Shri R.K. Singh has served as the Minister for the Ministries of Power and New and Renewable Energy since September 5, 2017, initially as Minister of State (Independent Charge) and later as the Cabinet Minister. He is a Member of Parliament from Arrah (Bihar) and holds degrees in English Literature, Law, and Management. With a distinguished career, he joined the Indian Police Service in 1974 and the Indian Administrative Service in 1975. Shri Singh transformed Bihar's road infrastructure into one of the country's best. As Minister of Power and New & Renewable Energy, he spearheaded the world's largest program for universal electricity access, connecting villages nationwide. Overseeing the National Grid expansion, he made India a net power exporter. Shri Singh led rapid global expansion in the Renewable Energy Sector, reducing DISCOMs' losses and reshaping India's power sector into an efficient, sustainable force. Recognised by international agencies, India, under his leadership, ranks 4th globally in renewable energy capacities.
Jayant Sinha, the Chairperson of the Standing Committee for Finance and BJP Lok Sabha MP from Hazaribagh, Jharkhand, is a distinguished leader. His impactful tenure in India's Council of Ministers (2014-2019) included key roles in passing the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code and spearheading initiatives at the Ministry of Civil Aviation. Before entering politics, Mr Sinha held pivotal roles in a leading impact investment firm and McKinsey & Company, where he co-led the global Software & IT Services Practice. An acclaimed tech and venture capital expert, Mr Sinha is frequently quoted in global media and has contributed to prestigious publications. With an MBA from Harvard Business School, an MS in Energy Management and policy from the University of Pennsylvania, and a Bachelor of Technology from IIT Delhi, he received the Distinguished Alumni Award in 2015. Jayant Sinha continues to be a driving force in Indian politics and economic development.
Rohit Kumar Singh, a 1989-batch IAS officer from the Rajasthan cadre, has served as the Department of Consumer Affairs Secretary since December 31, 2021. He holds an Electrical Engineering degree from IIT, BHU, and a Master's in Computer Engineering from Clarkson University, USA. Singh also earned a Master's in Public Administration (MPA) from Harvard University, where he was recognised as a Lucius N. Littaeur Fellow in 2004. Singh's notable positions include leadership roles in national Highways, medical and health, information technology, and finance. He played a pivotal role in reviving public-private partnerships on national highways and successfully executed asset recycling of public-funded national highways, attracting significant FDI
Pratik Jain is a Partner and Regional Markets Leader (North) at PwC India, overseeing the GST practice. He has extensive experience in consumer markets, retail, and services and previously worked at KPMG and EY/Arthur Andersen. Pratik advises Indian and multinational corporations on tax planning, dispute resolution, and policy issues. He actively contributes to tax advocacy, chairs ASSOCHAM’s National GST Task Force, and plays a key role in GST policy formulation. As a respected writer in publications, he shares valuable insights in public debates on tax policy at national and international forums. Pratik, a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India, is a Law graduate.
Devendra Kumar Pant, the Chief Economist and Head of Public Finance Ratings at India Ratings & Research Private Limited (Ind-Ra), brings nearly three and a half decades of expertise in economic policy, credit analysis, and public finance. Prior to his role at Ind-Ra, he served as a Fellow at the National Council of Applied Economic Research (NCAER) for over 18 years. Devendra holds a Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Rajasthan, Jaipur, an M.Sc. in Operational Research from the University of Delhi, and has completed the Open Economy Macroeconomics course at Harvard University. His diverse experience includes consulting for the Planning Commission and participating in the United Nations' expert group on the Macroeconomic Impact of Water. Moreover, he was a visiting scholar at the Department of Economics, University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia.
Aditi Nayar, Chief Economist and Head of Research & Outreach at ICRA Ltd., brings 18 years of expertise in economic research. With a notable 16-year tenure at ICRA, her impact spans diverse sectors, including irrigation, power, industrial development, and urban infrastructure funding. As a key figure in macroeconomic analysis, forecasting, and policy assessment, Aditi has played a crucial role in shaping India's credit rating landscape for sub-sovereign debt. Recognised as one of India's top forecasters by Bloomberg, she previously served as a research analyst at the World Bank. Aditi holds an M.Phil. in Economics from the University of Oxford and a Bachelor's degree in Economics and Psychology from Indiana University, Bloomington. Dr Ashwani Mahajan is the National Co-Convenor of Swadeshi Jagran Manch and has been a professor in PGDAV College’s Department of Economics, University of Delhi, for more than 40 years. Dr Mahajan, through his interventions, has been instrumental in getting changes made to economic policies, including the withdrawal of a controversial ordinance on land acquisition and the government’s foreign direct investment policy especially relating to retail trade. He has written extensively on current economic issues and published more than 400 articles in various national dailies and periodicals in addition to a number of research articles in reputed journals.
With an extensive 36-year career in the Indian Administrative Service, Subhash Chandra Garg actively contributed to public administration, development program execution, and budget crafting at both state and central government levels. He has transitioned into a dynamic role as policy advisor, writer, and author, recently publishing his third book, "We Also Make Policy," offering a behind-the-scenes look into finance ministry proceedings.
Ms. Bansuri Swaraj was enrolled with the Bar Council of Delhi in the year 2007, and since, has sixteen years’ experience in the legal profession. After her undergraduate studies form the University of Warwick in B.A. (Hons) English Literature, Ms. Swaraj went on to read Law at the prestigious BPP Law School in London. She qualified as a Barrister at Law, and was called to the bar from the Hon’ble Inn of Inner Temple, London. Thereafter, she completed her Masters of Studies from St. Catherine’s College at the University of Oxford. Ms. Swaraj is a formidable arguing counsel, having represented several high profile clients in contentious litigation across various judicial fora. Her professional portfolio has an eclectic mix of dealing with disputes involving contracts, real estate, tax, international commercial arbitrations, as well as several criminal trials. Ms. Swaraj has been appointed as the Additional Advocate General for the State of Haryana, in conjunction with running of her private practice.
Shazia Ilmi is the national spokesperson of the Bharatiya Janata Party since July 2021. Before joining politics, Ilmi was a television journalist and anchor, and led a media campaign for an anti-corruption bill to institute an ombudsman popularly known as the Jan Lokpal Bill. She started her political career with the Aam Aadmi Party and was a member of its National Executive before joining the Bharatiya Janata Party in January 2015.
Lekha S. Chakraborty is a Professor at NIPFP and elected Member of the Governing Board of Management, International Institute of Public Finance (IIPF) Munich -the world association of public finance economists. She is a pioneer economist in institutionalising Gender Budgeting in India, with Chief Economic Advisor, Ministry of Finance, Govt of India in 2004. She is also a research affiliate at the Levy Economics Institute of Bard College, New York. Her areas of interest are Macroeconomics of Public Finance, Fiscal Federalism, Climate financing, Extractive sector Economics, Financing Human Development and Gender Budgeting. She has worked for the IMF, ILO, the World Bank, UNESCAP, the UNDP, the UN Women, and the Commonwealth Secretariat on short stints. Her work experience on macro-fiscal policy and human development spans across 8 countries, including Sweden, Canada, Morocco.
Anisha Singh, the Founder of She Capital, a prominent diversity fund in India, leads investments in high-growth startups with a focus on women-led initiatives. Known for notable investments, including the successful exit of Clovia to Reliance, Anisha is also a key investor judge on the Amazon Prime series "Mission StartAB." A trailblazer herself, she founded and scaled Mydala, a local services marketing platform, after her initial success with Kinis, later acquired by Obeo in the US. Anisha's journey began with the Clinton Administration's Springboard initiative, aiding women entrepreneurs in securing funding. Serving as the President of the jury for the Cartier Women Initiative-Asia-Oceania region, Anisha is widely recognized for her impactful contributions to diversity and inclusion, earning accolades such as 'Most Influential Women in Investor's Community 2023' and 'Investor of the Year' by Yourstory's She Sparks. She holds an MA and MBA from American University in Washington DC.
Sairee Chahal, a serial entrepreneur, angel investor, and advocate for #womensinternet, is the driving force behind SHEROES – an online platform providing support, entrepreneurial opportunities, and employment for women. Additionally, she leads Mahila Money, a community neobank for women. Sairee's influence extends to her role on the boards of Milaan Foundation, Paytm Payments Bank, and US-based Women in Cloud. Recognized globally for building an ecosystem supporting women in entrepreneurship and leadership, she holds an M.Phil from JNU and a PGDBM from IMT Ghaziabad. With a career spanning from founding her first startup while in college to corporate roles at Heidrick and Struggles and CII, Sairee is an Aspen Leadership Fellow, Braddock Scholar, and recipient of prestigious awards including the Devi Award, Femina Achievers Award, Cartier Award, and L'Oreal Femina Women's Award.
Ms. V. Rama Mathew, an Officer of the 1988 Batch of the IC & CES Service, currently serving as Member & Special Secretary to Government of India, Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs. Before joining as Member & Special Secretary to Government of India, CBIC, she was holding the substantive charge of Pr. Chief Commissioner Kolkata Zone with jurisdiction over the states of the West Bengal, Sikkim and Andaman & Nicobar Islands, and additional charge of Guwahati Zone. Also served in Customs, DRI, DGGI & GST in various capacities. An Hons. Graduate from Delhi University, having served all over the country; with a passion for training and asking why not constantly; has a very eclectic taste in music, reading and theatre, enjoys conversations on a wide range of subjects.
V. Lakshmikumaran is a seasoned tax advisor with expertise in International Taxation, Transfer Pricing, GST, Customs, and various economic laws. As the founder of Lakshmikumaran & Sridharan (L&S), established in 1985, he oversees a team of 400 professionals across fourteen Indian cities. With over 35 years of experience, Lakshmikumaran has played a crucial role in shaping tax policies for the Indian government during his tenure in the Indian Revenue Service. Renowned for handling high-profile litigations, he has represented clients in over 40,000 cases before top Indian judicial bodies. Recently appointed as a Distinguished Fellow in NITI Aayog, he advises the government on economic laws and trade policies, while also contributing to FTA and WTO negotiations.
Ayushi Gudwani, the Founder and CEO of FS Life, oversees three brands: FableStreet, Pink Fort, and March. With a background at McKinsey & Co., she spent 7 years consulting on strategy, growth, and scale across sectors. Ayushi, an engineer from NSIT, Delhi, and an MBA from IIM Calcutta (graduating as a silver medalist) ventured into entrepreneurship in 2016 due to challenges in finding well-fitted workwear. Despite lacking a fashion background, Ayushi successfully built the business from scratch, garnering accolades such as 'Incredible Women Achiever' by the Indian Chamber of Commerce (2022) and being one of 5 women entrepreneurs invited by the State Government of Victoria, Australia, to the prestigious Global Victoria Women’s 2020 Summit. FS Life, initially digitally native, has served over 1,00,000 customers and raised 50 crores in Pre-Series B in 2022.
