Gold and silver ETFs rose up to 6% as precious metal prices climbed, driven by a weaker US dollar after soft US PPI data eased inflation concerns. Optimism over US-Iran diplomacy and easing oil prices also boosted sentiment, while aluminium prices gained.

Gold and silver exchange traded funds (ETFs) rose up to 6 percent on Wednesday as prices of the precious metals advanced, supported by a weaker US dollar after softer-than-expected US producer price index (PPI) data.

Data showed headline PPI rose modestly and missed expectations, easing immediate inflation concerns and improving overall market sentiment. The trend indicated that inflationary pressures remain largely driven by external factors, including the ongoing US-Iran conflict.

A weaker US dollar reduced safe-haven demand for the greenback and boosted bullion. When the dollar weakens, gold becomes cheaper for buyers using other currencies, which typically supports demand and lifts prices.
Gold and silver ETFs rise
Among silver ETFs, Axis Silver ETF surged 5.54 percent, while ICICI Prudential Silver ETF and Kotak Silver ETF rose 5.43 percent and 5.66 percent, respectively.

Mirae Asset Silver ETF, Motilal Oswal Silver ETF, HDFC Silver ETF and Nippon India Silver ETF also moved up in trade.

Among gold ETFs, Nippon India ETF Gold BeES rose around 2 percent. ICICI Prudential Gold ETF gained 1.5 percent, while Axis Gold ETF advanced about 1.7 percent.

UTI Gold ETF, Edelweiss Gold ETF, HDFC Gold ETF, Quantum Gold ETF and DSP Gold ETF also traded higher.

Optimism around renewed diplomatic engagement between the US and Iran, further supported sentiment and lifted gold prices by over 2 percent. Easing oil prices also provided some relief from inflation concerns that had weighed on the metal.

However, the broader outlook remained mixed as expectations of delayed rate cuts due to energy-led inflation capped gains.

Meanwhile, shares of Multi Commodity Exchange of India hit a fresh 52-week high of Rs 2,889 per share on the NSE, rising 4.46 percent. The sharp rise in the stock was in line with gains in precious metal prices, while the metal index was up 2.2 percent.

Aluminium prices also rose nearly 0.65 percent to Rs 369.05 per kg in futures trade as speculators built up fresh positions amid a positive trend in the spot market.

On the Multi Commodity Exchange, the price of aluminium for delivery in May increased by Rs 2.40, or 0.65 percent, to Rs 369.05 per kilogram in 133 lots.

Analysts said fresh positions created by traders amid demand from consuming industries supported aluminium prices in the futures market.

Indian equities rallied on April 15, with strong gains in InterGlobe Aviation and Larsen & Toubro amid falling crude prices and easing US-Iran tensions. All NSE sectoral indices rose, market breadth was positive, and midcap/smallcap stocks saw active trading.

Indian equities saw strong stock-specific action on April 15, with several stocks registering sharp gains and losses amid a broad-based rally in the domestic market.

Among frontline gainers, InterGlobe Aviation rose 5 percent to Rs 4,642, supported by a decline in crude oil prices. Larsen and Toubro advanced 4 percent, aided by easing concerns over the US-Iran conflict.

Midcap and smallcap stocks also attracted buying interest. Suzlon Energy, Hindustan Petroleum Corporation and Oracle Financial Services Software were among the top gainers in the midcap space.

In the smallcap segment, RailTel Corporation of India, Swan Energy and Aegis Logistics were among the biggest gainers. On the downside, Oil India, The New India Assurance Company and Indus Towers were among the biggest midcap losers. Among smallcaps, Just Dial, Nuvoco Vistas Corporation and Home First Finance Company India were among the biggest losers.

All sectoral indices on the NSE traded higher. The Nifty IT index led gains, rising 2.5 percent, followed by Nifty Consumer Durables and Nifty Metal, which gained 2 percent each. Nifty Auto and Nifty PSU Bank rose 1.7 percent each, while Nifty Private Bank and Nifty Realty were up 1.6 percent each.

Market breadth remained firmly positive, with 3,425 stocks advancing against 507 declines on the BSE, indicating broad-based participation.

Indian equities opened sharply higher, supported by improving global sentiment. Optimism around progress in US-Iran negotiations helped ease geopolitical concerns and lifted global risk appetite. Strength in US and Asian markets also supported domestic sentiment.

A key supportive factor remained the decline in crude oil prices, which is positive for India as it helps ease inflationary pressures, lower input costs and support the current account outlook. Foreign investor flows will remain a key monitorable, while the earnings season is expected to drive stock-specific movements in the near term.

In a market short on fresh triggers, several stocks quietly stole the spotlight on April 15, driven purely by price action, technical breakouts and sustained buying momentum.

On the positive side, Sylvan Plyboard (India) emerged as the top gainer, rallying 16.13 percent to Rs 54 after moving above its 30-day and 50-day simple moving averages of Rs 46.50 and Rs 48.65, respectively. Lakshya Powertech rose 7.51 percent to Rs 105.80 after crossing above its 30-day and 50-day averages of Rs 98.41 and Rs 103.76.

Ganesh Infraworld gained 7.06 percent to Rs 81.45 after moving above its 30-day simple moving average of Rs 76.08, while Aegis Logistics climbed 6.61 percent to Rs 669 after crossing above its 30-day and 50-day averages of Rs 627.53 and Rs 657.49.

The Grob Tea Company rose 5.32 percent to Rs 930 after moving above its 30-day and 50-day simple moving averages, while Renol Polychem gained 4.96 percent to Rs 145 after crossing above its 30-day, 50-day and 150-day averages, indicating broad-based technical strength.

On the downside, Madhya Pradesh Today Media led the losers, falling 2.97 percent to Rs 43.05 after slipping below its 30-day and 50-day moving averages of Rs 44.37 and Rs 43.67, respectively.

MVK Agro Food Product declined 2.45 percent to Rs 522.30 after falling below its 30-day and 50-day averages, while Oil India fell 1.93 percent to Rs 466.10 after slipping below its key short-term moving averages.

Plada Infotech Services dropped 1.73 percent to Rs 10.80 after falling below all key moving averages, signalling broad-based weakness. Nuvoco Vistas Corporation and Indus Towers also traded below key short-term averages, indicating pressure in select counters.

Railtel Corporation of India share price surged 19 percent intraday on April 15 following the company won three orders worth Rs 608.51 crore.

At 15:13AM, Railtel Corporation of India was quoting at Rs 337.65, up Rs 53.20, or 18.70 percent., on the BSE.

The company has received two Letters of Acceptance (LoA) from RVNL for the Supply, Installation, Testing, and Commissioning (SITC) of Integrated Tunnel Communication Systems, with a total order value of ₹564.54 crore.

Additionally, RailTel has been awarded a work order worth ₹43.96 crore by the Uttar Pradesh Police Recruitment and Promotion Board to provide security-related ancillary services during recruitment examinations.

Both contracts are scheduled to be executed by April 12, 2028.

However, in a separate development, the Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti has cancelled a work order worth ₹17.12 crore due to unavoidable administrative reasons.

In the previous trading session, the share closed at Rs 284.45, down Rs 1.35, or 0.47 percent.

The share touched a 52-week high of Rs 478.80 and a 52-week low of Rs 244.95 on 10 June, 2025 and 30 March, 2026, respectively.

Currently, the stock is trading 40.59 percent below its 52-week high and 16.13 percent above its 52-week low.

The market capitalisation of the company stands at Rs 9,129.09 crore.

Railtel Corporation of India shares surges 19% on orders win worth Rs 608 crore from RVNL

Shares of Minda Corporation added nearly 2% in the early trade on April 15 after the company announced a joint venture with a UK-based firm to strengthen its presence in the electric vehicle (EV) segment.

At 09:39am, Minda Corporation was quoting at Rs 517.70, up Rs 8.50, or 1.67 percent, on the BSE.

The company’s wholly owned subsidiary, Spark Minda Green Mobility Systems (SMGM), has entered into a joint venture agreement with Turntide Drives, subject to regulatory approvals. The partnership will operate through a newly incorporated joint venture entity in India.

The JV will focus on the development and manufacturing of next-generation EV components, including high- and low-voltage motor controllers, high-performance electric motors, thermal management pumps, and other customised controllers, primarily catering to India’s fast-growing EV market.

Under the agreement, Minda Corporation, through its wholly owned SPV, will hold a 49% stake, while Turntide will own the remaining 51%.

“This partnership with Turntide marks a significant milestone in our journey towards electrification,&quot; said Ashok Minda, Chairman and Group CEO of Minda Corporation.

He added that by combining Turntide’s globally proven technology with Minda Corporation Limited’s strong local presence, we aim to deliver advanced, high-quality, and cost-competitive EV powertrain solutions that support India’s transition to ustainable mobility. This will result to meet ‘Make in India’ objectives and enhance the resilience of domestic supply chain of EV ecosystem.
