Here’s the latest update on the online filing status of ITR-2 and ITR-3 as of July 17, 2025.

As of 9 AM today, ITR-2 and ITR-3 are still not available for direct online filing on the Income Tax portal.

The forms ITR-2 and ITR-3 don’t show up in the e-filing drop-down menu on the portal yet.

You can still file ITR-2 or ITR-3 by downloading the Excel utility, validating it, and uploading it as a JSON file.

The Excel utilities for ITR-2 and ITR-3 were released by the tax department on July 11, 2025.

In 2024, ITR-2 online filing started on April 1; ITR-3 followed on May 9.

The ITR filing deadline for non-audit cases has been extended to September 15, 2025.

ITR-2 is for salaried taxpayers with income above ₹50L, excluding business or profession income.

ITR-3 is meant for taxpayers who earn from business or profession.

As of now, only ITR-1 and ITR-4 can be filed fully online with prefilled data on the portal.
