More and more people are choosing them over traditional computers, and the numbers prove it. According to the latest data from Canalys, over 15.4 million AI-capable PCs were shipped in the last quarter of 2024—that’s nearly one in four PCs sold. For the entire year, 17% of all PCs came with built-in AI, with Apple leading the market at 54%, followed by Lenovo and HP at 12% each.

These aren’t just regular laptops and desktops. AI-powered PCs have special chips that speed up tasks, improve battery life, and introduce smart features like voice assistants and real-time editing tools. With Windows 10 support ending soon, millions of people will need to upgrade, which means AI PC sales are set to rise even more in 2025.

Tech giants are already gearing up for this shift. Intel is focusing on high-end models with its Lunar Lake chips, while AMD is targeting both premium and mid-range buyers. Qualcomm is making AI-powered laptops more affordable, and Apple is cutting prices on older Macs to attract even more customers, especially in emerging markets.

But there’s one challenge—rising prices. New US tariffs on Chinese imports could make laptops more expensive, which might slow down demand, especially in the world’s biggest PC market.
