First Water Fund, a part of First Water Capital founded by Arun Chulani and Kunal Bhakta in 2017, has picked up additional 0.75 percent stake in Uflex, the packaging solutions provider, via open market transactions on December 11.

<a href="https://www.moneycontrol.com/india/stockpricequote/packaging/uflex/U01">Uflex</a> gained 0.28 percent to Rs 468.55 on Thursday, but overall, it has been falling since October and lost more than 20 percent from October high.

First Water Fund has bought 5.45 lakh shares (equivalent to 0.75 percent of paid-up equity) in the company for Rs 25.07 crore at Rs 460 per share, from K2 Family Private Trust.

Additionally, on December 3, both have exchanged 3 lakh shares of Uflex at Rs 477 per share.

As a result, perhaps, the shareholding of First Water Fund might have increased to 3.64 percent, from 2.47 percent seen at the end of September 2025.

Uflex has recorded profit of Rs 26.91 crore in the quarter ended September 2025, against loss of Rs 64.62 crore in the same period last year (which was impacted by exceptional loss of Rs 92.64 crore). However, the revenue was almost flat at Rs 3,832 crore against Rs 3,833.4 crore in the same period.

Meanwhile, the block deal was also seen in <a href="https://www.moneycontrol.com/india/stockpricequote/banks-private-sector/yesbank/YB">Yes Bank</a>, the private sector lender, which rose 1 percent to Rs 21.94, trading in a range for third consecutive day after falling sharply on Monday.

BNP Paribas Financial Markets acquired 1.77 crore equity shares (0.05 percent stake) in the bank for Rs 37.4 crore at Rs 21.08 per share, from Copthall Mauritius Investment.

<a href="https://www.moneycontrol.com/india/stockpricequote/steel-sponge-iron/gallanttispat/GI">Gallantt Ispat</a> has also seen exchange of shares, which declined 0.61 percent to Rs 593.95. The stock has been consolidating for a month now especially after hitting swing high of around Rs 680 in November.

Gallantt Industry has bought 9.67 lakh shares (0.4 percent stake) in Gallantt Ispat for Rs 57.05 crore at Rs 590 per share, from K and K Ventures.

Hubtown on December 10 announced that after it received in-principle approval from BSE and NSE for its proposed preferential issue of shares, the prospective investors expressed their unwillingness to participate in the issue. The company cited "current market conditions marked by uncertainties and volatility" and delay in approval by BSE and NSE as the reasons for lack of investor interest.

"In view thereof, we hereby inform you that the Proposed Preferential Issue stands withdrawn. As a result, the Company will not be proceeding further with the issue and allotment of equity shares of the Company as part of the Proposed Preferential Issue, as initially proposed," the company said.

Hubtown assured all stakeholders that the withdrawal of the preferential issue plan will not have any material impact on its business operations or financial stability. It added that it may explore alternative ways to raise capital as may be required for the business.

Hubtown's board of directors had approved the proposal to issue nearly 1.47 crore equity shares of the company on a preferential basis to private investors on August 30. The application for in-principal approval was submitted to BSE and NSE on September 2.

The shareholders of the company approved the proposed preferential issue at its Extraordinary General Meeting (EGM) held on September 23 this year. Subsequently, BSE and NSE gave their respective in-principle approvals for the proposed preferential issue at a price of not less that Rs 341 per share to non-promoters on December 5.

Notably, the issue price was more than 14 percent higher than December 5 closing level of Rs 298.5 per share.
<h3><strong>Hubtown share price history:</strong></h3>
Hubtown shares have fallen around 24.5 percent in the past five days, and around 30 percent in the past one month. The stock has however gained more than 20 percent in the past six months, but is down around 14 percent in 2025 so far.

India's pension regulator has revised investment rules for pension funds, allowing more diversification and subsequently better returns. Analysts explained why this is expected to benefit midcap stocks more than smallcaps.

The Pension Fund Regulatory and Development Authority (PFRDA) on December 10 announced that it will now let <a href="https://www.moneycontrol.com/news/economy/policy/india-s-pension-regulator-widens-investment-options-for-funds-13720325.html">private pension funds to invest in the top 250 stocks</a> by market capitalisation listed on Indian stock markets.

Earlier, these funds could only invest in a list of 200 stocks approved by the trust of the National Pension Scheme. PFRDA has now also permitted these funds to invest in gold and silver ETFs, which have seen strong surge this year so far.

The changes, which were announced in a circular on Wednesday and came into effect immediately, are aimed to increase the popularity of pension funds by allowing a wider suite of investment options of customers.
<h3><strong>Midcaps are the 'clear winners':</strong></h3>
PFRDA's revised norm related to allowing private pension funds invest in top 250 companies is a clear positive for midcaps ranked between 201 to 250, said Naren Agarwal, CEO of Wealth1. "It brings a new class of long-horizon, rules-based buyers into the tail of the Midcap 150, improving liquidity, index inclusion stability and price discovery in that cohort," he said.

With the private pension ecosystem now overseeing approximately Rs 1,500–1,600 crore in assets, even modest equity allocations can create steady, "non-hot-money" demand for qualifying midcaps, especially the profitable, free-float-friendly names in industrials, manufacturing, and services, the analyst said.

Naren Agarwal expects bid-support to be most visible around rebalancing windows and new-fund launches, with the benefit accruing over quarters rather than days.

Abhinav Tiwari, Research Analyst at Bonanza, noted that PFRDA's expansion will help both midcap and smallcap stocks, but the benefits will be stronger and more direct for midcaps. "NPS inflows are 'sticky' since they come from regular contributions and not market sentiment, which helps support valuations even during corrections," he said.

Midcaps also tend to attract more institutional money than smallcaps because they offer better liquidity, more reliable disclosures and lower volatility, the analyst noted. "As funds compete within the top 250 stocks, many midcaps will enjoy more stable ownership and stronger valuation floors," he added.

Tiwari called midcaps the "clear winners" because of direct allocation and valuation support.

Ranju Ranjan, Head of Managed Accounts at Axis Securities, agreed with the other two analysts that midcaps will benefit from the rule change. "These companies will now qualify for steady, long-term institutional inflows that can improve liquidity, reduce volatility, and potentially support valuation re-rating. Since pension funds are large and conservative investors, the newly eligible midcaps may see more stable demand over time. Overall, the rule change structurally benefits midcaps the most, while smallcaps remain largely unaffected as they still fall outside the investable universe," the analyst said.

However, Agarwal noted that the flow will be gradual as pension funds' equity caps and glide-paths limit one-off surges and parts of midcaps already trade with rich valuations. "So fresh demand will still discriminate on earnings quality, cash conversion and disclosure standards. Net-net, the change structurally favours midcaps at the boundary, while smallcaps must continue to earn capital the hard way—through delivery, not taxonomy," he added.

Abhinav Tiwari from Bonanza meanwhile said that smallcaps may see some indirect positives from the rule change, but the structural exclusion from pension funds remains a major limitation.

Benchmark indices Sensex and Nifty also recovered after a three-day decline, supported by buying in banking, auto and metal stocks and a rate cut by the US Federal Reserve.

The Sensex rose 426.86 points or 0.51 percent to settle at 84,818.13. It touched an intra-day high of 84,906.93 and a low of 84,150.19.

The Nifty advanced 140.55 points or 0.55 percent to finish at 25,898.55. After early volatility, the index moved higher through the session and ended near the day’s peak of 25,922.80.

The shares of the industrial machinery-maker rose to Rs 624.75 apiece on Thursday, snapping an eight-session losing streak.
<h3><strong>Shakti Pumps announcement:</strong></h3>
Shakti Pumps announced that it has received a letter of empanelment from the Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company for 16,025 off-grid DC Solar Photovoltaic Water Pumping Systems (SPWPS) pumps for the entire state of Maharashtra under Magel Tyala Saur Krushi Pump Yojana/PM Kusum B Scheme.

The company said that the total value of the 16,025 pumps stands at around Rs 443.78 crore, including GST. The said domestic order is scheduled to be completed within 60 days.

As part of the order, Shakti Pumps will design, manufacture, supply, transport, install, test and commission the off‐grid DC Solar Photovoltaic Water Pumping Systems in Maharashtra.

Today's sharp rise in the share price comes a day after the stock hit a 52-week low of Rs 548.45 per share. The stock has gained nearly 2 percent in the past five days, but fell around 17 percent in the past one month. It fell around 36 percent in the past six months, and is down over 44 percent in 2025 so far.

Shakti Pumps' P/E ratio stands at over 16. It has a market capitalization of more than Rs 7,690 crore.

Shakti Pumps shares jump 13% as firm wins Rs 444-crore order for solar pumps from MSEDCL

The shares of Shakti Pumps jumped more than 13 percent on December 11 after the company announced that it has received an order from Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company (MSEDCL)

The shares of the industrial machinery-maker rose to Rs 624.75 apiece on Thursday, snapping an eight-session losing streak.

Shakti Pumps announced that it has received a letter of empanelment from the Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company for 16,025 off-grid DC Solar Photovoltaic Water Pumping Systems (SPWPS) pumps for the entire state of Maharashtra under Magel Tyala Saur Krushi Pump Yojana/PM Kusum B Scheme.

The company said that the total value of the 16,025 pumps stands at around Rs 443.78 crore, including GST. The said domestic order is scheduled to be completed within 60 days.

As part of the order, Shakti Pumps will design, manufacture, supply, transport, install, test and commission the off‐grid DC Solar Photovoltaic Water Pumping Systems in Maharashtra.
Shakti Pumps share price:
Today's sharp rise in the share price comes a day after the stock hit a 52-week low of Rs 548.45 per share. The stock has gained nearly 2 percent in the past five days, but fell around 17 percent in the past one month. It fell around 36 percent in the past six months, and is down over 44 percent in 2025 so far.

Shakti Pumps' P/E ratio stands at over 16. It has a market capitalization of more than Rs 7,690 crore.
