In a swift reversal prompted by passenger demand, the South Central Railway (SCR) has reinstated the Friday operations of the Yesvantpur-Kacheguda Vande Bharat Express, just weeks after announcing its cancellation.
The policy U-turn ensures the popular semi-high-speed train will continue its six-day-week schedule, preserving a crucial weekend travel link between the tech hubs of Hyderabad and Bengaluru.
The initial decision to suspend the Friday service had sparked concerns amongst regular commuters, particularly those who rely on the train for weekend journeys, according to a report by TOI. Faced with consistent public feedback, the railway authorities conducted a review and opted to reverse the move.
A Sridar, Chief Public Relations Officer of South Central Railway, reportedly confirmed the change. While acknowledging operational challenges, he stated that arrangements are being made to accommodate the strong and continued passenger demand for the weekend service.
The decision ensures travellers will retain access to the premium Friday service, a key day for those planning trips or commuting for work between the two cities.
The Yesvantpur-Kacheguda Vande Bharat Express is renowned for its speed and comfort. The service departs from Kacheguda station in Hyderabad at 5.45 am, arriving at Bengaluru’s Yesvantpur by 2.00 pm. The return journey begins at 2.45 pm from Yesvantpur, pulling into Kacheguda at 11.00 pm. The train operates six days a week, with Wednesday remaining its weekly off-day for maintenance.
The SCR had initially cancelled the Friday run to accommodate essential maintenance schedules. However, the zone has since adjusted these plans in direct response to passenger requirements, a move that underscores the growing clout of public opinion in shaping transport policy. The quick reversal also highlights the established popularity of the Vande Bharat fleet on major inter-city routes.
The service, covering approximately 612 kilometres with six intermediate stops, offers two classes of travel: Executive Class and AC Chair Car. Passengers are advised to consult the official Indian Railways website or authorised ticketing platforms for the most current fare information.
