Apple has confirmed that its subscription-based fitness and wellness service, Apple Fitness+, will launch in India on 15 December. This marks the platform’s largest expansion since it debuted five years ago, bringing its mix of guided workouts, meditation sessions and deep Apple Watch integration to 49 additional countries and regions.

Jay Blahnik, Apple’s vice president of Fitness Technologies, said the service continues to motivate users through seamless integration across devices, including iPhone, iPad, Apple TV, Apple Watch and AirPods Pro 3. Fitness+ offers real-time metrics onscreen, personalised recommendations and the flexibility to work out anywhere.

Fitness+: What it offers

The India launch gives users access to 12 workout types including Strength, Yoga, HIIT, Pilates, Dance, Cycling, Kickboxing and Meditation, with sessions ranging from five to 45 minutes. Features like Custom Plans help build tailored weekly schedules based on preferred activities, trainers, music and duration. Apple Watch owners can view heart rate, calories burned, Activity rings progress and the Burn Bar directly during sessions, while AirPods Pro 3 users can see metrics onscreen.

Music continues to play a central role, with deep Apple Music integration and curated genres such as Upbeat Anthems, Hip-Hop/R&B and Latin Grooves. Apple is also adding a new K-Pop category across workout types. Popular series like Artist Spotlight will continue with playlists dedicated to global names including Taylor Swift, Beyoncé, BTS and Coldplay.

Other Fitness+ staples are part of the India rollout too. Time to Walk, Apple’s audio storytelling experience featuring personalities such as Jane Fonda, Simu Liu and Shawn Mendes, adds a new episode with Formula 1 driver Yuki Tsunoda. Collections offer curated sets of workouts around goals like Run Your First 5K, Pilates for More Than Your Core and No Shoes Workouts. Users can also explore 12 themed meditation categories, from Calm and Sleep to Sound.

Pricing and availability in India

Apple Fitness+ will cost Rs 149 per month or Rs 999 per year in India, with support for Family Sharing across up to six users. The service launches in India, Chile, Hong Kong, the Netherlands, Norway, Singapore, Taiwan, Vietnam and several other regions on 15 December.

German and Spanish dubbing will also roll out on the same day, with the Japanese launch and dubbing to follow early next year.

Apple is offering three months of Fitness+ at no extra cost for customers who purchase a new Apple Watch, iPhone, iPad, Apple TV, AirPods Pro 3 or Powerbeats Pro 2 from Apple or authorised resellers.

Fitness+ works with iPhone 8 or later running iOS 16.1 or above, or an Apple Watch Series 3 or later paired with iPhone 6s or above.
