A family of 13 tourists from Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh, has accused staff and bouncers at a popular North Goa restaurant of a violent assault, which included the alleged outrage of a woman’s modesty, following a misunderstanding on Saturday night.

Goa police have since registered a First Information Report (FIR) against the manager and security personnel of Romeo Lane Restaurant in Vagator, as reported by TOI.

The incident, as detailed in a complaint by a 24-year-old woman from the family, began innocuously. The family was seated at a table adjacent to one with leftover food and drinks from previous patrons who had already departed. When a late-arriving family member mistakenly picked up the leftover drink assuming that the family was sitting at both the tables, the situation escalated rapidly.

According to the complainant, the restaurant manager began shouting at them and threatened to throw them out, despite the family’s immediate apologies and offer to pay for the beverage. After settling their bill, a second minor incident occurred when a family member accidentally nudged a chair. The manager, who the family alleged appeared intoxicated, responded with offensive language.
