Shares of appliance firms surged up to 14% as demand for induction cooktops and electric kettles rose amid West Asia tensions and LNG supply disruptions. Companies like Butterfly Gandhimathi, TTK Prestige, and Stove Kraft saw notable gains on the NSE.

Shares of household appliances companies rose by up to 14 percent on Thursday, tracking a surge in demand for induction cooktops and electric kettles amid escalating tensions in West Asia.

Butterfly Gandhimathi Appliances, backed by Crompton, climbed 13.64 percent to touch an intraday high of Rs 673.95 per share on the NSE. The stock has risen for the past two trading sessions.

TTK Prestige shares gained 5.3 percent to an intraday high of Rs 503 per share on the NSE, after declining for four consecutive sessions earlier.

Stove Kraft advanced 6.65 percent to Rs 526 per share on the NSE, extending gains for the second straight session. Hawkins Cookers was also trading up by about 1 percent.

The rally in these stocks comes amid concerns over disruptions in liquefied natural gas (LNG) supplies after Qatar reported damage following an Iranian missile strike at Ras Laffan, the world’s largest LNG facility.

Ras Laffan is a key global export hub, and any disruption to its infrastructure could impact the availability and pricing of gas, affecting countries dependent on LNG imports.

Sales of induction cooktops and electric kettles has already surged in the wake of cooking gas supply concerns.

Qatari authorities said late Wednesday that Ras Laffan Industrial City, which houses the LNG facility accounting for about a fifth of global supply before production was halted earlier this month, was hit by an Iranian missile after four others were intercepted. Hours later, Abu Dhabi shut its Habshan gas facilities following debris from an intercepted strike.

Tata Group's Croma recently said it has observed a threefold jump in demand for induction cooktops over the past few days, while Stovekraft Ltd, the company behind the popular kitchen appliance brand Pigeon, noted that its average weekly online sales have jumped four times.

&quot;At Croma, we have observed a sharp and immediate uptick in demand for induction cooktops over the past few days. Our average daily run rate has surged significantly,&quot; Infiniti Retail Ltd (Croma) CEO &amp;amp; MD Shibashish Roy said.

Industry players said they expect the shift towards energy-efficient and alternative cooking solutions to continue as consumers increasingly look for reliable and cost-effective kitchen appliances.

Petronet LNG and GAIL (India) shares fell up to 8 percent on Thursday after Qatar reported damage following an Iranian missile strike at Ras Laffan, the world’s largest liquefied natural gas (LNG) facility.

Shares of Petronet LNG declined as much as 7.72 percent to an intraday low of Rs 269.10 on the NSE. The stock had opened 2.74 percent lower and reversed gains seen over the previous two sessions. The stock pared some losses and settled at Rs 271.9 per share, down 6.76 percent.

GAIL (India) shares also slipped after two days of gains, touching an intraday low of Rs 143.8, down 4.75 percent, also its 52-week low.

The decline in the stocks comes amid concerns over potential disruptions in LNG supply. Ras Laffan is a key global export hub, and any damage to its infrastructure raises uncertainty over availability and pricing of gas, impacting companies dependent on LNG imports.

A fresh attack early Thursday triggered a fire at Ras Laffan, which authorities said was being contained. QatarEnergy said several LNG facilities were hit, causing fires and extensive damage. No casualties were reported. US President Donald Trump said the US would retaliate if Qatar’s LNG facilities were attacked again.

The developments mark a further escalation in regional tensions, following a series of attacks on oil and gas infrastructure in recent days. Crude oil and natural gas prices had surged earlier after Israel targeted Iran’s South Pars gas field. Tehran subsequently warned that energy facilities in Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates could be considered “legitimate targets.”

Nomura said refining remains the best way to play the ongoing Middle East crisis, naming Reliance Industries as its top pick due to expected gains from stronger refining margins, while GAIL is seen as the least impacted among gas companies under its coverage.

The brokerage has given Reliance Industries a buy rating and increased its target price by 22 percent to Rs 1,700. GAIL has also been assigned a buy rating, with its target price raised by 43 percent to Rs 203 per share. Petronet LNG and Mahanagar Gas have been given buy ratings, with target prices increased by 31 percent and 49 percent, respectively. Among oil marketing companies, HPCL, BPCL and IOCL have buy ratings with target prices raised by 55 percent, 51 percent and 28 percent, respectively.

The brokerage noted that since the conflict in Iran escalated, cracks for diesel and aviation turbine fuel have surged to around $76 per barrel and $107 per barrel, respectively, compared with a normal range of $15 to $20 per barrel in recent quarters. The increase has been driven by refinery disruptions due to crude shortages and attacks, supply blockages through the Strait of Hormuz, China’s export restrictions on refined products, airline hedging and higher war-related consumption.

Nomura said Indian refiners with higher diesel exposure are likely to benefit from elevated cracks. Among stocks under its coverage, Reliance Industries is expected to benefit due to its limited exposure to fuel retailing, with less than 10 percent of refinery throughput linked to retail. In contrast, oil marketing companies are likely to face losses on petrol and diesel retailing that could offset gains from refining. The brokerage estimates that every $1 per barrel increase in refinery margins could lead to about a 2.3 percent rise in Reliance’s consolidated EBITDA.

In the gas segment, Nomura prefers GAIL, citing its tariff-based business model that limits the impact of gas price volatility, along with a 12 percent tariff increase effective January 2026. While imported LNG volumes may decline, the impact is expected to be partially offset by domestic gas volumes. The company may also see some upside in its marketing segment and LPG production.

Petronet LNG may see a volume impact of up to 40 percent following supply disruptions linked to Qatar Energy’s force majeure, though margins are expected to remain stable due to a 5 percent annual tariff escalation from January 2026.

Nomura said sustained crude oil prices above $100 per barrel could pressure oil marketing companies’ financials, with estimated cumulative annual losses in fuel retailing exceeding $60 billion at current prices. If crude remains above $100 per barrel, the brokerage sees a case for reintroducing windfall tax on domestic producers such as ONGC and Oil India. At this level, it estimates a windfall tax equivalent of $25 per barrel could generate about Rs 506 billion in additional revenue, which could be used to provide partial relief to oil marketing companies through excise duty cuts of around Rs 3 per litre on petrol and diesel.

Ace investor Ashish Kacholia has sold 3.55 percent stake in Cosmic CRF, the manufacturer of cold rolled formed steel sections for railway and industrial applications, and almost exited BEW Engineering, the pharmaceutical filter dryer maker, via open market transactions on March 18. Suryavanshi Commotrade was the buyer in both transactions.

Cosmic CRF shares were locked in 10 percent upper circuit at Rs 693.45 amid high volumes, after significant correction in the past five consecutive sessions, however, BEW Engineering shares fell 0.48 percent to Rs 83.5, the lowest closing level since November 2021, on the National Stock Exchange.

Suryavanshi Commotrade has acquired 3.26 lakh shares (equivalent to 3.55 percent of paid-up equity) in Cosmic CRF from Ashish Ramesh Kacholia at Rs 650.24 per share, valued at Rs 21.2 crore.

The shareholding pattern of Cosmic CRF for December 2025 quarter was not available on the exchange, but as per September 2025, Ashish Kacholia was holding 3.09 lakh shares (3.37 percent stake) in the company.

Suryavanshi Commotrade also acquired 6.33 lakh shares (4.8 percent stake) in BEW Engineering from Ashish Kacholia at Rs 84.66 per share, amounting to Rs 5.36 crore. BEW Engineering also reported shareholding pattern till September 2025.

Meanwhile, Electrosteel Castings was also in focus, rising 6.23 percent to Rs 72.78 on the NSE. Electrosteel Thermal Coal has acquired 2.05 crore shares (3.31 percent) in the company that makes ductile iron pipes, and iron fittings, from India Opportunities Growth Fund Ltd - Pinewood Strategy for Rs 143.5 crore. The transaction price was Rs 70 per share.

India Opportunities Growth Fund was holding 3.49 percent stake in Electrosteel Castings as of December 2025.

The brisk action was also seen in Shankara Building Products, the building materials supplier, which shares rose 4.34 percent to Rs 109.9 on the NSE. The Ballygunge Family Trust has picked up 2.04 lakh shares (0.84 percent stake) in the company at Rs 109.51 per share for Rs 2.24 crore, however, ACE Infracity Developers sold 2 lakh shares (0.82 percent stake) at Rs 109.5 per share, valued at Rs 2.19 crore.

Yatra Online shares also saw buying interest after hitting more than seven-month low in the past sessions, rising 6.82 percent to Rs 106.65 on the NSE. Belgrave Investment Fund has acquired 16.89 lakh shares (1.07 percent stake) at Rs 105.02 per share for Rs 17.7 crore, however, ITI Holdings and Investment sold 15 lakh shares (0.95 percent stake) at Rs 105.11 per share, amounting to Rs 15.76 crore.

Filatex Fashions remained in action in current month, closing flat at Rs 0.17 for another session on the National Stock Exchange. Promoter Prabhat Sethia has been selling shareholder in the company, offloading further 4.69 crore shares (0.56 percent stake) in the textile company at Rs 0.17 per share, valued at Rs 79.77 lakh.

Prabhat Sethia, in total, sold 2.85 percent stake in Filatex Fashions in current month so far.

Ashish Kacholia sells 3.55% stake in Cosmic CRF, almost exits BEW Engineering

Urban Company shares hit the 20 percent upper circuit intraday on Wednesday after SBI Mutual Fund bought a stake worth Rs 632 crore in the company.

The stock rose 20 percent to an intraday high of Rs 131.44 per share on the NSE. It had opened 2.78 percent higher.

SBI Mutual Fund purchased shares worth Rs 632.21 crore across exchanges. The transactions came on the day the mandatory lock-in period for pre-IPO shares ended.

On Tuesday, DF International Partners II, ABG Capital and Wellington Hadley Harbor Aiv Master Investors (Cayman) III sold shares worth Rs 734.4 crore through block deals on the BSE and NSE.

On the NSE, DF International Partners II and ABG Capital sold shares worth Rs 385.16 crore, while Wellington Hadley Harbor Aiv Master Investors (Cayman) III offloaded shares worth Rs 349.23 crore on the BSE.

Urban Company shares had settled 64 percent above the issue price at Rs 169 per share on the NSE on listing day on September 17, 2025.

The stock had debuted at over 57 percent premium to its IPO price after the issue was subscribed 103.63 times during September 10–12.
