WhatsApp has recently received a new update on video calling. The update we are talking about brings improvements to video calls on multiple fronts. For instance, filters and backgrounds are available to users. However, one feature that went unnoticed and even WhatsApp perhaps didn’t talk about is the new – Low-light mode for video calls.
What is WhatsApp’s new Low light mode for video calls?
Low light mode for video calls, as the name implies, is a feature that is aimed at improving the video quality during video calls in dark conditions. We tried this feature and found that turning on the feature improves the overall brightness of the frame. But most importantly, it improves the flow on the face by adding extra light and also reduces the grains that ruin the video feed in low light conditions.
How to access Low-light mode for video calls on WhatsApp?
Accessing Low-light mode on WhatsApp is pretty straightforward. All you need to do is make a video call and then tap on your frame to expand it to find the new “Bulb” logo at the top right corner.
How to enable Low light video calling more on WhatsApp
- Open WhatsApp
- Make a video call
- Expand your feed to full screen
- Then, tap on the ‘Bulb’ button to enable Low light mode
- Toggle off, if you want to turn off the low-light mode
What you should know
The Low light mode is available on both iOS and Android versions of the app
There’s no feature available on the Windows WhatsApp app, but you can increase the brightness level on the Windows version too.
The feature needs to be turned on for every WhatsApp call. There’s no option to keep it on permanently.
