Bajaj Finserv announced the successful completion of the acquisition, together with Bajaj Holdings &amp; Investment and Jamnalal Sons, of a 23% stake in its insurance subsidiaries—Bajaj General Insurance and Bajaj Life Insurance—from Allianz SE for Rs 12,190 crore and Rs 9,200 crore, respectively.

The acquisition increased the Bajaj Group’s ownership in both insurance companies to 97% from 74%, giving Bajaj Finserv complete control of the insurance companies with a 75.01% stake.

The transfer of Allianz’s remaining 3% stake is expected to be completed over the next few months through a proposed buyback of shares by the insurance companies. If the buyback is completed, Bajaj Finserv’s stake is expected to rise to approximately 77.3%, with Bajaj Holdings &amp; Investment holding approximately 18.1%, while the balance will be held by Jamnalal Sons.

BHEL shares hit 10 percent lower circuit limit in January 8 trade after a report said that India plans to scrap curbs on Chinese firms bidding for government contracts.

Consequently, shares of <a href="https://www.moneycontrol.com/india/stockpricequote/infrastructure-general/bharatheavyelectricals/BHE">Bharat Heavy Electricals</a> hit 10 percent lower circuit to quote at Rs 273.20 apiece. The shares settled at Rs 276.90 per share, down 8.78 percent.

The sharp decline was witnessed after a Reuters report that the finance ministry plans to scrap five-year-old restrictions on Chinese firms bidding for government contracts as New Delhi seeks to revive commercial ties in an environment of eased diplomatic and border tensions.

BHEL builds, commissions, and supplies equipment for numerous thermal power plants across India, including large supercritical projects (800 MW+), playing a key role in India's energy security by manufacturing turbines, generators, and boilers for state-owned entities like NTPC and private players like Adani Power.

Meanwhile, Siemens shares fell over 4% as China's CRRC is also competitor to them in Railway contracts, which could be now allowed to participate in Rail contracts if recommendations of committee are approved as the article suggests.

The restrictions had a significant impact wherein months after they were unveiled, China's state-owned CRRC was disqualified from bidding for a $216-million train-manufacturing contract.

The curbs, imposed in 2020 after a clash between the countries' troops, required Chinese bidders to register with an Indian government committee and obtain political and security clearances.

Other capital goods stocks like Hitachi Energy, ABB India fell 4-4.5%. Shares of blue chip firm L&amp;T fell nearly 3%.

The measures effectively barred Chinese firms from competing for Indian government contracts that were estimated to be worth $700 billion to $750 billion.

"Officials are working to remove the registration requirement for bidders from bordering nations," one government source told Reuters, declining to be named as they were not authorised to speak publicly.

The Ministry of Finance's plan to ease curbs followed requests from other government departments that are facing shortages and project delays due to the 2020 restrictions.

"Several ministries have requested exemptions to overcome the constraints that could derail projects in their sectors," a second government source told Reuters.

Curbs on imports from China of equipment for the power sector have hindered India's plans to raise its thermal power capacity to about 307 GW over the next decade.

BHEL shares hit 10 percent lower circuit limit in January 8 trade after a report said that India plans to scrap curbs on Chinese firms bidding for government contracts.

Consequently, shares of Bharat Heavy Electricals hit 10 percent lower circuit to quote at Rs 273.20 apiece. The shares settled at Rs 276.90 per share, down 8.78 percent.

The sharp decline was witnessed after a Reuters report that the finance ministry plans to scrap five-year-old restrictions on Chinese firms bidding for government contracts as New Delhi seeks to revive commercial ties in an environment of eased diplomatic and border tensions.

BHEL builds, commissions, and supplies equipment for numerous thermal power plants across India, including large supercritical projects (800 MW+), playing a key role in India's energy security by manufacturing turbines, generators, and boilers for state-owned entities like NTPC and private players like Adani Power.

Meanwhile, Siemens shares fell over 4% as China's CRRC is also competitor to them in Railway contracts, which could be now allowed to participate in Rail contracts if recommendations of committee are approved as the article suggests.

The restrictions had a significant impact wherein months after they were unveiled, China's state-owned CRRC was disqualified from bidding for a $216-million train-manufacturing contract.

The curbs, imposed in 2020 after a clash between the countries' troops, required Chinese bidders to register with an Indian government committee and obtain political and security clearances.

Other capital goods stocks like Hitachi Energy, ABB India fell 4-4.5%. Shares of blue chip firm L&amp;amp;T fell nearly 3%.

The measures effectively barred Chinese firms from competing for Indian government contracts that were estimated to be worth $700 billion to $750 billion.

&quot;Officials are working to remove the registration requirement for bidders from bordering nations,&quot; one government source told Reuters, declining to be named as they were not authorised to speak publicly.

The Ministry of Finance's plan to ease curbs followed requests from other government departments that are facing shortages and project delays due to the 2020 restrictions.

&quot;Several ministries have requested exemptions to overcome the constraints that could derail projects in their sectors,&quot; a second government source told Reuters.

Curbs on imports from China of equipment for the power sector have hindered India's plans to raise its thermal power capacity to about 307 GW over the next decade.

Aditya Birla Sun Life Asset Management shares on Thursday fell nearly 4 percent after markets regulator Sebi alleged that a Bank of America unit breached insider trading rules in a 2024 share sale.

The stock declined 3.85 percent to an intraday low of Rs 820.85 per share on the National Stock Exchange.

In a notice, the Securities and Exchange Board of India (Sebi) accused a Bank of America (BofA) unit of violating insider trading norms and breaching internal information barriers, commonly known as "Chinese walls", in connection with a March 2024 share sale of Aditya Birla Sun Life Asset Management.

The notice followed Sebi’s investigation into the conduct of the bank’s domestic securities unit in managing the transaction.

According to the regulator, the bank’s deal team, while in possession of unpublished price-sensitive information related to the share sale, contacted potential investors directly or indirectly.

At the request of the deal team, the bank’s broking arm, research team and Asia-Pacific syndicate team reached out to investors and shared valuation reports and other confidential information, the October 30-dated notice said.

“The conduct highlights the failure of the deal team to maintain Chinese walls with broking and research arms, impacting safekeeping of confidential information and internal controls,” Sebi said.

The regulator further alleged that the bank suppressed material facts and made false statements during the course of the investigation.
