Flight operations at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA) in Mumbai will remain suspended for six hours on Thursday due to scheduled runway maintenance as part of annual post-monsoon infrastructure upkeep.
In a statement released on Tuesday, the airport had confirmed that both runways — the primary (09/27) and secondary (14/32) — will remain temporarily closed from 11 am to 5 pm today. No flights will take off or land at the airport during the shutdown.
CSIMA issues passenger advisory
The CSMIA issued a passenger advisory stating that the scheduled closure is crucial for maintaining safety, operational reliability and compliance with international aviation standards. The airport added that the temporary shutdown will help ensure smooth and secure travel for all passengers.
According to the airport, a mandatory NOTAM (Notice to Airmen) was released six months in advance to alert all relevant stakeholders. This early notice allows airlines to modify their flight schedules well ahead of time and plan their operations accordingly.
