The Vatican's recent announcement about Pope Francis' deteriorating health has reignited discussions around the predictions of 16th-century French astrologer Michel de Nostredame, widely known as Nostradamus. The famed seer, often associated with forecasts of global events, is believed to have predicted the passing of an elderly pope, a prophecy some now link to the pontiff’s current condition.

According to the Vatican, Pope Francis, who has been battling chronic lung disease, remains "alert" but is undergoing intensive treatment, including high levels of oxygen support due to respiratory complications. Reports also indicate that the 87-year-old pontiff has suffered mild kidney failure, adding to concerns about his overall health.

Pope Francis was admitted to Rome’s Gemelli Hospital on February 14 after experiencing severe breathing difficulties. His condition reportedly worsened, leading to a respiratory crisis and the need for a blood transfusion. Vatican officials confirmed that he remains under close observation, with doctors closely monitoring the risk of sepsis—a potentially life-threatening infection.

Nostradamus, often referred to as the ‘prophet of doom,’ gained fame for his cryptic predictions, many of which believers claim have come true over the centuries. His alleged foresight has been linked to major historical events, including the Great Fire of London, Adolf Hitler’s rise, the 9/11 attacks, the COVID-19 pandemic, and even Japan’s New Year’s Day earthquake in 2023.
