Bihar Lok Sabha polls: Key seats and candidates to watch out for:
Patna Sahib: Patna Sahib has been a BJP bastion since the seat came into existence after the 2008 delimitation. The saffron party has fielded former Union Minister and sitting MP Ravi Shankar Prasad, who had defeated actor-turned-politician Shatrughan Sinha in the last general election. Meanwhile, former Lok Sabha speaker Meira Kumar’s son Anshul Avijit has been named as the Congress candidate from the seat.
Avijit, who will be making his electoral debut, has been a national spokesperson of the Congress for many years.
Pataliputra: RJD president Lalu Prasad's eldest daughter Misa Bharti is up against BJP's Ram Kripal Yadav, who is aiming for a hat-trick in the 2024 general election. Kripal joined the saffron party ahead of the Lok Sabha polls in 2014 and rode the Modi wave to beat Bharti, who was making her debut at that time.
The RJD is leaving no stone unturned to ensure the victory of 47-year-old Bharti, who lost the last couple of elections by thin margins.
Arrah: BJP's RK Singh is seeking re-election from the Arrah Lok Sabha constituency, while CPI-ML (Liberation) has named Sudama Prasad as a 'Mahagathbandhan' candidate.
RK Singh had won from the constituency in 2019 general election after securing 5,66,480 votes. Meanwhile, CPI-ML (Liberation) candidate Raju Yadav bagged 4,19,195 votes.
Sasaram: The saffron party has fielded former MLA Shivesh Ram against Congress' Chhedi Paswan from Sasaram. Paswan of the BJP won from the Sasaram constituency in the 2019 Lok Sabha election, securing 4,94,800 votes while Meira Kumar of Congress bagged 3,29,055 votes.
