A historic bungalow in the heart of Lutyens’ Delhi, once the first official residence of India’s founding Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru, has been sold in a monumental property deal worth approximately Rs 1,100 crore.

The property, located at 17 York Road, now known as Motilal Nehru Marg, is one of the capital's most significant addresses. According to an FPJ report, the transaction was finalised after the initial asking price of Rs 1,400 crore was negotiated downwards.

The current owners of the heritage bungalow are Rajkumari Kakkar and Beena Rani, who are reported to be members of a Rajasthani royal family. The estate spans a vast 14,973 square metres (approximately 3.7 acres) and boasts a built-up area of 24,000 square feet.

The identity of the buyer remains confidential, though FPJ cited sources indicating it is a prominent Indian industrialist from the beverage sector. The acquisition is in its final stages, with a top law firm conducting due diligence on the property's legal title.
