5 most expensive mango varieties in the world

Mango, dubbed as ‘king of fruits’, is undoubtedly one of the most favourite fruits in summer.

If you are also a mango lover, you might want to know about some of the most expensive mango varieties in the world.

World’s most expensive mango variety is grown in Miyazaki, Japan. Known for its unique taste, creamy texture and bright colour, Miyazaki mangoes are rare and cost around Rs 3 lakh per kg.

One of the most expensive mangoes in India, Kohitur is grown in West Bengal’s Murshidabad. Cultivated in the 18th century, the mango can cost around Rs 2,000-3000 per piece.

Alphonso mango is quite popular in India for its sweet flavour and is often called the ‘king of mangoes’ for its juicy and creamy texture. Priced at Rs 400-600 per kg, these mangoes have their own GI tag.

Sindhri mangoes are grown in Sindhri, a town in Sindh and other areas of Sindh province in Pakistan. They can be priced upto Rs 1200-1500 per kg are known for their large size.

Carabao mango, also known as the Philippine mango or Manila mango, is known as the sweetest variety of the fruit and is priced between Rs 200-300 a kilogram.
