U.S. President Donald Trump on Sunday said that the American forces conducted direct strikes on three Iranian nuclear sites, marking a significant escalation in U.S. involvement alongside Israel’s military campaign aimed at dismantling Iran’s nuclear infrastructure. Iran's state-run IRNA news agency admitted attacks on the country's nuclear sites.
Trump announced the strikes in a post on Truth Social and said that all planes are now outside of Iranian air space.
"We have completed our very successful attack on the three Nuclear sites in Iran, including Fordow, Natanz, and Esfahan. All planes are now outside of Iran air space. A full payload of BOMBS was dropped on the primary site, Fordow. All planes are safely on their way home. Congratulations to our great American Warriors. There is not another military in the World that could have done this. NOW IS THE TIME FOR PEACE! Thank you for your attention to this matter," he posted.
Trump's statement follows over a week of sustained Israeli strikes targeting Iranian air defense systems, missile capabilities, and nuclear enrichment infrastructure.
Two White House officials informed that the President Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu spoke after the strikes on Iranian nuclear sites.
Israel-Iran War Live: Iran, bully of Middle East, must make peace or face tragedy, warns TrumpAdditionally, Trump said that he will be addressing the nation about the operation at 10:00 pm (ET) and said that Iran must not end this war.
"I will be giving an Address to the Nation at 10:00 P.M., at the White House, regarding our very successful military operation in Iran. This is an HISTORIC MOMENT FOR THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, ISRAEL, AND THE WORLD. IRAN MUST NOW AGREE TO END THIS WAR. THANK YOU!," he said in another post on Truth social.
The reported U.S. operation appears to represent a coordinated effort to destroy fortified sites that are deeply buried underground, locations that officials say only American stealth bombers equipped with 30,000-pound bunker-buster bombs can effectively target.
U.S. and Israeli defense sources have indicated that the Fordow facility, in particular, required precision strikes due to its depth and protective fortifications.
Iran has not yet officially confirmed the strikes or issued a formal response, but military analysts warn that any retaliation could trigger a wider regional conflict involving multiple actors and U.S. interests across the Middle East.
