HDFC Life Insurance Company

The Board will consider a proposal on April 16 for raising funds by issuing equity shares through a preferential issue, along with the announcement of audited standalone and consolidated financial results for the quarter and year ended March 2026, and the recommendation of a final dividend, if any.

Tata Steel

The company has completed the acquisition of the remaining 10,000 equity shares (0.01 percent stake) in its subsidiary, Tata Steel Colors, from BlueScope Steel Asia Holdings Pty Ltd for Rs 0.03 crore. Post this transaction, the company’s shareholding in Tata Steel Colors has increased from 99.99 percent to 100 percent, and accordingly, Tata Steel Colors has become an indirect wholly owned subsidiary of the company.

Poonawalla Fincorp

The company has launched its qualified institutional placement (QIP) issue on April 9. The floor price for the offer has been fixed at Rs 390.26 per share.

Saatvik Green Energy

The company’s subsidiary, Saatvik Solar Industries, has received an order worth Rs 108.75 crore from independent EPC players for the supply of solar PV modules.

IFB Industries

The Board has approved the appointment of Manoj Kumar Vijay as an Additional Director in the category of Non-Executive Independent Director for a period of two years, effective April 9. SpiceJet

A UK court has ordered India’s SpiceJet to pay about $8 million to an aircraft engine lessor over unpaid rent and maintenance charges for three engines, in the latest setback for the cash-strapped airline.

London’s Commercial Court granted summary judgment on Wednesday in favour of Sunbird France 02 SAS over the unpaid rent and maintenance accruals, finding that SpiceJet had no viable defence.

GDN Ventures, a limited liability partnership firm based in Rajasthan, has acquired 1.37 percent equity stake in fertility care company Gaudium IVF and Women Health via open market transactions on April 9.

Gaudium IVF and Women Health shares may have reacted to the transaction, spiking 12.56 percent to Rs 89.17 amid high volumes. The stock listed on the bourses on February 27, rising nearly 13 percent from its issue price of Rs 79 per share.

GDN Ventures, owned by partners Gaurav Karnawat and Neelima Karnawat, has bought 10 lakh shares (1.37 percent stake) in Dr Manika Khanna-promoted Gaudium IVF for Rs 8.58 crore. The buying price was Rs 85.84 per share.

Meanwhile, Arihant Capital Markets has acquired 3.98 lakh shares (0.9 percent stake) in pharma company Sai Parenterals at Rs 423.13 per share, valued at Rs 16.84 crore. The stock rose 0.23 percent to Rs 422.7 on the National Stock Exchange.

The action was also seen in Striders Impex, which fell 0.67 percent to Rs 67, and Marushika Technology, which rose 1.63 percent to Rs 99.55.

Singapore-based Longthrive Capital VCC through its Trendview Capital Fund sold 1.37 lakh Striders Impex shares at Rs 67 per share, valued at Rs 92.19 lakh, and offloaded 43,200 Marushika Technology shares at Rs 97.9 per share, amounting to Rs 42.29 crore.

The action was also seen in Expo Engineering and Projects, which shares rallied 6.85 percent to Rs 69.9 on the BSE. Minerva Ventures Fund has acquired 6 lakh shares (2.6 percent stake) in the engineering company for Rs 4.19 crore at a price of Rs 69.88 per share, however, Niraalie Meynon sold 5.75 lakh shares (2.52 percent stake) at Rs 69.9 per share, valued at Rs 4.01 crore.

Financial shares were among the top losers in Thursday’s trade, with the Nifty Bank index falling up to 2 percent, in line with the decline in benchmark indices Sensex and Nifty. All 14 constituents of the banking index were trading in the red. The Nifty PSU bank and the private bank index also slipped up to 2 percent.

The fall comes after five consecutive sessions of gains in the index, during which it had risen about 10.5 percent, triggering profit booking by investors.

Sunny Agrawal, Head of Fundamental Research at SBI Securities, said that today’s movement is more a case of profit booking. Banking stocks have rebounded significantly—from recent lows of around 50,000 to nearly 56,000—and this rally is prompting investors to lock in gains.

&quot;Nothing has changed fundamentally, infact, yesterday’s RBI policy decision was in line with expectations, and the change in NPA provisioning norms for capital adequacy computation augurs well for banks. This is likely to enhance liquidity and support healthier credit costs, especially in an environment where deposit mobilisation has become challenging. Looking at the provisional business updates, the banking sector appears well positioned to deliver 13–15 percent credit growth this quarter. Therefore, the underlying fundamentals remain intact,&quot; he added.

Shares of HDFC Bank, State Bank of India, Canara Bank and Punjab National Bank were among the major laggards, declining up to 3 percent.

HDFC Bank was among the worst performers on both the banking index and the benchmark Nifty. The stock snapped its five-day gaining streak and fell 2.8 percent to hit an intraday low of Rs 793.10 on the NSE.

IndusInd Bank and Kotak Mahindra Bank followed, declining 2.28 percent and 2.14 percent, respectively.

Other heavyweights, including ICICI Bank, State Bank of India, Punjab National Bank and Axis Bank, were down between 1 percent and 2 percent.

Canara Bank and Yes Bank were trading lower by up to 1 percent.

Shares of oil marketing companies, including Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd (BPCL) and Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd (HPCL), declined on Thursday as investors remained cautious amid renewed geopolitical concerns and uncertainty over resumption of regular flow at the Strait of Hormuz.

Oil marketing companies came under pressure as tensions in West Asia pushed crude oil prices higher again, raising concerns over a squeeze in refining and marketing margins.

Shares of Hindustan Petroleum Corporation fell up to 1 percent to Rs 362.5 per share on the NSE. Indian Oil Corporation dropped up to 0.77 percent to Rs 142.24, while Bharat Petroleum Corporation traded on a flat note.

Brent crude rose 2.09 percent to USD 96.73 per barrel. Higher oil prices are seen as negative for India, the world’s third-largest crude importer, as they could widen the fiscal deficit, stoke inflation and weigh on economic growth.

Investor sentiment turned cautious after Iran said it would be &quot;unreasonable&quot; to pursue talks with the United States following Israel’s strikes on Lebanon.

Conflicting signals ahead of planned US-Iran talks on Saturday, including Tehran’s warning of retaliation, have raised concerns that any ceasefire may be temporary.

&quot;The fresh uncertainty around the durability of the Iran war de-escalation has limited follow-through optimism in markets and kept sentiment in check,&quot; said Hariprasad K, founder of Livelong Wealth.

Shares of Eternal also declined 1.5 percent to Rs 240.03 per share on the NSE. The ongoing crisis has impacted restaurant operators, which rely on LPG for kitchen operations, while food delivery platforms have also been affected due to disruptions faced by restaurant partners, potentially impacting order fulfilment.

In a market short on fresh triggers, several stocks quietly stole the spotlight on Thursday, driven purely by price action, technical breakouts, and sustained buying momentum.

Among the gainers, India Tourism Development Corporation surged 13.03 percent to Rs 512.30, trading above its 30-day and 50-day moving averages of Rs 453.23 and Rs 485.06, respectively. Antony Waste Handling Cell gained 8.98 percent to Rs 496.00, moving above its 30-day and 50-day averages of Rs 455.13 and Rs 484.53. Rajputana Industries rose 8.05 percent to Rs 74.90, also trading above its key short-term averages.

Sheel Biotech advanced 9.48 percent to Rs 57.75, crossing above its 30-day moving average, while Mukta Arts gained 7.36 percent to Rs 50.50, trading above its 30-day average but remaining below longer-term levels.

On the downside, several stocks witnessed negative breakouts, slipping below key moving averages and indicating weakening momentum.

Rushil Decor declined 6.44 percent to Rs 15.10, trading below its 30-day and 50-day moving averages of Rs 16.14 and Rs 17.65. JHS Svendgaard fell 3.29 percent to Rs 19.97, breaching its key short-term averages and remaining well below its long-term levels.

eClerx Services dropped 2.73 percent to Rs 1,496.80, trading below all major moving averages, including its 30-day, 50-day, 150-day and 200-day levels. Ecos (India) Mobility declined 2.67 percent to Rs 127.00, falling below its key averages, while BlackBuck slipped 2.26 percent to Rs 569.45, trading below its 30-day and 50-day moving averages.

The breakout above short-term moving averages indicates strengthening momentum in select stocks, while declines below these levels signal weakening trends, with traders closely watching for confirmation of further direction.
