What To Expect

Welcome to the 19th episode of Moneycontrol Masterclass.

By most estimates, around 2 crore Indians hold investments in cryptocurrencies worth Rs 15,000-20,000 crore. But the regulatory environment around this space has been ambiguous and riddled with uncertainties. Amidst the frenetic growth of this unregulated sector, Finance Ministry is racing against time to introduce a planned bill on cryptocurrency in the winter session of Parliament. A recent meeting chaired by the Prime Minister had raised concerns about over-promising and non-transparent advertising by cryptocurrency exchanges. The Parliamentary Standing Committee on Finance too had met industry representatives to understand the challenges and opportunities. What's the way forward for crypto finance in India? How can the Government harness the force of this technology in a balanced way? How can India balance regulation and innovation?

On this special edition of the Moneycontrol Masterclass we will be speaking to Hon. Jayant Sinha, MP, the Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on Finance. We will also be discussing the industry concerns with a panel of experts including Sathvik Vishwanath of Unocoin, crypto-expert Ajeet Khurana and Rashmi Deshpande of Khaitan & Co.
