The shares of Max Financial Services hit a fresh record high on November 12 as brokerages remained positive despite the firm reporting a sharp fall in net profit and revenue during the second quarter of the ongoing FY26. Aavas Financiers shares meanwhile jumped nearly 8 percent.

Max Financial Services shares rose nearly 5 percent to hit a fresh 52-week high of Rs 1,715.2 apiece. Aavas Financiers shares meanwhile gained nearly 8 percent to trade at a three-month high of Rs 1,748.70 apiece.

Max Financial Services Q2 Results:

<a href="https://www.moneycontrol.com/india/stockpricequote/finance-investments/maxfinancialservices/MI">Max Financial</a> on November 11 reported a consolidated net profit of Rs 4.12 crore for the second quarter of the financial year 2026. This marks a 96 percent year-on-year (YoY) decrease from the Rs 112.56 crore reported in the corresponding quarter of the previous financial year.

The firm’s revenue from operations meanwhile fell nearly 27 percent YoY to Rs 9,792 crore in Q2 FY26, from Rs 13,371.86 crore in Q2 FY25. It said that its value of new business (VNB) has increased by 27 percent YoY in the first half of the ongoing financial year 2026 (April-September).

JM Financial noted that the company has reported a APE and VNB growth of 15 percent and 27 percent YoY respectively during the quarter under review. It added that while growth was in line, VNB margin of 25.5 percent was a positive surprise.

"This was led by a margin-accretive product mix –ULIP volumes declined while annuity and protection grew 122%/34%. Also, par and non-par business grew 41%/17% YoY. While we had anticipated the mix shift away from ULIPs towards non-linked savings, we had expected margins to be adversely affected by GST 2.0," the domestic brokerage said.

Jefferies said that better product mix and positive yield curve moves lifted profit margins. The international brokerage has named Max Financial as its top insurance pick.

Motilal Oswal said the company maintains better-than-industry APE growth trajectory. It attributes strong expansion of VNB margin to rise in contribution of protection, non-par and annuity businesses.

Aavas Financiers Q2 Results:

The firm’s revenue from operations meanwhile rose over 15 percent YoY to Rs 667 crore.

The firm’s assets under management (AUM) grew 16 percent YoY to Rs 21,356.6 crore, while net interest margin improved 26 basis points to 8.04 percent during the quarter under review.

PL Capital kept an ‘Accumulate’ call on the stock, with a target price of Rs 1,900 apiece. This implies an upside potential of more than 17 percent from the stock’s previous closing price.

The domestic brokerage noted that the firm saw a good quarter led by better margins, higher fees &amp; assignment income and lower opex. “While company has guided to medium term growth of 20% per annum, its larger size and competition for bigger HFCs to scale up affordable housing, could hinder credit flow or pricing,” it noted.

Motilal Oswal kept a ‘Neutral’ call on the stock, with a target price of Rs 1,800 per share. This implies an upside potential of more than 11 percent from the stock’s previous closing price.

The domestic brokerage has raised its FY26/FY27 EPS estimates by 4 percent/2 percent to factor in higher assignment income. “For a re-rating in its current valuation multiples, we believe that the company will need to deliver on its guided AUM growth and exhibit better readiness for an acceleration of its AUM growth from FY27 onwards,” it said.

Tata Power Q2 Results:

The Tata Group-company reported a consolidated net profit of Rs 919.44 crore for the July-September quarter of FY26. This marks a marginal decrease of nearly 0.8 percent year-on-year (YoY) from the Rs 926.53 crore net profit reported in the corresponding quarter of the previous financial year.

The firm's revenue from operations also dropped slightly, falling nearly 1 percent YoY to Rs 15,544.91 crore in Q2 FY26, from Rs 15,697.67 crore in Q2 FY25. The company noted that operations at Mundra Power plant have been suspended since July 3 to undertake pending overhauling activities aimed at resolving existing technical issues.

"Tata Power is very well positioned to expand further with 10 GW of clean capacity under construction including a healthy pipeline of 5 GW Hybrid and FDRE projects. The Company’s backward-integrated solar manufacturing facilities are operating at full capacity, with ALMM-listed modules and cells supporting the 'Make in India' clean energy push," said Praveer Sinha, CEO &amp; Managing Director, Tata Power.

"The rooftop solar segment continues to lead the industry with record installations, while our Discoms drive service excellence across a growing customer base of over 13 million. With proposed amendments to the Electricity Act, Tata Power is well positioned to expand its distribution footprint to 40 million consumers by 2030. Motilal Oswal has a 'Buy' rating on the stock, with a target price of Rs 500 per share. This implies an upside potential of more than 26 percent from the stock's previous closing price. The domestic brokerage said that the firm's EBITDA and PAT came below its estimates.

Motilal noted that the weakness in results was largely attributable to Mundra plant shutdown during the quarter, which offset the stronger performance at Odisha distribution and the solid ramp-up at TP Solar on a YoY basis.

JM Financial on Tata Power:

JM Financial also maintained its 'Buy' rating for the stock, while raising the target price to Rs 475 apiece. This implies an upside potential of more than 20 percent from the stock's previous closing price.

The stock then dropped 1.5 percent to close at Rs 330 apiece, marking a rise of 26.56 percent from the discovery price. Its market capitalisation at the end of the debut day stands at Rs 1,21,516.94 crore.

The commercial vehicle segment will officially be known as Tata Motors. The shares of the passenger vehicle segment, known as <a href="https://www.moneycontrol.com/india/stockpricequote/auto-lcvshcvs/tatamotorspassengervehicles/TM03">Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles</a>, were discovered at a price of Rs 400 apiece on NSE on October 14.

About Tata Motors demerger:

Earlier this year, the company fixed October 14 as the record date for determining the eligibility of the shareholders set to receive shares in its demerged commercial vehicle business. This means that investors who held Tata Motors shares as on the record date will be eligible for the demerger scheme. The demerger has already officially become effective from October 1.

Following the demerger, the passenger vehicle arm was subsequently renamed Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles (TMPVL), while the commercial vehicles entity was <a href="https://www.moneycontrol.com/news/business/markets/tata-motors-cv-shares-list-at-28-premium-after-demerger-from-passenger-vehicle-business-13669745.html">listed today as Tata Motors</a> (TML).

In August last year, Tata Motors' board approved the demerger of its commercial and passenger vehicle divisions into two separate listed entities in order to sharpen business focus and capitalise on future growth opportunities. The 1:1 demerger created two focused entities - Tata Motors Commercial Vehicles (TMCV) and Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles (TMPV).

What analysts say about the demerger:

The demerger separates the fast-growing passenger vehicle and EV business from the more stable, cash-generating CV business, allowing investors to value each on its own strength, Jahol Prajapati, research analyst at SAMCO Securities said in a note. The demand for commercial vehicles is expected to rise sharply, with improving freight activity, ease in commodity costs, and the GST rate cut. Fleet replacement and new demand from construction and logistics players will add further momentum.

"The listing removes the 'conglomerate discount' and gives investors a focused bet on India's commercial vehicle upcycle — a steady, cash-rich, value-driven play backed by improving policy and economic tailwinds," he said.

For the month of October, the company's commercial vehicle sales rose 10 percent on year to 37,530 units, marking its highest monthly sales since March. Domestic commercial vehicle sales in October grew over 7 percent on year to 35,108 units and exports were up over 56 percent at 2,422 units.

Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles share price:

Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles shares fell 1.3 percent to close at Rs 402.30 apiece. The stock has so far gained more than 0.5 percent since adjusting to the demerger in October.

In August last year, Tata Motors' board approved the demerger of its commercial and passenger vehicle divisions into two separate listed entities in order to sharpen business focus and capitalise on future growth opportunities. The 1:1 demerger created two focused entities - Tata Motors Commercial Vehicles (TMCV) and Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles (TMPV).

What analysts say about the demerger:

The demerger separates the fast-growing passenger vehicle and EV business from the more stable, cash-generating CV business, allowing investors to value each on its own strength, Jahol Prajapati, research analyst at SAMCO Securities said in a note. The demand for commercial vehicles is expected to rise sharply, with improving freight activity, ease in commodity costs, and the GST rate cut. Fleet replacement and new demand from construction and logistics players will add further momentum.

&quot;The listing removes the 'conglomerate discount' and gives investors a focused bet on India's commercial vehicle upcycle — a steady, cash-rich, value-driven play backed by improving policy and economic tailwinds,&quot; he said.

For the month of October, the company's commercial vehicle sales rose 10 percent on year to 37,530 units, marking its highest monthly sales since March. Domestic commercial vehicle sales in October grew over 7 percent on year to 35,108 units and exports were up over 56 percent at 2,422 units.

Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles share price:

Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles shares fell 1.3 percent to close at Rs 402.30 apiece. The stock has so far gained more than 0.5 percent since adjusting to the demerger in October.
