ICICI Lombard General Insurance Company on April 15 reported a profit after tax (PAT) for Q4 FY26 rose 7.3 percent to Rs 547 crore, compared to Rs 510 crore in the same quarter last year.

On a reported basis, PAT stood at Rs 539 crore, up 15.6 percent year-on-year.

Profit before tax (PBT) also showed growth, rising 7.5 percent year-on-year to Rs 718 crore in Q4 FY26, compared to Rs 668 crore in Q4 FY25.

A key metric for general insurers, the combined ratio improved to 101.2 percent in Q4 FY26, compared to 102.5 percent in Q4 FY25.

The improvement indicates better underwriting discipline and cost management, even as the ratio remains above the breakeven level of 100 percent.

On the balance sheet front, the company maintained a strong capital position, with the solvency ratio at 2.67x as of March 31, 2026, comfortably above the regulatory requirement of 1.50x.

However, it was slightly lower than 2.69x reported as of December 31, 2025, impacted by mark-to-market losses in the equity portfolio.

In terms of business growth, Gross Direct Premium Income (GDPI) for the quarter grew 18.2 percent year-on-year, outpacing the industry growth of 10.9 percent, highlighting continued market share gains.

In the corresponding period of the previous fiscal year, it logged a profit of Rs 509.59 crore, the company said in a regulatory filing dated Wednesday, April 15.

Its total income stood at Rs 6,618.76 crore during the quarter under review, reflecting a 17.12 percent year-on-year jump from Rs 5,651.17 crore in the March quarter of FY25.

ICICI Lombard General Insurance Company’s board of directors also recommended a final dividend of Rs 7 per equity share, at the rate of 70 percent, with a face value of Rs 10 each for the financial year ended March 31, 2026, subject to approval of members at the ensuing Annual General Meeting (AGM).

The company added that the dividend on equity shares will be paid to eligible members after approval at the AGM.

ICICI Lombard GIC had a total market capitalisation of Rs 92,921.11 crore as of April 15, 2026, according to data from the National Stock Exchange of India.

Non-bank lender HDB Financial Services posted a 41.4% rise in fourth-quarter profit on April 15, supported by healthy loan demand and a sequential improvement in asset quality.

Net profit rose to Rs 751 crore for the quarter ended March 31, from Rs 531 crore a year earlier.

The firm's interest income rose 13% to Rs 4,081 crore in Q4FY26 as against Rs 3,623 crore in the year-ago period.

The Board of Directors of the company has recommended a final dividend of Rs 2 per equity share of the face value of Rs 10 each for the financial year ended March 31, 2026.

The company's board also approved borrowing of funds by issue of debt securities on private placement basis, in one or more tranches, worth up to Rs 32,825 crore.

On April 15, HDB Financial Services shares closed 4.8% higher at Rs 644.3 apiece. The results were announced in the post-market hours. The company is a subsidiary of HDFC Bank.

Asset under management (AUM) was Rs 1,18,733 crore as on March 31, 2026 compared to Rs 1,07,262 crore as on March 31, 2025, a growth of 10.7%.

Gross Loan Book stood at Rs 1,18,493 crore as on March 31, 2026 compared to Rs 1,06,878 crore as on March 31, 2025, a growth of 10.9%

A prolonged slowdown in the agency channel has pushed ICICI Prudential Life Insurance to recalibrate its distribution strategy, with a sharper focus on micro-markets to revive growth.

The agency channel has remained under pressure through FY24, FY25 and into Q4 FY26, where it declined about 18 percent on a lower base. Addressing analysts during the April 14 earnings call, CEO Anup Bagchi said the company is doubling down on a “micro-market-led distribution strategy” to counter the weakness.

The approach involves targeting specific local geographies using data and analytics to improve agent productivity and deepen customer penetration.

Bagchi attributed the slowdown largely to a high base effect from previous years but maintained that the long-term growth trajectory remains intact. The agency channel has delivered a compound annual growth rate of 12–13 percent over the past few years, he said, adding that growth should normalise as the base effect fades.

“As the base effect goes, I think it will come back,” he noted, pointing to a more granular execution model as the key lever for recovery.

CFO Dhiren Salian said the company is shifting away from aggressive expansion through branch additions or agent hiring. Instead, it is identifying “growth centres” using data-driven insights to improve productivity at the micro-market level.

He acknowledged that growth in the agency business has been muted and said the company is working to address the slowdown through targeted, segment-wise interventions.

The distribution mix has also shifted. The agency channel’s contribution to annualised premium equivalent (APE) declined to 25 percent in FY26 from 30 percent in FY25, even as banca and partnership channels gained share — underscoring a broader recalibration amid evolving customer preferences.

On accounting changes, Salian said the company will seek regulatory forbearance for a year to transition to Ind AS norms, citing operational challenges and lack of clarity on key elements such as the computation of contractual service margin (CSM).

“It is too short a time for us to transition, especially since we go live with our results within the first 15 days of the quarter. We will wait for clarity from the joint expert group,” he said.

On capital, Salian noted that the Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India has advised insurers to continue with the existing solvency framework until the risk-based capital (RBC) regime is implemented. The company’s solvency ratio remains strong at over 220 percent.

He also flagged a marginal impact on new business sales in March due to geopolitical tensions in West Asia, though the extent remains difficult to quantify. The impact was seen across segments, except protection products, which remained resilient.

Persistency ratios showed some pressure across cohorts. The 13th-month persistency decline was partly driven by the annuity segment, while the company is also seeing emerging weakness in the 25th-month cohort — a relatively new trend.

Salian said some slippage from the 13th month appears to be flowing into the 25th month, pointing to evolving customer behaviour that the company is closely monitoring.

On financial performance, ICICI Prudential Life reported a sharp jump in profitability. Profit after tax rose 57.8 percent year-on-year to Rs 609 crore in Q4 FY26, compared with Rs 386 crore a year earlier.

For the full year FY26, profit grew 34.6 percent to Rs 1,600 crore.

On the business front, new business received premium increased 30.6 percent year-on-year to Rs 9,719 crore in Q4, while APE stood at Rs 10,641 crore for FY26, up 16.4 percent.

For the full financial year FY26, PAT rose 34.6 percent year-on-year to Rs 1,600 crore.

On the business front, new business received premium grew 30.6 percent year-on-year to Rs 9,719 crore in Q4FY26, while annualised premium equivalent (APE) stood at Rs 10,641 crore for FY26, registering a growth of 16.4 percent year-on-year.

Retail protection APE saw strong momentum, rising 32.3 percent year-on-year to Rs 791 crore in FY26, with H2FY26 witnessing robust growth of 50.9 percent year-on-year.

The company reported Value of New Business (VNB) of Rs 965 crore in Q4FY26, while FY26 VNB grew 10.9 percent year-on-year to Rs 2,629 crore, with a margin of 24.7 percent.

Operational performance remained healthy, with the claim settlement ratio at 99.3 percent and an average turnaround time of 1.1 days for non-investigated individual death claims in FY26. Persistency ratios stood at 84.5 percent for the 13th month and 71.8 percent for the 49th month.

On the balance sheet side, assets under management (AUM) stood at Rs 3.14 lakh crore as of March 31, 2026. The solvency ratio remained strong at 227.3 percent, well above the regulatory requirement of 150 percent.

Embedded value (EV) increased 10.5 percent year-on-year to Rs 52,989 crore, while return on embedded value (RoEV) stood at 11.9 percent for FY26.

The company has proposed a final dividend of Rs 1.65 per equity share for FY26, subject to shareholder approval at the upcoming annual general meeting. It also announced product expansion with launches such as the ‘ICICI Pru Global Wealth Multiplier’ and ‘ICICI Pru Smart Kid 360’ aimed at catering to diverse customer needs.

Operational efficiency improved during the year, with savings-related cost-to-premium ratios improving by 40 basis points to 12.1 percent, reflecting cost optimisation initiatives.

On governance and leadership updates, the company announced the appointment of Mr. Amish Banker as Chief Distribution Officer, effective April 14, 2026.

It also approved the appointment of Chaturvedi &amp;amp; Co LLP as a new joint statutory auditor for a four-year term following the retirement of Walker Chandiok &amp;amp; Co LLP at the upcoming annual general meeting.

ICICI Prudential AMC reported a stable operational performance for the quarter ended March 31, 2026, as well as the financial year 2026. The revenue from operations rose for the quarter, while profitability improved. For the full financial year FY2026, the topline jumped over 23 percent year-on-year, while the profit also rose in double-digits.

The capital markets firm posted revenue from operations of Rs 1,517 crore for the quarter, higher compared to Rs 917 crore posted in the March quarter of FY25. Operating profit grew 30 percent to Rs 1,128 crore, up from Rs 866 crore.

Profit for the period rose to Rs 763 crore, up 10 percent YoY compared to Rs 692 crore. However, on a sequential basis, the firm's profit fell 17 percent QoQ, given market volatility.

ICICI Pru AMC also reported a strong financial performance in FY2026, with revenue from operations rising 23 percent year-on-year to Rs 5,765 crore, compared to Rs 4,683 crore in FY2025. Operating profit grew 29 percent to Rs 4,171 crore, up from Rs 3,236 crore a year ago. Profit for the year increased 24 percent to Rs 3,298 crore, compared to Rs 2,651 crore in FY2025.

The firm reported a mixed trend in its AUM for the quarter ended March 31, 2026, with some pressure in active equity segments. QAAUM, or Quarterly Average Assets Under Management, refers to the average value of assets managed by the fund house over the quarter, offering a more stable view than point-in-time AUM.

The company’s total mutual fund QAAUM stood at Rs 11,048 billion, with a 13.5 percent market share, while active MF QAAUM was Rs 9,206 billion (13.7 percent market share). Equity schemes accounted for Rs 6,204 billion with a 14.2 percent share.

Equity hybrid funds remained a strong performer, with QAAUM of Rs 2,177.97 billion and a 26.7 percent market share. The alternates and PMS segment stood at Rs 730 billion.
