Solar Eclipse 2025 (Surya Grahan): A solar eclipse is one of the most remarkable astronomical phenomena, occurring several times each year. It takes place when the Moon passes between the Earth and the Sun, either partially or completely blocking sunlight from reaching our planet.

According to astronomy and the International Astronomical Union (IAU), our solar system consists of eight major planets—Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, and Neptune—all orbiting the Sun in their respective paths. Each of these planets has one or more natural satellites. Among them, the Moon, Earth’s only natural satellite, plays a key role in solar and lunar eclipses. As it continuously orbits Earth, certain alignments allow it to obscure the Sun’s rays, giving rise to the captivating phenomenon of a solar eclipse.

The second solar eclipse of 2025 will occur on Sunday, September 21, 2025, coinciding with the new moon day (Amavasya) of the Bhadrapada month in the Hindu lunar calendar.

This eclipse will be visible in New Zealand, Australia, Antarctica, the Pacific Ocean, and the Atlantic Ocean. However, it will not be visible in India.

From an astrological perspective, the eclipse will occur in the Uttaraphalguni Nakshatra within the Virgo zodiac sign. As with every eclipse, this celestial event is believed to bring both auspicious and inauspicious influences, impacting individuals differently based on their zodiac signs.
