A group of miscreants defaced Tipu Sultan’s Summer Palace at Nandigiridhama in Karnataka’s Chikkaballapur taluk by carving the name of gangster Lawrence Bishnoi into the historic structure.

According to a report by Bangalore Mirror, the act of vandalism went unnoticed for days despite the site being under the supervision of the tourism, horticulture, and district police departments. The site falls under the protection of the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI). While CCTV cameras and security personnel are present at the site, none of the cameras are currently functional.

The defacement, which has sparked strong criticism from locals and heritage enthusiasts alike, has left clear engravings of Bishnoi’s name on the centuries-old monument.

Calling it a disgraceful assault on cultural heritage, visitors to Nandigiridhama expressed anger and disappointment over the act. Many have urged authorities to identify and punish the culprits.
