The firm's net profit meanwhile declined around 14 percent YoY to Rs 173.96 crore in Q3 FY26, from Rs 202.1 crore in Q3 FY25.

Jefferies maintained its 'Buy' rating on the stock, with a target price of Rs 125 apiece. This implies an upside potential of nearly 33 percent from the stock’s previous closing price. Analysts from two international brokerages remain divergent on their views about the sector, with one remaining cautious, while the other optimistic.

The fall in heavyweights like <a href="https://www.moneycontrol.com/india/stockpricequote/computers-software/infosys/IT">Infosys</a>, Tech Mahindra and more pushed the <a href="https://www.moneycontrol.com/indian-indices/nifty-it-19.html">Nifty IT index</a> down more than 1 percent earlier during the day. However, the index then made strong recovery, snapping a three-session losing streak to close in the green at 32,799.90. This came as mid-cap IT stocks like <a href="https://www.moneycontrol.com/india/stockpricequote/computers-software/coforge/NII02">Coforge</a> and <a href="https://www.moneycontrol.com/india/stockpricequote/computers-software/persistentsystems/PS15">Persistent Systems</a> gained up to 3 percent.
<h3><strong>Why IT stocks have been volatile recently?</strong></h3>
The sharp decline in IT stocks began earlier this month amid concerns that artificial intelligence can intensify competition after Anthropic's launch of a legal AI tool. Investors remained concerned that AI was creating more competition for software makers, after Anthropic’s launch of a legal tool for its Claude AI chatbot.

Vaqarjaved Khan, Senior Fundamental Analyst at Angel One, said that the weak sentiment was amplified by global tech sector weakness and rupee depreciation, exacerbating FPI outflows.

US job growth unexpectedly increased in January and the unemployment rate fell to 4.3 percent. These signs of labor market stability could give the Federal Reserve room to keep interest rates unchanged for some time while policymakers monitor inflation.

However, the sharp increase in payrolls was seen in the health sector. According to economists quoted by Reuters, job openings and other indicators pointed to a tepid labor market, adding that job growth remained concentrated in the healthcare and social services industries, which accounted for nearly all the rise in employment.

"The only jobs being filled in January are in health care and social assistance, along with some nonresidential specialty trade contractors probably related to AI facilities, all of which do not guarantee the economy's future success," the report quoted Christopher Rupkey, chief economist at FWDBONDS, as saying. "If you are looking for a job ... you are unlikely to find anything to apply for in today's report,” he added.
<h3><strong>JPMorgan on IT:</strong></h3>
JPMorgan Head of Asia &amp; Co-Head of Global Emerging Markets Equity Strategy, Rajiv Batra, noted that markets will side towards those IT companies who show the ability to adapt to such disruptive technologies at a cheaper rate than the global peers.

While speaking to CNBC-TV18, the analyst said that valuations still seem high in comparison to earnings, hence investors must look at growth prospects. He added that he sees "substantial downside" to IT stocks from here.

In an earlier note titled 'India IT Services: Looking through the AI fog', JPMorgan's Asian Pacific Equity Research team argued that artificial intelligence will create new areas of work, instead of simply shrinking the opportunities for IT vendors.

"IT firms remain the plumbers of the technology world…However, it's overly simplistic to assume that AI can automatically generate enterprise grade software and replace the value IT Services firms create across the cycle," it added.
<h3><strong>Macquarie on IT:</strong></h3>
Ravi Menon, Lead Analyst at Macquarie Group, meanwhile said that people underestimate the demand elasticity in technology. He said that AI won't change much as the cost of coding has always been dropping.

"Back in 2012-13, when the 'Low code no code' tools started emerging, this was a concern. But that actually became the fastest growing practices for Indian IT services firms over the time. So I don't think the new AI tools are any cause of concern for people. Firms should adapt to these tools, and change the business model a little to price a lot more on the outcome," he said while speaking to CNBC-TV18.

He added that the latest AI inventions don’t seem to be anything that is significantly disruptive. The recent fall in IT stocks is led by fear more than fundamentals, and the disruption worries are likely overdone, he further said.

According to Menon, this is the phase where investors should start buying fairly aggressively. However, he said that some of the large-caps may see 10 percent downside in the worst-case scenario. He added that demand trends are improving, and guidance in April could trigger a PE rerating in IT stocks.

"The breakdown was accompanied by a bearish daily candle. RSI, which had plateaued near 60, has started turning down, suggesting bulls are losing grip around the key support area," he said.

He added that the immediate support for Bank Nifty is placed in the 20-day EMA zone of 60,000–59,900. "Any sustained move below this zone could lead to the index extending its weakness towards 59,500, followed by 59,000 in the short term. On the upside, the zone of 60,500–60,600 is likely to act as an immediate resistance," Shah said.

The firm’s revenue from operations meanwhile gained around 28 percent YoY to Rs 370.87 crore in Q3 FY26, from Rs 290.02 crore in Q3 FY25. EBITDA rose 16 percent YoY to Rs 151.62 crore, although EBITDA margin reduced to 40.9 percent in Q3 FY26 from 45 percent in the year-ago period.
<h3><strong>Torrent Pharma Q3 Results:</strong></h3>
Torrent Pharma reported a consolidated net profit of Rs 635 crore for the October-December quarter of the ongoing financial year 2026. This marks a 26 percent YoY rise from the Rs 503 crore net profit reported in the corresponding quarter of the previous financial year.

The company’s revenue from operations meanwhile rose nearly 18 percent YoY to Rs 3,303 crore during the quarter under review, from Rs 2,809 crore in the year-ago period.

Along with the Q3 results, Torrent Pharma announced an interim dividend of Rs 29 per equity share for the financial year 2026. The dividend is expected to be paid to the eligible shareholders on or around March 6 this year. The record date to determine the eligibility of the shareholders is yet to be announced.

Kfin Tech shares jumped more than 7 percent to trade at Rs 1,040 apiece, while Torrent Pharma shares gained over 6 percent to Rs 4,324.9 apiece on Monday.
Kfin Tech Q3 Results:
Kfin Technologies on February 13 reported a consolidated net profit of Rs 91.99 crore for the third quarter of FY26. This marks a 2 percent year-on-year (YoY) rise from the Rs 90.18 crore net profit reported in the corresponding quarter of the previous financial year.

The net profit reported for the quarter under review however included a one-time exceptional cost of Rs 8.56 crore arising out of the implementation of the new labour codes, which took effect last year.

The firm’s revenue from operations meanwhile gained around 28 percent YoY to Rs 370.87 crore in Q3 FY26, from Rs 290.02 crore in Q3 FY25. EBITDA rose 16 percent YoY to Rs 151.62 crore, although EBITDA margin reduced to 40.9 percent in Q3 FY26 from 45 percent in the year-ago period.
Torrent Pharma Q3 Results:
Torrent Pharma reported a consolidated net profit of Rs 635 crore for the October-December quarter of the ongoing financial year 2026. This marks a 26 percent YoY rise from the Rs 503 crore net profit reported in the corresponding quarter of the previous financial year.

The company’s revenue from operations meanwhile rose nearly 18 percent YoY to Rs 3,303 crore during the quarter under review, from Rs 2,809 crore in the year-ago period.

Along with the Q3 results, Torrent Pharma announced an interim dividend of Rs 29 per equity share for the financial year 2026. The dividend is expected to be paid to the eligible shareholders on or around March 6 this year. The record date to determine the eligibility of the shareholders is yet to be announced.

The shares of Indian IT companies extended decline on February 16 as worries around artificial intelligence-led disruption in the sector continued to spook investors.

The fall in the share prices pushed the <a href="https://www.moneycontrol.com/indian-indices/nifty-it-19.html">Nifty IT index</a> down around 1 percent to 32,360.35 in the morning trading hours of Monday. The index has now fallen more than 9 percent in four consecutive sessions of losses.

After falling around 13 percent in 2025, the index has declined about 15 percent so far in 2026, due to intensifying fears about artificial intelligence-driven disruption that could drag the earnings of software services companies.

Heavyweight Infosys shares fell more than 2 percent to trade at Rs 1,341 apiece. The stock has declined more than 10 percent in the past five days, and over 20 percent in the past one month.

Tech Mahindra shares fell more than 1 percent, while Wipro and LTI Mindtree shares were down nearly 1 percent each, as seen at 11.20 am. Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), HCL Technologies and Mphasis shares were trading in the red with marginal losses, while Coforge and Persistent Systems shares bucked the trend to trade in the green with marginal gains.
<h3><strong>Why are IT stocks falling?</strong></h3>
The sharp decline in IT stocks began earlier this month amid concerns that artificial intelligence can intensify competition after Anthropic's launch of a legal AI tool. Investors remained concerned that AI was creating more competition for software makers, after Anthropic’s launch of a legal tool for its Claude AI chatbot.

Vaqarjaved Khan, Senior Fundamental Analyst at Angel One, said that the weak sentiment was amplified by global tech sector weakness and rupee depreciation, exacerbating FPI outflows.

US job growth unexpectedly increased in January and the unemployment rate fell to 4.3 percent. These signs of labor market stability could give the Federal Reserve room to keep interest rates unchanged for some time while policymakers monitor inflation.

However, the sharp increase in payrolls was seen in the health sector. According to economists quoted by Reuters, job openings and other indicators pointed to a tepid labor market, adding that job growth remained concentrated in the healthcare and social services industries, which accounted for nearly all the rise in employment.

"The only jobs being filled in January are in health care and social assistance, along with some nonresidential specialty trade contractors probably related to AI facilities, all of which do not guarantee the economy's future success," the report quoted Christopher Rupkey, chief economist at FWDBONDS, as saying. "If you are looking for a job ... you are unlikely to find anything to apply for in today's report,” he added.
<h3><strong>What lies ahead?</strong></h3>
The correction in IT stocks shows that the market is worried as many investors believe AI is now ready to replace engineers, especially in India’s IT services sector, said Darshan Rathod, COO, MULTYFI. “In my view, this reaction is more emotional than rational,” he added.

Pranav Koomar, Founder and CEO of PlusCash, also said that the sharp weakness seen in the IT stocks today is more of a sentiment correction rather than fundamental weakness. The fears of advanced AI platforms potentially leading to a compression of traditional services revenue models have seen widespread selling, especially in the large caps, he said.

“Yes, AI tools today can write code, fix bugs, and deploy systems faster than ever before. Naturally, investors are questioning whether companies will need fewer engineers in the future. If manpower reduces, cost structures change. And when cost structures change, stock valuations react. But we must separate fear from facts,” said Rathod.

According to him, AI is extremely powerful but mainly as a productivity tool. It helps engineers work faster and more efficiently, as it reduces repetitive tasks. For IT firms, this can improve margins, according to him.

The analyst believes that AI cannot take responsibility. Large global corporations operate on complex, old, and highly customized systems. These systems require human judgment, business understanding, and accountability, and an algorithm cannot be held legally responsible if something fails, he said.

“From my perspective, this is not the end of the IT services story. It is a transition phase. There is also an important economic angle. When something becomes cheaper and more efficient, demand usually increases. If AI makes software development faster and more affordable, more companies across sectors may invest in digital transformation. That could actually expand the total opportunity size for IT firms,” Rathod said, explaining that the real change now is not about replacement, but adaptation as engineers who learn to work with AI will remain valuable, while those who ignore may struggle.

Koomar said that although new-age innovative applications will change the traditional approach to AI, Indian IT companies have healthy deal pipelines and established relationships with global clients. “For the short term, the stocks may face some more volatility as markets recalibrate pricing, but companies that are clear with their AI integration and digital transformation services are more likely to bounce back and drive the next leg of growth,” he said.
