Women, lover strangle husband; attempt to pass off murder as death by snakebite

In another Meerut shocker, a woman, along with her lover, murdered her husband and then left a snake near his body to have the reptile's bites cover-up their crime.

The victim, Amit Kashyap (25), also called Mickey, was found dead with a viper snake found near his body, according to a report by the Times of India. The crime took place in Akbarpur Sadat village in Behsuma region of Meerut on Sunday morning.

The incident occurred when Amit, who worked as a labourer, returned home on Saturday, ate dinner and slept off. Ravita, his wife, strangled him to death in his sleep. She, along with her lover Amardeep, then left a snake on his bed and spread the news of him dying from snake bite. Villagers gathered and the snake was caught.

Although initial reports suggested death from snake bites, the post-mortem analysis revealed that strangulation was the actual cause of the death.
