Promoters have offloaded nearly 4 percent equity stake in Taj GVK Hotels &amp; Resorts, a joint venture between the Hyderabad-based GVK Group and Indian Hotels Company, via open market transactions on December 30.

<a href="https://www.moneycontrol.com/india/stockpricequote/hotels/tajgvkhotelsresorts/TGV">Taj GVK Hotels</a> shares fell 0.75 percent to Rs 429.35 amid volatility after hitting highest level (intraday) since September 23, closing near the upper Bollinger bands.

Promoters - Starlight Trust sold 12.5 lakh shares in the hotel chain for Rs 52.54 crore at Rs 420.34 per share, and Moonshot Trust also offloaded 12.5 lakh shares at Rs 420 per share for Rs 52.5 crore, which totalled to 3.98 percent stake.

However, Nippon India Equity Opportunities AIF - Scheme 9 has acquired 7.08 lakh shares for Rs 29.73 crore, and Nippon India Equity Opportunities AIF - Scheme 7 picked up 8.12 lakh shares for Rs 34.14 crore, at a price of Rs 420 per share.

Meanwhile, <a href="https://www.moneycontrol.com/india/stockpricequote/castingsforgings/ramkrishnaforgings/RF17">Ramkrishna Forgings</a>, the forged components maker, was also in focus. Morgan Stanley Asia Singapore Pte has bought 18.75 lakh shares at Rs 506.7 per share for Rs 95 crore, however, Societe Generale sold 14.75 lakh shares at Rs 506.75 per share for Rs 74.74 crore.

The stock price declined 1.04 percent to finish at Rs 507.55 on the NSE.

Dhunseri Ventures sold 1.22 lakh shares (half a percent stake) in <a href="https://www.moneycontrol.com/india/stockpricequote/miscellaneous/shankarabuildingproducts/SBP02">Shankara Building Products</a> at Rs 101.71 per share for Rs 1.2 crore. The stock corrected 7.11 percent to Rs 101.1, the all-time closing low. The stock has been under severe selling pressure since August this year, losing 91 percent in five months.

The brokerage estimates potential annualised sales from semaglutide in Asia and Africa at USD 25–30 million from the second half of FY28, with EBITDA margins of 50–55 percent.

It expects Ajanta Pharma’s overall revenue and profit to grow at a compound annual growth rate of 11 percent and 16 percent, respectively, over FY26–28.

Motilal Oswal reiterated its “buy” rating on the stock and maintained a target price of Rs 3,145, implying an upside of about 17 percent.

The company’s surplus cash position provides enough cushion to acquire products that complement its branded generics portfolio. In fact, the company has meaningfully scaled its acquired brands over the past 12 months, the brokerage said.

In emerging markets, AJP is pursuing an asset-light, marketing-led model and will source semaglutide from Biocon under an in-licensing arrangement. The company has exclusive or semi-exclusive marketing rights across 23 countries in Africa and three countries in the Middle East and Central Asia. With patents expiring in Mar’26 and approvals expected between late 2026 and early 2027, this structure enables AJP to capture upside without assuming manufacturing risk, it added.

<h3><strong>Hopes for strong December auto sales data:</strong></h3>
Analysts expect the automakers to post strong auto sales for the month of December. Nuvama Wealth Management said that these firms will continue to benefit from lower GST, which has led to better demand, Informist reported.

The brokerage expects double-digit year-on-year growth in sales volumes across categories for the month, it added.

"Sales volumes are likely to be driven by continued positive customer sentiments spurred by better affordability (courtesy GST cuts), new products, interest rate cuts and adequate finance availability despite some pressure on rural sentiments due to a drop in retail crop prices…Furthermore, we reckon exports shall rise in double digits led by growth in Asia, Africa, and Latin America," the domestic brokerage further said, as quoted by Informist.

"The auto sales numbers expected in two days will give an indication of the sustainability of the consumption boom in the economy. This is significant from the economic growth perspective, too," said VK Vijayakumar, Chief Investment Strategist, Geojit Investments.
<h3><strong>Strong IIP data:</strong></h3>
The rise in the auto stocks may have also bee driven by <a href="https://www.moneycontrol.com/news/business/economy/industrial-output-rebounds-to-over-two-year-high-of-6-7-in-november-13746973.html">strong IIP numbers</a>. India’s industrial production rebounded sharply in November, with the Index of Industrial Production (IIP) rising 6.7 percent—a 25-month high—from just 0.5 percent in October, data released on December 29 showed.

The recovery was broad-based, with strong improvement across all three major sectors. Manufacturing, which accounts for over 75 percent of the index, accelerated to an over two-year high of 8 percent, up from 2 percent in the previous month, providing the biggest boost to headline growth.

"Sector-wise, while auto stocks gained on robust IIP data," said Vinod Nair, Head of Research, Geojit Investments.
<h3><strong>Top gainers on the auto index:</strong></h3>
<a href="https://www.moneycontrol.com/india/stockpricequote/auto-23-wheelers/heromotocorp/HHM">Hero MotoCorp</a> shares emerged as the top gainer on the index, jumping more than 2 percent to snap a three-session gaining streak. Ashok Leyland and <a href="https://www.moneycontrol.com/india/stockpricequote/auto-23-wheelers/bajajauto/BA10">Bajaj Auto</a> shares also jumped more than 2 percent each, while Mahindra &amp; Mahindra (<a href="https://www.moneycontrol.com/india/stockpricequote/auto-carsjeeps/mahindramahindra/MM">M&amp;M</a>) and TVS Motor Company shares gained nearly 2 percent each.

Bharat Forge and <a href="https://www.moneycontrol.com/india/stockpricequote/auto-lcvshcvs/tatamotorspassengervehicles/TM03">Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles</a> shares rose nearly 1 percent each. Maruti Suzuki shares gained nearly 2 percent earlier during the day to hit a fresh all-time high of Rs 16,818 apiece, before paring some gains to close 0.5 percent higher at Rs 16,625 apiece.

Sona BLW Precision Forgings, Bosch and UNO Minda shares closed in the green with marginal gains. Bucking the trend, Royal Enfield-maker <a href="https://www.moneycontrol.com/india/stockpricequote/auto-lcvshcvs/eichermotors/EM">Eicher Motors</a>, Exide Industries and Tube Investments of India shares fell more than 1 percent each.

Bijli's pledges were created on December 24 for "personal borrowing". Ajay Bijli held 5.5 percent stake in the company, as at the end of the April-June quarter of the ongoing financial year.

PVR Inox shares have fallen nearly 4 percent in the past five days, and over 9 percent in the past one month. The stock rose over 2.5 percent in the past six months, but is down over 24 percent in 2025 so far.

Earlier this month, the stock saw a brief surge as Ranveer Singh-starrer Dhurandhar created new box office records. However, the stock then failed to hold on to the momentum.

PVR Inox shares fall 2% after promoter Ajay Bijli pledges 4 lakh shares

The shares of PVR Inox dropped more than 2 percent on December 30 after the company announced that its promoter and managing director Ajay Bijli pledged around 4 lakh shares of the company for personal borrowing.

The shares of the theatre chain closed at Rs 996 apiece on Tuesday, the lowest level seen by the stock in nearly five months.
