Jio Financial Services Ltd (JFSL) reported a consolidated profit of Rs 269 crore for the third quarter ended December 31 as the company's total income more than doubled from a year earlier, led by sharp growth in its core businesses.

Consolidated total income for Q3 FY26 doubled to Rs 901 crore from a year earlier, reflecting higher contribution from lending, payments, asset management and other fee-based businesses. Pre-provisioning operating profit increased 7 percent to Rs 354 crore, with the company noting that income growth was partly offset by higher expenses in line with scaling up across businesses.

A key highlight of the quarter was the rising share of income from operating businesses. Net income from core businesses accounted for 55 percent of consolidated net income in Q3 FY26, compared with 20 percent in the year-ago period.

Transaction processing volume at Jio Payment Solutions climbed 2.6 times year-on-year to Rs 16,315 crore, while gross fee and commission income jumped 4.6 times to Rs 96 crore, with the company maintaining a consistent unit-level gross margin of about 10 basis points.

At Jio Payments Bank, total income grew 10-fold to Rs 61 crore, supported by a sharp rise in transaction throughput. Deposits stood at Rs 507 crore as of December 31, up 94 percent on-year, while the customer base expanded to 3.2 million.

The asset management business, operated through the Jio-BlackRock joint venture, reported assets under management of Rs 14,972 crore across 10 funds, with a retail investor base of one million. The company said a significant portion of inflows came from beyond the top 30 cities, with a growing share of first-time mutual fund investors.

Jio Financial Services said its diversified portfolio now includes businesses in various stages of growth, ranging from scaled-up verticals such as lending, payments, asset management and insurance broking to incubation-stage ventures including wealth management, securities broking and reinsurance, with continued investments aimed at building long-term platforms.

“They’re using agents in several of our service lines to help enhance either growth or productivity,” CEO and managing director Salil Parekh said during the company’s post-earnings press conference on January 14.

Parekh added that Infosys’ usage of agents is already spreading across its service lines, adding that the company sees a strong base of AI work among its largest clients. Moreover, Infosys has generated over 28 million lines of code using Gen AI till now, a <a href="https://www.moneycontrol.com/artificial-intelligence/infosys-delivering-over-2-500-gen-ai-projects-chief-delivery-officer-satish-article-13627449.html">12 percent increase sequentially</a>.

In contrast, LTIMindtree has built about 1,500 AI-powered “digital employees”, deploying them across finance, infrastructure operations and customer service, as it pushes for nonlinear growth in the AI era. The CEO said AI agents are not just changing how existing work gets done, but are unlocking a fresh wave of programmes that were earlier not economically viable.

Parekh pointed specifically to legacy modernisation, arguing that software agents combined with Infosys’ understanding of the client’s technology landscape can alter the economics for enterprises.

“That allows a lot of these projects which were not happening before to start happening,” Parekh said, describing it as a shift where work that was not being done earlier will now begin.

On how agent-led delivery could reshape pricing models, Parekh said billing is still based on “traditional ways” and any change will evolve gradually as the AI market matures.

The same announcement repeated on his flight back to Bengaluru.

“Infosys lawyers showed up at the Bengaluru airport to receive the employee and take him home. Infosys plans to sue the ICE agents in the US,” the post said.

Infosys, India’s second-largest IT firm, reported a Rs 1,289 crore exceptional charge in its December quarter earnings report on account of the statutory impact of new labour codes.

The Bengaluru-headquartered firm said it assessed and disclosed the incremental impact of these labour law changes on the basis of legal opinion obtained and the best information available.

The adjustments for labour codes represent an increase in gratuity liability arising out of past service cost and an increase in leave liability, together by Rs 1,289 crore, which is recognised in the Consolidated Statement of Comprehensive Income.

Operating margins came under pressure during the quarter. Reported operating margin declined to 18.4 percent from 21.3 percent a year ago, reflecting higher costs and the impact of labour code-related provisions. On an adjusted basis, operating margin stood at 21.2 percent during the quarter.

In constant currency terms, Infosys posted revenue growth of 1.7 percent year-on-year and 0.6 percent sequentially. The company also reported strong large-deal activity, with total contract value (TCV) of $4.8 billion in Q3, of which 57 percent was net new, providing support to medium-term revenue visibility.

Against this backdrop, Infosys raised its FY26 revenue growth guidance to 3.0-3.5 percent in constant currency terms, while reiterating its operating margin outlook of 20-22 percent for the year.

Commenting on the quarter, CEO and Managing Director Salil Parekh said Infosys delivered a strong performance driven by its enterprise AI-led offerings, adding that clients are increasingly viewing the company as a strategic AI partner with strong delivery capabilities.

“Our performance was broad-based in Q3 with sequential revenue growth, margin expansion on an adjusted basis, stellar large-deal wins and robust free cash flow generation in a seasonally weak quarter,” Chief Financial Officer Jayesh Sanghrajka said, adding that the company remained focused on disciplined capital allocation.

Infosys also reported free cash flow of Rs 8,176 crore for the quarter, with adjusted free cash flow of Rs 8,626 crore, translating into a conversion of over 113 percent of adjusted net profit.

Ahead of the results announcement, Infosys shares rose 0.6 percent to close at Rs 1,608.9 on the NSE. The stock has declined more than 17 percent over the past year, underperforming the benchmark Nifty 50, which has gained about 11 percent during the same period.
