The index has now fallen nearly 9 percent in just three days amid a global tech selloff since Anthropic launched a new legal AI tool. The index is now heading for its worst week in over four months, and is currently the worst performing sectoral index on the markets today.

AI developer Anthropic launched plug-ins for its Claude Cowork agent last week that can automate tasks across legal, sales, marketing and data analysis. The move has triggered worries of an impending AI-fueled disruption of the data and professional services industry, which were once seen as major beneficiaries of the AI era, according to traders and analysts.
<h3><strong>Key technical levels for Nifty IT to watch out for:</strong></h3>
The IT stocks have faced difficulty in the short term, as indicated by the failure of the Nifty IT sectoral index to hold key moving averages and move into the oversold area, said Siddharth Maurya, Founder &amp; Managing Director at Vibhavangal Anukulakara.

The analyst added that this is an indication of increased volatility, and such an indicator is not related to the market's failure to sustain an emerging trend. “At this juncture, the sectoral IT stocks must fight to hold on to the support zones, where the stock market may pick up gradually,” he further said.
<h3><strong>'Healthy pause than a structural breakdown':</strong></h3>
Darshan Rathod, COO of MULTYFI, said that Indian IT stocks are currently undergoing a correction, but this looks more like a healthy pause than a structural breakdown. He explained that after a strong run in the last cycle, valuations became stretched, especially in large and mid-cap IT names. As growth visibility moderated and global tech spending turned cautious, markets started adjusting prices to more realistic expectations, he added.

“From a technical view, most IT stocks are correcting near their long-term support levels and remain above key moving averages on higher timeframes. RSI levels have cooled into neutral zones, which usually signals consolidation rather than panic selling. This suggests that momentum has weakened, but the broader trend is still intact,” Rathod said.

Tushar Badjate, Director of Badjate Stock &amp; Shares, said that Nifty IT has slipped below its 200 DMA on the daily timeframe, confirming a bearish trend shift. He added that the recent fall signals continuation in selling rather than exhaustion. While the index is near trendline support, momentum remains weak, suggesting any bounce is likely to be corrective, he added.

“On the downside, 34,000–33,000 emerges as a key demand zone, supported by the weekly SMA around 34,300, quarterly 20 EMA, and the latest monthly higher low. Until the index decisively reclaims 37,500–38,000, rallies should be viewed as sell-on-rise opportunities,” according to Badjate.

"The index has broken important support levels, and momentum remains negative despite nearing oversold territory. Major stocks like <a href="https://www.moneycontrol.com/india/stockpricequote/computers-software/infosys/IT">Infosys</a>, Tata Consultancy Services (<a href="https://www.moneycontrol.com/india/stockpricequote/computers-software/tataconsultancyservices/TCS">TCS</a>), and <a href="https://www.moneycontrol.com/india/stockpricequote/computers-software/hcltechnologies/HCL02">HCL Tech</a> have witnessed technical breakdowns and failed to sustain above resistance zones. RSI readings suggest limited buying strength, while volumes indicate selling pressure. Overall, the trend remains bearish, and any short-term bounce is likely to face resistance. Investors are advised to follow a sell-on-rise strategy and avoid aggressive long positions until the sector shows clear signs of reversal above key resistance levels," said Drumil Vithlani, Technical Analyst at Bonanza.

"With financing costs firmed up, we can concentrate on design innovation, sustainability integrations, and long-term urban infrastructure linkages that buyers increasingly value. Overall, we view this stability as a foundation to build market confidence," said Uddhav Poddar, Chairman and Managing Director of Bhumika Group.

The RBI’s six-member Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) on February 6 unanimously voted to keep the repo rate unchanged at 5.25 percent, while retaining a neutral policy stance. The decision was seen as balancing growth considerations with inflation management.

Market sentiment was also supported by the government’s continued focus on infrastructure development in the Union Budget 2026.

Manoj Gaur, Chairman and Managing Director of Gaurs Group, said easing retail inflation and higher infrastructure spending could support growth and asset creation. "This will go a long way in ensuring India’s growth and create demand for asset creation, benefitting the real estate sector,” he said.

Motilal Oswal said that the company’s Q3 results were not strictly comparable on a YoY basis, as it consolidated Indus Towers (Indus) from mid-November 2024. “Overall, BHARTI reported a steady 3QFY26, with in-line performance in India and a better show by Airtel Africa,” it said.

“Homes continue to benefit from acceleration in subscriber additions, while the Enterprise segment’s margins remained elevated. Airtel Africa continued to report strong double-digit CC revenue and EBITDA growth, with a further boost from favorable FX movements. There was a significant miss on our PAT estimates due to higher interest expense and tax rate (Africa’s rising contribution to profitability). However, more importantly, BHARTI’s FCF generation improved further to INR169b (INR458b in 9MFY26), which led to ~INR140b reduction in net debt (excl. leases) amid steady capex trends in India business,” the domestic brokerage said.

Macquarie kept its ‘Outperform’ rating on the stock, with a target price of Rs 2,250 per share. The latest target price implies a downside potential of nearly 21 percent from the stock’s previous closing price of Rs 258.29 apiece.

The shares of Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC) jumped in trade on February 6 after the company reported a “very strong” set of earnings for the October-December quarter of the ongoing FY26. Kaynes Tech shares however tumbled.

LIC shares jumped around 8 percent to hit a 11-week high of Rs 905 apiece. Kaynes Tech shares meanwhile plunged nearly 8 percent to Rs 3,337 apiece, extending losses for the second day.
<h3><strong>LIC Q3 Results:</strong></h3>
<a href="https://www.moneycontrol.com/india/stockpricequote/lifehealth-insurance/lifeinsurancecorporationindia/LIC09">LIC </a>on February 5 reported a consolidated net profit of Rs 12,930 crore for Q3 of the financial year 2026, marking a 17 percent YoY rise from the Rs 11,008.65 crore net profit reported in the corresponding quarter of the previous financial year. The insurer's net premium income also rose more than 17 percent YoY to Rs 1,25,988.15 crore during the quarter under review.

The insurer’s solvency ratio rose to 2.19 percent in Q3 FY26 from 2.02 percent in Q3 FY25. Asset quality improved, with gross NPA ratio for policyholders’ fund reducing to 1.31 percent in Q3 FY26, from 1.34 percent in Q2 FY26 and 1.64 percent in Q3 FY25.

LIC said that its assets under management (AUM) stood at Rs 59.17 lakh crore by the end of December last year.

JM Financial said that the company reported “exceptionally strong results”, with individual APE growth of 61 percent which was substantially higher than the reported RWRP growth of 26 percent. “We have appreciated LIC’s business, the results justify our conviction. While we raise FY26/FY27/FY28E APE estimates by 4-5%, we maintain our margin estimates, for now. We maintain BUY on the stock with an unchanged target price of Rs 1,111, valuing the corporation at 0.7x Mar’28 EVPS of Rs 1,596,” the brokerage said.

The target price implies an upside potential of more than 32 percent from the stock’s previous closing price.

Motilal Oswal Financial Services noted that the firm’s management expects premium growth to be in line with the industry, driven by an increase in ticket size and growth in the number of policies with enhanced affordability post GST exemption. GST impact on VNB margin will be offset by a product mix shift, cost optimization, and improvement in persistency.

“We have increased our APE estimates by 7%/5%/5% and VNB margin estimates by 120bp/120bp/50bp for FY26/27/28, considering the strong growth trajectory and increasing non-par contribution witnessed during 9MFY26. Reiterate BUY with a revised TP of Rs 1,100 (premised on 0.6x FY28E EV),” it added.

Emkay Global upgraded the stock to "buy" from "add", citing consistent margin improvement and share price underperformance.
<h3><strong>Kaynes Tech Q3 Results:</strong></h3>
<a href="https://www.moneycontrol.com/india/stockpricequote/electronics-components/kaynestechnologyindia/KTI">Kaynes Technology India</a> on February 5 reported a consolidated net profit of Rs 76.64 crore for the October-December quarter of FY26, marking a 15 percent YoY rise from the Rs 66.46 crore net profit reported in the corresponding quarter of the previous financial year.

Sequentially however, net profit fell from the Rs 121.41 crore reported in the second quarter of FY26.

The firm’s revenue from operations meanwhile rose around 22 percent to Rs 804.03 crore during the quarter under review.

ICICI Securities said that while profit grew 15 percent YoY, it missed estimates driven by muted growth and lack of traction in the company's industrial segment

Bank stocks declined in trade on February 6 after the Reserve Bank of India’s (RBI) Monetary Policy Committee kept its repo rate unchanged after a cumulative repo rate cut of 125 basis points since February 2025.

The <a href="https://www.moneycontrol.com/indian-indices/NIFTY-BANK-23.html">Nifty Bank index</a> dropped more than 0.4 percent to 59,798.85, as seen at 10.45 am, extending losses for the second consecutive session.

While announcing the decisions taken during the MPC meeting, RBI Governor Sanjay Malhotra said that the central bank has decided to maintain status quo on the repo rate at 5.25 percent and retain stance at ‘Neutral’.

The RBI also maintained a status quo on the standing deposit facility (SDF) at 5 percent, and kept marginal standing facility (MSF) and bank rates at 5.5 percent. The SDF is the lower band of the interest rate corridor, while the MSF is the upper band.

“Since the last MPC meeting (December 2025), external headwinds have intensified. However, the successful completion of trade deals augurs well for the economic outlook. Overall, the near-term domestic inflation and growth outlooks remain positive,” he said.
<h3><strong>Bank stocks:</strong></h3>
<a href="https://www.moneycontrol.com/india/stockpricequote/banks-private-sector/indusindbank/IIB">IndusInd Bank</a> shares dropped nearly 2 percent, while Punjab National Bank (<a href="https://www.moneycontrol.com/india/stockpricequote/banks-public-sector/punjabnationalbank/PNB05">PNB</a>), Bank of Baroda, Canara Bank, <a href="https://www.moneycontrol.com/india/stockpricequote/banks-public-sector/statebankindia/SBI">State Bank of India</a> (SBI) and Union Bank of India fell more than 1 percent each.

Yes Bank, Federal Bank, IDFC First Bank, <a href="https://www.moneycontrol.com/india/stockpricequote/banks-private-sector/hdfcbank/HDF01">HDFC Bank</a> and AU Small Finance Bank shares were down around 1 percent each. Bucking the trend, <a href="https://www.moneycontrol.com/india/stockpricequote/banks-private-sector/axisbank/AB16">Axis Bank</a>, ICICI Bank and <a href="https://www.moneycontrol.com/india/stockpricequote/banks-private-sector/kotakmahindrabank/KMB">Kotak Mahindra Bank</a> shares were trading in the green.
<h3><strong>Technical view on Bank Nifty:</strong></h3>
Hitesh Tailor, Research Analyst at Choice Equity Broking sees Bank Nifty finding immediate resistance at 60,300–60,400, and crucial support in the 59,700–59,800 range.

Nifty Bank is moving sideways following the sharp recovery from recent lows, said SAMCO Securities. It added that the RSI is placed near 56, holding above the neutral zone. The MACD continues to improve and remains in positive territory, it further said.

“On the downside, 59,800 remains the immediate support, followed by 59,600, which coincides with the 50-day moving average. On the upside, 60,300–60,350 remains the immediate resistance band, followed by 60,500,” the brokerage added.

“Index has immediate support at 59500-59200 levels being the confluence of the 20- and 50-days EMA. Index holding above the support area will keep the bias positive and will open upside towards 60,700 and 61,200 levels in the coming weeks. Volatility is likely to remain elevated amid uncertain global cues and the upcoming RBI monetary policy announcement. Key short-term support is placed in the 58,500–58,000 zone,” said Bajaj Broking.
