Accenture beat Wall Street expectations for first-quarter revenue on Thursday, driven by artificial intelligence (AI) solutions that help clients integrate the technology to enhance productivity. However, it will stop disclosing standalone advanced AI bookings and revenues, saying the metric has become less meaningful as AI is increasingly embedded across nearly all client work.

The IT consulting firm reported revenue of $18.74 billion, compared with analysts' average estimate of $18.52 billion, according to data compiled by LSEG.

New bookings during the quarter increased 12 percent to $20.9 billion, with consulting bookings of $9.88 billion and managed services bookings of $11.06 billion.

Advanced AI new bookings rose to $2.2 billion in the quarter.

Shares of IT consulting firm were up 2.7% at $281.15 premarket after beating revenue estimates.

Operating margin for the quarter declined to 15.3 percent from 16.7 percent a year earlier, reflecting business optimisation costs.

<strong>Segment, regional performance</strong>

Consulting revenues rose 4 percent year-on-year to $9.41 billion, while managed services grew faster at 8 percent to $9.33 billion.

Geographically, revenues from the Americas increased 4 percent to $9.08 billion. EMEA revenues grew 8 percent to $6.94 billion, while Asia Pacific rose 7 percent to $2.73 billion.

Among industry groups, financial services led growth with a 14 percent increase in revenues, followed by communications, media and technology, which grew 9 percent.

Health and public service revenues were flat year-on-year.

<strong>Outlook unchanged</strong>

Accenture maintained its full-year fiscal 2026 outlook, continuing to expect revenue growth of 2 to 5 percent in local currency. Excluding an estimated 1 percent impact from its US federal business, revenue growth is expected to be 3 to 6 percent in local currency.

The company now expects the operating margin to be in the range of 15.2 to 15.4 percent, for the full year.

The decision to discontinue Gen AI revenue numbers will take effect from the current quarter, making the first quarter of fiscal 2026 the last period in which the company separately reports advanced AI bookings and revenue figures.

The company said demand for AI continues to mature rapidly, with clients moving beyond standalone proofs of concept toward scaled, end-to-end solutions that integrate multiple forms of AI.

As a result, isolating revenue and bookings tied specifically to advanced AI no longer reflects how demand is evolving or the full scope of AI-driven work being delivered. AI capabilities are now embedded across a wide range of consulting and managed services engagements, making separate disclosure less representative of the value being created.

The shift also comes as Accenture expands its AI footprint across clients and internal operations. The company has surpassed 1,300 advanced AI clients to date, deployed more than 3,000 reusable AI agents, and commenced company-wide agentic AI training during the quarter. It is nearing its target of 80,000 AI and data professionals globally.

PhysicsWallah reported an almost 70 percent year-on-year (YoY) increase in its net profit to Rs 69.7 crore in the second quarter (Q2) of financial year 2025-26 (FY26), compared to Rs 41.1 crore in the same period a year ago. The company had posted a profit of Rs 127 crore in the previous quarter, according to regulatory filings.

The edtech major, in its first quarterly results post-IPO, also reported a revenue from operations of Rs 1,051.2 crore, up 26 percent YoY from Rs 832.2 crore in the year-ago period. It had reported a revenue of Rs 1847.1 crore in the previous quarter.

Total expenses for the Noida-based firm increased 25 percent to Rs 999.6 crore in the quarter ended September, up from Rs 800 crore a year ago and Rs 1,054.2 crore a quarter ago.

PhysicsWallah said its online and offline businesses both contributed meaningfully to the quarter’s performance. In the first half of FY26, the company’s paid user base increased 29 percent year-on-year to 3.62 million from 2.99 million a year ago. Of this, online paid users rose to 3.22 million from 2.68 million in the year-ago period, while offline student enrolments climbed to 0.40 million from 0.31 million.

The company’s offline expansion continued at a steady pace, with its total centre count rising to 314 in H1 FY26 from 186 a year ago. This included 117 PW Vidyapeeth centres and 75 PW Pathshala centres, along with 53 other PW centres and 69 subsidiary centres. The company also reported a faculty base of 6,643 across employees and consultants.

Profitability saw further improvement during the quarter, with adjusted EBITDA margins expanding to 26 percent in Q2 FY26 from 23 percent a year earlier, aided by operating leverage. PhysicsWallah’s profit after tax margin improved to 7 percent in the September quarter from 5 percent in Q2 FY25.

The edtech firm also highlighted strong user engagement across its platforms, with daily average users at 3.5 million and average engagement time of 103 minutes. Its social media community now exceeds 125 million subscribers across platforms.

The company said it continues to see significant opportunity beyond its core JEE and NEET segments, particularly across foundation classes, civil services, government exams, defence courses, GATE, commerce, MBA, CA and upskilling. It also flagged state boards and vernacular-language categories as its next major growth drivers.

PhysicsWallah also recently launched ‘Pi’, a low-ticket, distraction-free learning platform priced between Rs 300 and Rs 400, aimed at unlocking monetisation from new learner segments outside its traditional paid ecosystem.

On December 8, PhysicsWallah’s shares on BSE closed 1.95 percent higher at Rs 138.55 apiece.
