A spectacular new trekking route is drawing attention in Nepal, with the introduction of the Dhaulagiri–Annapurna Trail—a pristine alternative designed for trekkers craving untouched landscapes and an off-road Himalayan experience. According to reports by Khabarhub, the development of this new trail underscores its rising popularity among adventure seekers and nature lovers.

Why a New Trail Was Needed

As sections of the traditional Bhurung–Tatopani–Ghodepani–Ulleri–Birethanti–Nayapul route became less convenient due to expanding road networks, trekkers began searching for a quieter, more immersive experience. The Dhaulagiri–Annapurna Trail answers that need—offering a route free from road encroachment and full of raw Himalayan character.

A Route Rich with Landscapes, Culture & Himalayan Drama

Stretching across the districts of Myagdi, Kaski, and Parbat, the trail links iconic destinations such as Ghandruk, Landruk, Mohare Danda, Punhill, Ghodepani, Swant, Khopra, Khair Barahi Lake, Baili, and Mulde Viewpoint, before ending near Ghampus via Ulleri.

Trekkers can expect 10–15 days of varied Himalayan terrain—lush forests, terraced fields, ridge-top viewpoints, and expansive views of the Dhaulagiri and Annapurna massifs. Because this trail remains untouched by road expansion, it delivers the authentic, old-world trekking charm Nepal is famous for.

A Trek That Feels Wild Again

This new route gives trekkers something increasingly rare in Nepal: genuine wilderness. With quiet paths, dense forests, diverse birdlife, and remote hamlets, the Dhaulagiri–Annapurna Trail offers an atmosphere far removed from the crowded sections of the classic Annapurna Circuit.

Khopra Lake: The Jewel of the Journey

At 3,600 metres, Khopra Lake is one of the trail’s most breathtaking highlights. Its still, mirror-like waters framed by snow peaks make it an unforgettable stop—perfect for rest, reflection, and stunning photography.

Local Lodges, Warm Hospitality & Authentic Village Life

The trek winds through villages such as Swant and Baili, where trekkers can enjoy simple yet welcoming homestays, lodges, and camping options. Many locals have returned home from cities to open accommodations, contributing to a growing rural tourism economy.

A Boost for Rural Development

According to Khabarhub’s report, the new trail has already sparked positive economic change across the Myagdi, Kaski, and Parbat districts. Tourism entrepreneurs are upgrading lodges, improving foot trails, and promoting attractions along the route. The trail’s rising popularity is providing jobs and strengthening local communities.

Growing Popularity—and a Sustainable Future

With around 100 trekkers already using the route daily, the Dhaulagiri–Annapurna Trail is quickly gaining traction. Local authorities are now focusing on sustainable growth—expanding community lodges, preserving natural landscapes, and ensuring long-term benefits for local residents.

The Dhaulagiri–Annapurna Trail, as reported by Khabarhub, is set to become one of Nepal’s most remarkable trekking experiences. With its untouched forests, panoramic mountain views, peaceful trails, and deep cultural encounters, it offers everything adventure seekers dream of—without the crowds.
