Kingsman Wealth Management has acquired additional over 0.7 percent equity stake in Biopol Chemicals, the specialty chemicals manufacturing company via open market transactions on March 13.

Biopol Chemicals shares rallied 3.39 percent to Rs 100.65 on the National Stock Exchange, following a 3.61 percent decline in previous session.

Bengaluru-based financial services company Kingsman Wealth Management has bought 80,400 equity shares (equivalent to 0.74 percent of paid-up equity) in the company at Rs 96.99 per share, however, D V Investments sold 78,000 shares at Rs 97 per share.

Kingsman Wealth Management, which already held 5.55 percent stake (6 lakh shares) in Biopol as of February 12, also picked up 1.21 percent stake on March 12.

Meanwhile, promoter Mark AB Welfare Trust sold further 1.27 crore equity shares (0.65 percent stake) in SEPC, the EPC company, at Rs 5.31 per share for Rs 6.76 crore.

In previous session, SEPC promoter offloaded 0.48 percent (85 lakh shares).

The investors moved to defensive shares on Friday amid heavy selling across sectors following the ongoing conflict in West Asia, with fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) stocks attracting buying interest.

The Nifty FMCG Index was the only sectoral index trading in the green while other sectoral gauges remained under pressure.

Shares of FMCG companies such as Tata Consumer Products and Hindustan Unilever rose up to 3 percent as investors flocked to defensives.

Meanwhile, analysts at Choice Institutional Equities cautioned that sustained volatility in crude oil prices could pressure gross margins across the FMCG sector.

Crude oil and its derivatives form a significant share of raw material costs, particularly for beauty and personal care companies where they account for about 30–40 percent of the raw material basket. Food-focused FMCG companies have relatively lower exposure, with crude derivatives accounting for roughly 10–15 percent of total raw material costs.

If crude prices rise to USD 100–130 per barrel, the brokerage estimates a potential 100–250 basis point impact on gross margins for most beauty and personal care FMCG players.

To offset the cost pressure, companies may need to implement high single-digit to low double-digit price increases. However, this could lead to near-term volume pressure and potentially reverse the volume recovery seen over the past one to two quarters.

The impact on food-focused FMCG companies is expected to remain limited, as their key raw material exposure is palm oil, which has remained relatively stable.

Analysts at Axis Securities in its February report had cited improving demand conditions and structural growth trends in the sector.

According to the brokerage, results for the December quarter of FY26 indicated signs of a broad-based recovery in consumption sentiment across both urban and rural markets. Most staple companies under its coverage reported gradual strengthening in demand trends, supported by easing inflation, particularly in food categories.

Management commentary across companies also pointed to improving consumer confidence and stabilising purchase behaviour. Volume-led topline growth was visible across several players, suggesting the recovery is not solely price-driven but also consumption-led.

While gross margins remained mixed across companies, the overall trend suggested gradual normalisation. Higher advertising spending undertaken to regain and protect market share has slowed EBITDA margin expansion in the near term, though analysts view this as a strategic investment to support brand strength and growth over the medium term.

The brokerage said the FMCG sector remains structurally attractive, with multiple long-term growth drivers intact. Several product categories remain under-penetrated, particularly in rural markets, leaving scope for volume expansion.

Demand conditions are expected to improve further in the coming quarters, supported by easing inflation, potential interest rate cuts, GST-related reforms and expectations of a favourable monsoon.

Mid and smallcap indices fell up to 2.5 percent on Friday, extending their losses as the ongoing conflict in West Asia and rising crude oil prices weighed on investor sentiment.

The Nifty Midcap 100 index has declined in seven of the nine sessions so far in March, slipping 10 percent. Friday marked the third straight session of losses for the index.

National Aluminium Company (NALCO) and Ashok Leyland were among the major laggards in the Nifty Midcap 100 index, falling 5.55 percent and 4.19 percent, respectively.

The Nifty Smallcap 100 index has also declined in seven out of the nine sessions in March so far, dropping about 10 percent. Friday marked the third consecutive session of decline for the smallcap index.

Laurus Labs and Data Patterns (India) were among the major losers in the Nifty Smallcap 100 index.

The Sensex tumbled 1,579.82 points or 2 percent to 74,454.60 during intra-day trade. The benchmark finally settled at 74,563.92, down 1,470.50 points or 1.93 percent. The Nifty tanked 488.05 points or 2.06 percent to end at 23,151.10.

The Nifty has dropped 5.3 percent this week, marking its biggest drop since June 2022, while Sensex slid 5.5 percent in worst week since May 2020.

Crude oil prices rose after Iranian strikes on two oil tankers raised concerns over possible supply disruptions through the Strait of Hormuz.

Brent crude futures climbed close to USD 100 per barrel on Thursday before trading flat. The global benchmark Brent crude traded marginally higher at around USD 100.5 per barrel on Friday.

Higher crude prices typically weigh on Indian equities as the country imports a large share of its oil requirements. Rising oil costs increase the import bill, widen the current account deficit and add to inflationary pressures.

The company has been declared the ‘preferred bidder’ for the mining lease of the Juipahar New Umrangso Limestone Block (A and B) in Assam. The limestone blocks (A and B) are spread over an area of 405 hectares.

Additionally, the board has approved the acquisition of a 77.96 percent equity shareholding in NECEM Cements.

Max Financial Services

The board has approved fund-raising worth Rs 2,000 crore via a qualified institutional placement (QIP) or any other method.

The proposed utilisation of the funds is primarily to meet the funding requirements of its material subsidiary, Axis Max Life Insurance, to support its business growth and expansion plans, with the balance to be used for general corporate purposes.

Manorama Industries

The board has approved raising funds of up to Rs 500 crore through the issuance of equity shares, non-convertible debt instruments along with warrants or other convertible securities, via a qualified institutional placement or any other method.

Nectar Lifesciences

The company has entered into an inter-corporate loan agreement worth up to Rs 100 crore with Avensis Exports. Avensis Exports is a subsidiary of the company.

Balaji Amines

Balaji Amines is currently experiencing significant logistics disruptions in the procurement of ammonia, one of the key raw materials used in the manufacture of methylamines, ethylamines, and their derivatives, due to the ongoing war in the Middle East region. The situation has arisen due to the non-availability of ammonia.

The disruption has adversely affected the supply of Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG)—a key input used for the production of ammonia by most fertiliser manufacturers in India. Consequently, several ammonia manufacturers have expressed their inability to supply the product during this period due to force majeure conditions.

Therefore, some of the company’s plants are presently non-operational. At present, the financial and operational impact of the shortage of this key raw material cannot be estimated.

Indian Overseas Bank

The bank has reduced the one-month MCLR by 10 basis points, effective March 15, while the MCLR for other tenures remains unchanged.

KPI Green Energy

The company has energised an additional 35 MWp of solar capacity, taking its total operational IPP capacity to 589 MWp.

With projects currently in hand, the company remains well on track to commission an additional 1,582 MWp in the near term, which will expand its total IPP portfolio to 2.17 GWp.

Gravita India

The recycling company has signed definitive agreements for the acquisition of a 98.95 percent stake in Rashtriya Metal Industries for Rs 559.08 crore. The transaction is expected to be closed by March 31, 2026.

Action Construction Equipment

The company has executed a joint venture agreement with Kato Works, Japan.

The collaboration is expected to enhance product competitiveness by improving performance and cost efficiency, while also enabling the partners to address new growth opportunities across domestic and international markets.

Kalpataru

The company has signed a redevelopment project of Shree Mahalakshmi CHS at Andheri West, Mumbai.

The project spans around 3 acres of prime land with a total potential carpet area of 0.4 msf and an estimated gross development value (GDV) of around Rs 1,400 crore.

ACME Solar Holdings

ACME Solar Holdings, through its wholly owned subsidiary ACME Sun Power, has commissioned the second phase of 33.335 MW / 160.51 MWh out of the total 300 MW / 1,409.34 MWh capacity of its battery energy storage system (BESS) project located in Phalodi and Jodhpur, Rajasthan.

The commercial operation date (COD) for the stated Phase II will be March 14. With this, ACME Sun Power has achieved a commissioned capacity of 66.67 MW / 320.99 MWh out of the total 300 MW / 1,409.34 MWh capacity.

Shaily Engineering Plastics

Smallcap World Fund Inc has acquired an additional 2.98 lakh shares in Shaily Engineering Plastics at Rs 1,878.41 per share and 6.43 lakh shares at Rs 1,879 per share, totalling a 2.04 percent stake worth Rs 176.88 crore.

The mutual fund already held a 5.09 percent equity stake in Shaily Engineering Plastics as of December 2025.

Kaynes Technology India

BofA Securities Europe SA has bought 1.16 lakh shares (equivalent to 0.17 percent of paid-up equity) in Kaynes Technology India at Rs 3,614.4 per share, valued at Rs 41.95 crore.

However, Kadensa Master Fund and Bluepearl Map I LP were the sellers in this block deal, offloading 46,934 shares for Rs 16.96 crore and 69,148 shares for Rs 24.99 crore, respectively, at the same price.

IndiaGrid Infrastructure Trust

Neo Real Asset Yield Fund has acquired 15.43 lakh units in IndiaGrid Infrastructure Trust from Sankhya Financial Services at Rs 162.68 per unit for Rs 25.11 crore.

SEPC

Promoter Mark AB Welfare Trust sold 85 lakh shares (0.43 percent stake) in SEPC at Rs 6.24 per share, valued at Rs 5.3 crore.

Filatex Fashions

Promoter Prabhat Sethia has offloaded 4.58 crore shares (0.55 percent stake) in Filatex Fashions at Rs 0.19 per share for Rs 87.2 lakh.

Smallcap World Fund Inc, a mutual fund owned by US-based Capital Group, has acquired additional more than 2 percent equity stake in Shaily Engineering Plastics, the injection moulded precision plastic components maker, via open market transactions on March 12.

Shaily Engineering Plastics shares ended 0.15 percent higher at Rs 1,911.4 amid high volumes on the National Stock Exchange.

Smallcap World Fund Inc has acquired 2.98 lakh shares in Shaily at Rs 1,878.41 per share, and 6.43 lakh shares at Rs 1,879 per share, totalling to 2.04 percent stake worth Rs 176.88 crore.

The mutual fund already held 5.09 percent equity stake in ace investor Ashish Kacholia-backed Shaily Engineering as of December 2025.

Meanwhile, there was block deal in Kaynes Technology India, the IoT solutions-enabled integrated electronics manufacturer, which shares finished the session at Rs 3,700.3, down 0.69 percent.

BofA Securities Europe SA has bought 1.16 lakh shares (equivalent to 0.17 percent of paid-up equity) in Kaynes at Rs 3,614.4 per share, valued at Rs 41.95 crore. The brisk action was also seen in Skipper, the transmission and distribution structure manufacturer, which rallied 3.19 percent to Rs 351.35 on the NSE. Pragya Mercantile has bought 8 lakh shares (0.7 percent stake) in the company at Rs 340.96 per share for Rs 27.27 crore, however, Santosh Industries sold 10 lakh shares (0.88 percent stake) at Rs 345.55 per share, amounting to Rs 34.55 crore.

SEPC shares hit the lowest closing level since December 2021 as it has been in a downward journey since September 2024 with making lower high-lower structure. On Thursday, it plunged 4.45 percent to Rs 6.23, may be after promoter Mark AB Welfare Trust sold 85 lakh shares (0.43 percent stake) at Rs 6.24 per share, valued at Rs 5.3 crore.
