Provisions and contingencies for the quarter surged 45 percent to Rs 2,631 crore from Rs 1,820 crore a year earlier. The private sector lender accelerated write-offs and increased provisioning in its microfinance portfolio, where the industry is facing cyclical pressures, said IndusInd Bank Managing Director and CEO Rajiv Anand.

<h3><strong>Asset quality stable</strong></h3>
The bank’s asset quality remained largely stable despite the challenging environment. Gross non-performing assets (GNPA) ratio stood at 3.60 percent as of September 30, 2025, compared with 3.64 percent at the end of June 2025, while net NPA (NNPA) improved to 1.04 percent from 1.12 percent. Provision coverage ratio (PCR) rose to 71.81 percent from 70.13 percent in the previous quarter.

Total loan-related provisions stood at Rs 10,443 crore, representing 3.2 percent of the loan book.
<h3><strong>Capital and liquidity position strong</strong></h3>
IndusInd Bank’s capital adequacy remained robust, with its total capital adequacy ratio (CRAR) under Basel III guidelines at 17.10 percent as of September 30, 2025, compared with 16.51 percent a year earlier. Tier 1 capital ratio stood at 15.88 percent. The bank’s liquidity coverage ratio averaged 132 percent during the quarter, well above regulatory requirements.

“The bank has strong capital adequacy with CRAR of 17.10 percent, liquidity with average LCR of 132 percent, and sequentially improved GNPA and NNPA, providing a strong foundation as we work towards delivering sustainable growth,” Anand said.

The balance sheet size contracted to Rs 5.27 lakh crore from Rs 5.43 lakh crore a year ago.

Fee and other income fell 24.4 percent to Rs 1,651 crore from Rs 2,185 crore in the year-ago quarter. The pre-provision operating profit (PPOP) dropped 43 percent to Rs 2,047 crore from Rs 3,600 crore.

Revenue also jumped 20% to Rs 19,607 crore compared to Rs 16,294 crore in the same period last year.

The Aditya Birla Group company's domestic grey cement volumes grew by 6.8 percent on a consolidated basis to 31.58 million tonne per year (MTPA), driven by growth in infrastructure and real estate, even as some pockets were affected due to monsoons and lack of sand availability.

Earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortisation (EBITDA) on a consolidated basis was up by 45 percent year-on-year to Rs 3,268 crore, while sales realisation on a per tonne basis was higher by 4.5 percent over the same period to Rs 5,088, reflecting price growth after a weak 2024.

Except raw material costs, which increased by 5 percent in the July-September quarter, all other key cost components, namely logistics, fuel and power, declined for the reported period, with power costs declining due to an increased share in green power sources. The lead distance reduced to 366 kilometres during the quarter, compared to 370 kilometres for the April-June quarter.

<strong>Mega capex plans</strong>

The cement major also approved Rs 10,255 crore plan for capacity expansion. It will add 22.8 MTPA capacity in phases starting from FY28.

In a presentation detailing the expansion plan, UltraTech said that the company expects to have a cement capacity of 240.8 MTPA by March 2028, including 5.4 MTPA in capacity overseas, mainly in the United Arab Emirates. In the current phase of expansion, UltraTech expects to commission around 26.1 MTPA in capacity till March 2027, when capacity is expected to reach 218 MTPA.

Much of the capacity addition announced on Saturday is expected to be done under UltraTech, while incremental capacity addition- of around 0.6 MTPA- is planned under its subsidiary The India Cements Ltd. The company is focusing on the north and west markets for capacity addition, with earlier expansion projects centred around eastern and southern territories.

UltraTech noted in the presentation that the capacity addition is slated to be funded entirely through internal accruals, at a rate of $52 per tonne. In contrast, UltraTech's acquisition of India Cements' was done at a rate of $120 per tonne.

State-owned lender, Punjab National Bank on October 18 reported a 14 percent year-on-year rise in its net profit to Rs 4,904 crore in the second quarter of the current financial year.

recording growth of 5.5 percent and 6.5 percent, respectively on YoY basis.

Net Interest Income for H1FY26 was at Rs 21,047 crore recording growth of 0.26 percent on YoY
basis. Total Income for Q2FY26 was at Rs 36,214 crore and Rs 73,445 crore for H1FY26 recording
a growth of 5.1 percent and 10.3 percent, respectively on YoY basis.

Total Interest Income for Q2 was at Rs 31,872 crore, which was up by 6.7 percent year-on-year. Total Interest Expenses for Q2FY26 was at Rs 21,403 crore and Rs 42,789 crore for H1FY26, increased by 10.6 percent and 14.3 percent, respectively on YoY basis.

GNPA ratio improved by 103 bps on YoY basis to 3.45 percent as on September 30, 2025 from 4.48 percent as on September 30, 2024. NNPA ratio improved by 10 bps on YoY basis to 0.36 percent as on September 30, 2025 from 0.46 percent as on September 30, 2024.

Gross Non-Performing Assets declined by Rs 7,239 crore to Rs 40,343 crore as on September 30, 2025 from Rs 47,582 crore as on September 30, 2024. Net Non-Performing Assets declined by Rs 648 crore to Rs 4,026 crore as on September 30, 2025 from Rs 4,674 crore as on September 30, 2024.

Savings Deposits increased to Rs 5,08,964 crore registering a YoY growth of 4.2 percent, and Current Deposits increased to Rs 74,215 crore registering a YoY growth of 9.0 percent.

Total Term Deposit witnessed a growth of 14.7 percent on YoY basis to Rs 10,33,902 crore as
on September 30, 2025.

Total Retail credit increased by 8.8 percent YoY to Rs 2,72,210 crore as on September 30, 2025. The bank grew under Retail Advances excluding IBPC recording a YoY growth of 18.1 percent.

Within Retail Advances excluding IBPC: Housing Loan grew by 12.9 percent YoY to Rs 1,24,099 crore, and Vehicle loan posted a growth of 30.9 percent YoY to reach Rs 29,512 crore.

Agriculture advances grew by 13.0 percent on YoY basis to Rs 1,83,987 crore and MSME advances increased YoY by 18.6 percent to Rs 1,79,220 crore.

Punjab National Bank Q2 net profit rises 14% YoY to Rs 4,904 crore

State-owned lender, Punjab National Bank on October 18 reported a 14 percent year-on-year rise in its net profit to Rs 4,904 crore in the second quarter of the current financial year.

Operating Profit for Q2FY26 increased to Rs 7,227 crore and to Rs 14,308 crore for HY1FY26
recording growth of 5.5 percent and 6.5 percent, respectively on YoY basis.

Net Interest Income for H1FY26 was at Rs 21,047 crore recording growth of 0.26 percent on YoY
basis. Total Income for Q2FY26 was at Rs 36,214 crore and Rs 73,445 crore for H1FY26 recording
a growth of 5.1 percent and 10.3 percent, respectively on YoY basis.

Total Interest Income for Q2 was at Rs 31,872 crore, which was up by 6.7 percent year-on-year. Total Interest Expenses for Q2FY26 was at Rs 21,403 crore and Rs 42,789 crore for H1FY26, increased by 10.6 percent and 14.3 percent, respectively on YoY basis.

GNPA ratio improved by 103 bps on YoY basis to 3.45 percent as on September 30, 2025 from 4.48 percent as on September 30, 2024. NNPA ratio improved by 10 bps on YoY basis to 0.36 percent as on September 30, 2025 from 0.46 percent as on September 30, 2024.

Gross Non-Performing Assets declined by Rs 7,239 crore to Rs 40,343 crore as on September 30, 2025 from Rs 47,582 crore as on September 30, 2024. Net Non-Performing Assets declined by Rs 648 crore to Rs 4,026 crore as on September 30, 2025 from Rs 4,674 crore as on September 30, 2024.

Savings Deposits increased to Rs 5,08,964 crore registering a YoY growth of 4.2 percent, and Current Deposits increased to Rs 74,215 crore registering a YoY growth of 9.0 percent.

The current account savings account (CASA) ratio improved 94 basis points to 31.01 percent, with CASA deposits up 10.7 percent to Rs 89,591 crore.

Total income during the quarter grew 3.8 percent on-year to Rs 7,824.3 crore. The provision coverage ratio remained strong at 73.45 percent, and the capital adequacy ratio (CRAR) stood at 15.71 percent, up from 15.20 percent a year earlier. Net worth rose nearly 12 percent year-on-year to Rs 34,820 crore.

Managing Director and CEO K.V.S. Manian said the bank’s strategic reorientation and disciplined growth focus were beginning to show results. “Our CASA franchise continues to demonstrate sustained and meaningful growth, reflecting customer trust and consistent execution. We’re broadening our asset mix thoughtfully and strengthening our foundation for the future,” he said in a statement.
