Pakistan’s Defence Minister Khawaja Asif accused the United States of generating war

Doubling down on his criticism of United States, Pakistan's defence minister Khawaja Asif has now accused America of fueling wars between countries to earn profits. The remarks come just days after a dangerous military escalation between India and Pakistan following Operation Sindoor.

In an undated video circulating online, Khawaja Asif can be heard blaming US for deliberately prolonging conflicts between countries.

“In the last 100 years, Americans have generated wars. They have fought 260 wars, while China has only engaged in three” the Pakistani defence minster said.

He said that US does this to keep its military-industrial complex thriving.

“... the US keeps earning money. Their military industry is a massive, well-established sector and forms a major part of their GDP. That’s why they continue to create conflicts," he added.

In the video, Asif also pointed to nations such as Syria, Egypt, Afghanistan and Libya, noting that these countries were once thriving but have been devastated by prolonged conflicts.

“These countries were once wealthy. Now they are bankrupt,” he said, suggesting that US involvement played a role in their decline.

Asif characterized the American defence industry as an economic engine that “thrives on chaos and instability.”

This isn’t the first time Asif has criticized US.

In an interview to Sky News following the deadly Pahalgam attack in Jammu & Kashmir, Asif acknowledged that Pakistan supported and fostered terror groups for decades, adding that Islamabad has been carrying out “the US’s dirty work.”

“Well, we have been doing this dirty work for the United States and West, including Britain, for 3 decades," Asif revealed in the interviews.

He added that backing such groups had been an error. “That was a mistake, and we are suffering from that,” he added, referring to the terrorist incidents that later occurred within Pakistan.
