Societe Generale, the French bank, has acquired nearly 0.7 percent equity stake in Gokaldas Exports, the leading apparel manufacturer, via open market transactions on February 4.

<a href="https://www.moneycontrol.com/india/stockpricequote/textiles-readymade-apparels/gokaldasexports/GE05">Gokaldas Exports</a> continued to attract buying interest especially after the US announced trade deal by cutting tariff rate to 18 percent from 50 percent on Monday night, giving a major relief for several export segments including textile, as the stock was locked in 20 percent upper circuit for second consecutive session.

The stock lost 44 percent from its high of November 20 till January 27 followed by few days of consolidation and the spurt seen in the past two days.

As per the bulk deals data on Wednesday, Societe Generale has bought 5.02 lakh shares (equivalent to 0.68 percent of paid-up equity) in Gokaldas Exports at Rs 807.18 per share for Rs 40.5 crore.

The company earned more than 82 percent revenue from exporting to the United States in the fiscal 2025, against 86 percent in previous year, as per its annual reports. In terms of numbers, the exports to the US stood at Rs 2,594.6 crore of total exports finished goods of Rs 3,130 crore in FY25, rising sharply from Rs 1,693.2 crore of Rs 1,955.2 crore in FY24.

The US tariff impact reflected in the quarterly numbers of October-December 2025. Profit fell sharply by 71 percent to Rs 14.6 crore, down from Rs 50.3 crore in the corresponding quarter of previous fiscal, though revenue saw a marginal decline of 0.92 percent to Rs 978.65 crore against Rs 987.76 crore in the same quarters.

The company reported an EBIDTA (earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation) of Rs 96 crore (falling 18 percent YoY) with margins at 9.7 percent (down 202 bps YoY) in Q3FY26, impacted mainly due to US tariff rebates, the company in its filing said.

Meanwhile, BNP Paribas Financial Markets has exchanged shares of <a href="https://www.moneycontrol.com/india/stockpricequote/finance-investments/adityabirlacapital/ABC9">Aditya Birla Capital</a>, <a href="https://www.moneycontrol.com/india/stockpricequote/banks-private-sector/federalbank/FB">Federal Bank</a>, <a href="https://www.moneycontrol.com/india/stockpricequote/banks-public-sector/indianbank/IB04">Indian Bank</a>, and <a href="https://www.moneycontrol.com/india/stockpricequote/aluminium/nationalaluminiumcompany/NAC">National Aluminium Company</a> with Societe Generale via block deals on the BSE.

BNP Paribas Financial Markets has acquired 20.91 lakh shares (0.07 percent stake) in Aditya Birla Capital at Rs 344 per share for Rs 71.93 crore from Societe Generale, while Societe Generale sold 31 lakh shares (0.12 percent stake) in Federal Bank at Rs 287 per share for Rs 88.97 crore to BNP Paribas Financial Markets.

BNP Paribas Financial Markets has bought 6.18 lakh shares (0.02 percent stake) in Indian Bank at Rs 873 per share for Rs 53.95 crore, and 11.2 lakh shares (0.06 percent stake) in National Aluminium Company at Rs 374 per share for Rs 41.88 crore from Societe Generale.

Societe Generale, the French bank, has acquired nearly 0.7 percent equity stake in Gokaldas Exports, the leading apparel manufacturer, via open market transactions on February 4.

Gokaldas Exports continued to attract buying interest especially after the US announced trade deal by cutting tariff rate to 18 percent from 50 percent on Monday night, giving a major relief for several export segments including textile, as the stock was locked in 20 percent upper circuit for second consecutive session.

The shares of the newly-listed company closed in the red on February 3 after Q3 results.

The shares of the company dropped 7 percent to hit an intraday low of Rs 36.10 apiece on Wednesday, before recovering some losses. At close, the stock was down nearly 3 percent at Rs 37.58 apiece.

<h3><strong>Sigachi Industries CEO gets bail:</strong></h3>
In a press release, Sigachi Industries said that it continues to extend its full cooperation to the investigating authorities and the judicial process to ensure that the matter is addressed in a fair and transparent manner.

“This has been a period of deep sorrow and strain for everyone affected by the incident, especially the families who lost their loved ones and those who continue to recover from injuries. Our thoughts remain with them,” it said.

“We reiterate our deepest condolences and solidarity with the families of the deceased, those who were injured, and all others impacted by this tragic incident. In addition to fulfilling our responsibilities toward those affected, we remain dedicated to strengthening safety systems and practices across our operations to ensure the ongoing well-being of our workforce and the community,” Sigachi Industries said.
<h3><strong>Sigachi Industries explosion:</strong></h3>
One of the chemical reactors at the pharma factory located in Telangana's Pashamylaram in Sangareddy exploded during operations on June 30 last year, injuring several employees. In an exchange filing, the company said that the fire which broke out resulted in loss of lives and several injuries.

Sigachi Industries had said that the incident damaged its ancillary equipment and civil structures within the facility. "While the core manufacturing infrastructure has suffered damage, the operations at the plant will be temporarily paused for an estimated period of 90 days to facilitate replacement and restoration of affected equipment and structures," the company said after the incident

Sigachi Industries said the affected plant is one of its three manufacturing facilities for the production of Microcrystalline Cellulose (MCC). "This unit contributes approximately 6,000 MTPA out of our total operating capacity of 21,700 MTPA, with the balance production coming from our other two facilities located in Gujarat," it said. Its other two plants meanwhile continue to operate normally.
<h3><strong>Sigachi Industries share price:</strong></h3>
Sigachi Industries shares have seen strong downturn since the incident, falling around 50 percent in the past one year. After hitting a 52-week high of Rs 59.59 apiece in June last year, the stock tumbled more than 68 percent in around eight months to hit a fresh 52-week low of Rs 18.92 apiece day before yesterday (February 2).

The company’s market capitalization currently stands at over Rs 900 crore.

Shares of <a href="https://www.moneycontrol.com/india/stockpricequote/finance-nbfc/bajajfinance/BAF">Bajaj Finance</a> traded largely flat on Wednesday after the non-banking finance company reported a December-quarter profit that fell short of estimates, weighed down by higher provisions and one-off expenses.

The stock slipped to an intraday low of Rs 944.15 on the NSE before recovering most of the losses. At around 1.45 pm, shares were trading at Rs 970.20, up 0.6 percent.

Brokerage Jefferies, which has a ‘buy’ rating on the stock with a target price of Rs 1,270, said the December-quarter profit missed expectations due to one-time provisions and labour-law related costs. It added that core profit rose about 23 percent year-on-year after adjusting for one-offs.

Jefferies noted that loan growth moderated to 22 percent year-on-year, but said asset quality improved and the company’s credit cost guidance was encouraging. It continues to maintain Bajaj Finance as a top pick.

Antique Stock Broking, which has a ‘buy’ call with a target price of Rs 1,070, said higher provisions impacted profitability but described the move as prudent and supportive of asset quality over the medium term.

Ambit Capital maintained a ‘sell’ rating with a target price of Rs 713, citing structurally higher credit costs following tighter loss norms and increased competition from banks, which it said could delay recovery to a 20 percent return on equity.

Emkay Global Financial Services, which has a ‘reduce’ rating and a target price of Rs 950, said the spike in provisions was largely discretionary. It added that underlying business momentum remains intact, with improving bad loan trends and a steady profitability outlook.

The company reported a 6 per cent decline in consolidated net profit to Rs 4,066 crore for the third quarter of the current financial year. The company had reported a net profit of Rs 4,308 crore in the year-ago period.

Total income rose to Rs 21,215 crore for the third quarter of the ongoing fiscal year from Rs 18,058 crore in the year-ago period, Bajaj Finance said in a regulatory filing. The consolidated assets under management improved to Rs 4,88,477 crore at the end of December 2025 compared to Rs 3,98,043 crore in the third quarter of last year.

Net interest income grew to Rs 11,317 crore as against Rs 9,382 crore in the third quarter of FY25. With regard to asset quality, the gross non-performing assets (NPAs) of the company increased to 1.21 per cent from 1.12 per cent during the same period a year ago.

Bajaj Finance shares trade flat on missing Q3 estimates, brokerages see steady profitability outlook

Shares of Bajaj Finance traded largely flat on Wednesday after the non-banking finance company reported a December-quarter profit that fell short of estimates, weighed down by higher provisions and one-off expenses.

The stock slipped to an intraday low of Rs 944.15 on the NSE before recovering most of the losses. At around 1.45 pm, shares were trading at Rs 970.20, up 0.6 percent.

Brokerage Jefferies, which has a ‘buy’ rating on the stock with a target price of Rs 1,270, said the December-quarter profit missed expectations due to one-time provisions and labour-law related costs. It added that core profit rose about 23 percent year-on-year after adjusting for one-offs.

Jefferies noted that loan growth moderated to 22 percent year-on-year, but said asset quality improved and the company’s credit cost guidance was encouraging. It continues to maintain Bajaj Finance as a top pick.

Antique Stock Broking, which has a ‘buy’ call with a target price of Rs 1,070, said higher provisions impacted profitability but described the move as prudent and supportive of asset quality over the medium term.

Ambit Capital maintained a ‘sell’ rating with a target price of Rs 713, citing structurally higher credit costs following tighter loss norms and increased competition from banks, which it said could delay recovery to a 20 percent return on equity.

Emkay Global Financial Services, which has a ‘reduce’ rating and a target price of Rs 950, said the spike in provisions was largely discretionary. It added that underlying business momentum remains intact, with improving bad loan trends and a steady profitability outlook.

The company reported a 6 per cent decline in consolidated net profit to Rs 4,066 crore for the third quarter of the current financial year. The company had reported a net profit of Rs 4,308 crore in the year-ago period.

Total income rose to Rs 21,215 crore for the third quarter of the ongoing fiscal year from Rs 18,058 crore in the year-ago period, Bajaj Finance said in a regulatory filing. The consolidated assets under management improved to Rs 4,88,477 crore at the end of December 2025 compared to Rs 3,98,043 crore in the third quarter of last year.

Net interest income grew to Rs 11,317 crore as against Rs 9,382 crore in the third quarter of FY25. With regard to asset quality, the gross non-performing assets (NPAs) of the company increased to 1.21 per cent from 1.12 per cent during the same period a year ago.

Shares of <a href="https://www.moneycontrol.com/india/stockpricequote/textiles-readymade-apparels/gokaldasexports/GE05">Gokaldas Exports</a> surged 20 percent to hit an intraday high of Rs 832.85 on the NSE. The stock opened with a gap-up gain of 12.15 percent and has risen over 41 percent in the past two sessions.

Among other textile stocks, K P R Mill gained 2.62 percent to Rs 1,014.90 per share. Indo Count Industries jumped around 11 percent, while Arvind advanced over 2 percent. Kitex Garments was up about 12 percent.

According to ICICI Securities, a reduction in reciprocal tariffs from 50 percent to 18 percent, along with recent trade deals with the UK and the European Union, is expected to provide a multi-year advantage to the textile sector by boosting earnings and cash flows through an expanded export base and capacity additions.

The cut in US tariffs to 18 percent from 50 percent earlier gives India a competitive edge over other Asian exporters, where tariff rates range between 19 percent and 30 percent, ICICI Securities said.

Shrimp exporters also witnessed strong buying interest. <a href="https://www.moneycontrol.com/india/stockpricequote/aquaculture/avantifeeds/AF21">Avanti Feeds</a> rose 12 percent and Apex Frozen Foods climbed 10 percent, while Coastal Corporation hit the 5 percent upper circuit.

The US accounted for 53 percent of Apex Frozen’s export sales in FY25. North America contributed 65.4 percent of Avanti Feeds’ total sales in the first quarter of FY25.
