23-year-old Surat model dies by suicide, had tried calling fiance before incident

A 23-year-old freelance model from Surat, Anjali Alpesh Varmora, died by suicide at her residence during the night of June 7 and 8. She was found dead by her family, who returned home to find her room locked from the inside, according to the police.

Anjali had been working as a freelance model for several years and was associated with various studios, engaging in fashion, textile and commercial modelling assignments. Surat Deputy Commissioner of Police Vijay Singh Gurjar confirmed the details of the case while speaking to ANI. He said said Anjali had recently shared her "emotional status" and tried to contact her fiance before the incident.

According to the police, the young model had been engaged and was supposed to get married later this year. However, the wedding was postponed to next year following the death of her fiance’s mother. During preliminary questioning, the fiance told police that Anjali did not appear to be under any stress in recent days, ANI reported.

Investigators said Anjali had posted a few emotionally charged status updates on social media before her death, though none mentioned specific individuals. Her family was not present at the residence when the incident occurred.
