The World SME Day is celebrated to recognise, applaud and create awareness of contribution of micro, small and medium enterprises (SMEs) to the economy. In India, SMEs are the real engines of growth and play a significant role in the economic development of the country. The sector contributes 8% to the country’s GDP, 45% to the manufactured output and 40% to the country’s exports. It provides employment to 60 million people through 28.5 million enterprises. On this day, we want to highlight significant achievements and success rate of SMEs, also emphasising on technologies that can help the sector transform digitally.
