US President Donald Trump, on Wednesday, compared US strikes in Iran to the Second World War bombings in Japan's Hiroshima and Nagasaki and said that the US Strikes helped Iran and Israel reach a swift solution amid their attacks on each other. Trump dismissed an intelligence leak that said that US strikes on Iran had a very limited impact.

"I don’t want to use an example of Hiroshima, I don’t want to use an example of Nagasaki, but that was essentially the same thing — that ended a war," Trump said, adding, "This ended [the Israel-Iran] war. If we didn’t take [out the nuclear facilities], they would be fighting right now."

While making the comparison, Trump said that the intelligence leak that said that the US strikes had set back Iran's nuclear programme by only a few months was inconclusive. He also said that the damage that was done to Fardow, Natanz and Isfahan could not be assessed fully till Israel delivered an assessment.

He also said that the US Defence Intelligence Agency, which had put together the report, did not really now about the damage that the US strikes inflicted in Iranian sites. "I think Israel is going to be telling us very soon.”
