What To Expect

Welcome to the 26th episode of Moneycontrol Masterclass. In the last few weeks, there have been at least half a dozen cases of electric vehicles catching fire in India- from Ola to Okinawa to Pure EV and Jitendra EV. Okinawa has even recalled over 3000 units of its Praise Pro e-scooter and the government has appointed a team of experts to investigate these cases.

The recent spate of lithium-ion battery fires in e-scooters across the country has become a source of great concern for both existing and potential EV customers, especially at a time when the sector is starting to gain traction, even as the Government is making a strong case for EV adoption.

Are EV batteries simply not able to handle our temperature? And should EVs in India or any other tropical country, be designed with special safeguards pertaining to heat? How should customers base their purchasing decisions? From a public safety viewpoint, is some sort of government certification for safety standards necessary?

We will discuss all this and more with some of the biggest voices from the industry on Moneycontrol Masterclass.
