Always check the age of the AC when buying a used AC. If possible, try to procure the original bill or at least the bill copy or warranty card.
Ask the first owner about how well the AC was maintained. Ask for service frequency. This will ensure that the AC is in good condition.
Look for any external damage, such as dents, cracks, or rust, on both the indoor and outdoor units. Examine the cooling fins for blockages or damage.
If the AC is functional, try turning it on and check if it is cooling properly. Is there any noise or rattle while operational?
Check if any manufacturer warranty is still applicable or if the seller offers any personal guarantee.
Evaluate the cost of the used unit against the price of a new AC with similar specifications, considering potential repair costs and efficiency differences.
Always check the energy efficiency rating of the AC. Older ACs lose efficiency over time. So, buy higer energy efficiency rated AC, if possible.
