A man died after his car slid into a 30-foot-deep drain in Greater Noida, police officials said on Tuesday. The locals claimed that the man lost his way and fell into the drain due to an app's faulty navigation.

However, the police said that there is currently no proof to back up locals' suspicions that the guy may have been misled by incorrect navigation on his smartphone.

The deceased was identified as Bharat Singh (31), a resident of Mandawali in Delhi who worked as a station master. Bharat was on his way to attend a wedding, with two other men, when the incident took place at Sector P4 of Greater Noida, on March 1, PTI reported.

The men were using a navigation app to find their way from Kendriya Vihar Society of Phi-3 and Phi-2 to Kasna Road Chowk when their vehicle abruptly plunged into the 30-foot-deep Hawalia nala (drain), according to a report by Nav Bharat Times. The driver drove straight into the deep drain, seemingly unaware of the road's end, which was not indicated on the app.
