters, have in the past, raised concerns over the implementation of infrastructure, executing smart city projects, highway-widening projects and urban water planning projects and have sought solutions for flooding and water shortage woes.

Bharatiya Janata Party was betting big on the urban region as it was banking on the youth and professional vote share. Traditionally, the BJP has targeted the urban vote share across Southern states like Karnataka and Telangana.
