The shares of <a href="https://www.moneycontrol.com/ipo/tata-capital-ltd-tcl06-ipodetail">Tata Capital</a> made their much-anticipated market debut on October 13, listing at 1.2 percent premium over the IPO price at Rs 330 apiece. JM Financial has initiated coverage on the stock with an 'Add' rating, and a target price of Rs 360 apiece.

The latest target price implies an upside potential of more than 9 percent from the stock's current market price of Rs 330 per share. JM Financial noted that the company is one of the leading, diversified non banking financial institution (NBFC) in India with the strong backing of the Tata group. It operates largely in secured business segments.

What JM Financial expects?

"TCL has a highly diversified product mix, offering 25+ distinct lending products broadly classified into three businesses: 61% of its loan book comprising retail finance, 26% SME and 13% corporate loans. With the highest credit rating of AAA/Stable, TCL enjoys easy access to funds at lower interest rates. However, higher share of secured loans and greater competition from banks in TCL's segments lead to lower-than-peers NIMs of ~5-5.5% which along with lower credit cost, gets translated into RoA of ~2.1-2.5% (in FY23/FY24)," the brokerage said.

JM Financial expects Tata Capital to deliver an AUM CAGR of 20 percent during FY25-27E with largely steady opex and gradual decline in credit costs post FY26E. This will likely result in FY25-27E PAT CAGR of approximately 34 percent during FY25-27E, translating into average RoA/RoE of 1.9%/13.2% over FY26E/FY27E, it added.

"Based on its AUM growth and RoE profile, TCL should trade between CIFC and HDB, which have valuation multiple of 3.7x and 2.5x FY27E P/BV, respectively. We assign TCL a target multiple of 2.9x FY27E BVPS reflecting a ~10%- 12% premium/discount to HDB Financial/CIFC," the brokerage added.

Downside risks:

While noting the downside risks, JM Financial listed economic slowdown leading to AUM growth slowdown, delayed NIM expansion, higher credit cost and regulatory risk.

"Long-term holding of the stock should be considered by investors who received IPO. Meanwhile, those who didn’t get shares in the IPO can purchase when the price goes down," it added.

Shares of map services company CE Info Systems, the makers of MapMyIndia, were higher by over 8 percent in early trade on October 13 on expectations of further government push for home-grown digital services, after Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw posted about the features of one of its products - Mappls - on his social media platform. The railways will soon sign an agreement with the company to use the application, Minister Vaishnaw added.

The post has Minister Vaishnaw describing features of the product in a video, urging users to explore the app. "Swadeshi ‘Mappls’ by MapmyIndia. Good features… must try!" said Ashwini Vaishnaw, after meeting representatives from the company that offers digital maps as a service (MaaS). Several car OEMs have the Mappls service preinstalled as an app in their vehicles.

"Several applications in railways can use Mappls' technology, and an MoU will soon be signed between the Mappls and Railways to use such GIS applications," the minister said in the video that has him using the map for navigation.

Responding to the minister's post, MapMyIndia said, "It would be our privilege to collaborate with the @RailMinIndia

This comes after Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) banned the company from participating in future tenders of the ministry and India Mission abroad for two years.

The shares hit a record low of Rs 276.95 apiece. The stock later made some recovery to trade 12.4 percent lower at Rs 295 apiece, as seen as 10.08 am.

In an exchange filing released in the post market hours of October 11 (Saturday), BLS International Services informed investors about the latest order by MEA. It however informed that the order will not affect the existing contracts, which will continue as per terms. "All existing contracts with Indian Missions across the globe remain valid and continue to operate as scheduled. Additionally, the order will not have any significant bearing on the company's financial outlook," the company said.

Why did MEA ban the company from its future tenders?

The order has been issued on the account of allegations including court cases and complaints of applicants. This debarment shall not affect the financial performance of existing operations of the company, and it is evaluating the appropriate legal action against it, BLS International further said.

What is the likely impact?

Notably, during the first quarter of the FY26 (April-June), Indian Missions contributed to approximately 12 percent to the consolidated revenue and nearly 8 percent of the firm's EBITDA. "The company is working to resolve the matter. The company views this as a procedural development within the visa outsourcing industry and remains confident of a constructive resolution in due course," it added.

"Over the past few years, BLS International has strategically diversified its business portfolio, securing new and renewed contracts with key government and institutional clients across the United States, United Arab Emirates, Spain, Slovakia, Hungary, Poland, Portugal, and through the UIDAI project in India. The company further strengthened its overall business momentum by acquiring iDATA and Citizenship Invest during the last financial year. This diversification has strengthened its revenue mix and reinforced the company's resilience against regional developments," BLS said.

"The company continues to maintain its growth trajectory, underpinned by robust business fundamentals and a well-balanced global portfolio. BLS International remain committed to delivering value to its investors and stakeholders," it added.

BLS International share price history:

BLS International shares have now recorded losses for the fourth consecutive session, emerging as the top loser on the Nifty 500 index. The stock has now dropped over 20 percent in the past one month, and nearly 40 percent in 2025 so far.

The stock, which currently has a P/E ratio of over 23, is now down nearly 47 percent from its 52-week high of Rs 521.80 apiece, which it had hit in January this year.

About 1,294 shares advanced, 2,154 shares declined, and 170 shares were unchanged. The broader markets were also in the red, with the midcap and smallcap indices being down around 0.5 percent each.

Among the sectors, IT, metal, realty and consumer durables were among the top losers. Bucking the trend, auto stocks were trading in the green.

US-China tariff worries

Trump on Friday announced that he would impose an additional 100 percent tariff on imports from China, as well as export controls on critical US-made software. This sent the US tech stocks like Nvidia, Tesla, Amazon and Advanced Micro Devices shares down.

Indian IT stocks accompanied their US peers on Monday when markets reopened. The <a href="https://www.moneycontrol.com/indian-indices/nifty-it-19.html">Nifty IT</a> index was down more than 230 points (0.65 percent) to 35,377.55, as seen as 9.23 am. Heavyweight <a href="https://www.moneycontrol.com/india/stockpricequote/computers-software/infosys/IT">Infosys</a> was down over 1 percent, emerging as one of the top losers on the market today.

VK Vijayakumar, Chief Investment Strategist at Geojit Investments Limited, however dismissed worries. "Stability appears to be returning to global stock markets, after the Friday sell off triggered by President Trump’s threat to impose additional 100% tariff on China, thereby reigniting the US- China trade war. Latest comments from President Trump indicate that he is chickening out as he had done many times earlier. Particularly, his remark, “don’t worry about China” indicate that the feared trade war may be averted. Recovery in US futures indicate that the market is not unduly worry about the latest developments. Chances are that this sabre rattling by the world’s two largest economies is temporary," he said.

"Domestic consumption themes which will not be impacted by the trade skirmishes are likely to witness accumulation by institutional buyers," he noted.

"Since the U.S. and China are the largest economies in the world with strong links with the rest of the world, global equity markets will be hurt in the short term," G Chokkalingam, founder and head of research of Equinomics Research told Reuters.

However, Indian markets could largely avoid the global downturn if the U.S. refrains from extending its tariff war to India, which might prompt a tactical shift of foreign inflows from China to India, Chokkalingam said.

Rising trade tensions between the world's two largest economies could fuel inflation in the U.S. and force the Federal Reserve to delay interest rate cuts.

High U.S. rates do not bode well for emerging market equities such as India as they make dollar and Treasury yields attractive for global investors.

Profit booking

The fall in the stock markets may have also been driven by profit booking. Last week, Sensex and Nifty recorded their <a href="https://www.moneycontrol.com/news/business/markets/sensex-down-350-pts-nifty-below-25-200-us-china-tariff-worries-among-key-factors-behind-market-fall-13611813.html">best weekly performance in around three months</a>. Sensex gained more than 1,253 points (1.6 percent), while Nifty 50 rose over 391 points (nearly 1.6 percent) during the week. Nifty 50 crossed the 25,300-mark on Friday for the first time since September 22 this year.

Investors may have now resorted to profit booking at these elevated levels, leading to a fall in the share prices.

India VIX

India Vix, which reflects near-term volatility, jumped more than 11 percent to 11.25 on Monday. This signals caution among investors amid trade tensions. This may also have led to the fall in stock prices.

Speaking about what remains the key levels to watch out for, Puneet Singhania, Director at Master Trust Group said 25,000–24,900 zone remains a critical support on the downside. PL Capital meanwhile said that the support for the day was seen as 25,150.

Gold prices rise

After few sessions of recording losses, gold has resumed its record bull run. Gold futures on MCX with December expiry hit a fresh lifetime high of Rs 1,23,680 per 10 grams today. The other future contracts also recorded sharp gains, rising more than 1 percent each.

The rise in gold prices indicate the shift in investor interest from risk prone stock markets to safe haven assets like the precious metals. This may have further fueled the fall in the stock markets.

&quot;Domestic consumption themes which will not be impacted by the trade skirmishes are likely to witness accumulation by institutional buyers,&quot; he noted.

&quot;Since the U.S. and China are the largest economies in the world with strong links with the rest of the world, global equity markets will be hurt in the short term,&quot; G Chokkalingam, founder and head of research of Equinomics Research told Reuters.

However, Indian markets could largely avoid the global downturn if the U.S. refrains from extending its tariff war to India, which might prompt a tactical shift of foreign inflows from China to India, Chokkalingam said.

Rising trade tensions between the world's two largest economies could fuel inflation in the U.S. and force the Federal Reserve to delay interest rate cuts.

High U.S. rates do not bode well for emerging market equities such as India as they make dollar and Treasury yields attractive for global investors.

Profit booking

The fall in the stock markets may have also been driven by profit booking. Last week, Sensex and Nifty recorded their best weekly performance in around three months. Sensex gained more than 1,253 points (1.6 percent), while Nifty 50 rose over 391 points (nearly 1.6 percent) during the week. Nifty 50 crossed the 25,300-mark on Friday for the first time since September 22 this year.

Investors may have now resorted to profit booking at these elevated levels, leading to a fall in the share prices.

India VIX

India Vix, which reflects near-term volatility, jumped more than 11 percent to 11.25 on Monday. This signals caution among investors amid trade tensions. This may also have led to the fall in stock prices.

Speaking about what remains the key levels to watch out for, Puneet Singhania, Director at Master Trust Group said 25,000–24,900 zone remains a critical support on the downside. PL Capital meanwhile said that the support for the day was seen as 25,150.

Gold prices rise

After few sessions of recording losses, gold has resumed its record bull run. Gold futures on MCX with December expiry hit a fresh lifetime high of Rs 1,23,680 per 10 grams today. The other future contracts also recorded sharp gains, rising more than 1 percent each.

The rise in gold prices indicate the shift in investor interest from risk prone stock markets to safe haven assets like the precious metals. This may have further fueled the fall in the stock markets.

Plutus Wealth Management LLP has bought 3.75 lakh shares (0.78 percent stake) in Cartrade, the multi-channel auto platform, at Rs 2,445.04 per share, valued at Rs 91.68 crore, however, Goldman Sachs India sold 3.61 lakh shares (0.76 percent stake) at Rs 2,445 per share for Rs 88.41 crore.

Meanwhile, Plutus Wealth Management acquired 11.46 lakh shares (0.85 percent stake) in WeWork, the workspace solutions provider, at Rs 630.17 per share for Rs 72.27 crore.

However, CLSA Global Markets - ODI sold 12.5 lakh shares in WeWork at Rs 631.76 per share for Rs 78.97 crore, and BofA Securities Europe SA offloaded 9.44 lakh shares at Rs 643.17 per share for Rs 60.73 crore.

As per the latest shareholding pattern published on October 9, CLSA Global Markets - ODI had held 1.74 percent stake (23.31 lakh shares) in WeWork.

WeWork India launched its Rs 3,000 crore-initial public offering last week, closing on October 7 with just 1.15 times subscription.
