Dentsu announced the appointment of Ashish Khanna as global chief executive office, Dentsu Global Services (DGS), a globally networked talent capability that delivers high quality services across Dentsu’s creative, media and customer experience management (CXM) businesses. 

In this role, Khanna will lead DGS’s 8,500+ strong networked team across the globe. He will report to Michael Komasinski, CEO, CXM, international markets. He will also work closely with the global leadership and brand teams to drive growth and operational excellence for Dentsu’s clients around the world. 

Along with this, Khanna will be responsible for operationalising a globally networked talent capability that enables clients to access high-quality, consistent, cost-competitive services, combining the right expertise with the right technology from the right locations.

Armed with more than 25 years’ experience in driving transformation, innovation and operational excellence for companies such as Genpact, Accenture, and PwC, he oversaw delivery and transformative programs for Fortune 500 companies and managed large global teams. Some of the transformative programs involved driving operational effectiveness, digital platforms and strategic technology deployment for global clients.

Dentsu appoints Ashish Khanna as Global CEO, Dentsu Global Services

Haier India, home appliances and consumer electronics company, has brought Priyanka Sethi on board as head of marketing. With over 15 years of experience in marketing and brand management across B2C and B2B brands, Sethi will be responsible for developing and implementing marketing strategies that will drive growth and increase market share for the company. Further, she will also be responsible for strengthening the brand's positioning and enhancing its customer engagement.

Sethi will look into spearheading Haier’s brand image, conceptualising its growth strategies, strengthening the product narrative, increasing demand for product offerings and engaging collaboratively to deliver 360-degree integrated marketing solutions.

In the past, Sethi has held several leadership positions with Panasonic, Discovery and NEC Corporation India. She has conceptualised, led, and worked on numerous award-winning campaigns across the board.

Haier India appoints Priyanka Sethi as Head of Marketing

Diageo announced the retirement of Sir Ivan Menezes as the chief executive officer and his departure from the Diageo Board on 30 June. This follows 10 years of leading the company. Debra Crew, who is currently the chief operating officer, will step into the shoes of Menezes and join the Diageo Board, which would be effective from 1 July.

Menezes joined Diageo through the merger of Guinness plc and Grand Metropolitan plc in 1997. He has held a number of senior positions in the business including chief operating officer; president, Diageo North America; chairman, Diageo Asia Pacific; and chairman, Diageo Latin America and Caribbean. He has been an executive director of Diageo since July 2012 and has served as CEO since July 2013, where he oversaw an outstanding period of change, growth and high performance.

During Menezes' tenure, Diageo has made great strides towards its ambition to become one of the best performing, most trusted and respected consumer products companies in the world. Diageo has grown significantly during this period, now selling over 200 brands in more than 180 markets. It is today, the number one company by net sales value in Scotch whisky, vodka, gin, rum, Canadian whisky, liqueurs, and also tequila1, a category in which only eight years ago the company had no substantive position. 

Led by Menezes, Diageo has developed a leadership position in sustainability, becoming one of the top one percent of companies globally to achieve a “Double A” rating for Water Security and Climate Change from CDP (formerly the Carbon Disclosure Project), as well as a particularly strong stance on inclusion and diversity, with the company ranked number one in the UK, and number two globally, in Equileap’s 2023 Gender Equality Report. 

With Crew’s appointment as CEO, women will make up more than 50 percent of Diageo’s executive committee from 1 July. During the past decade, Diageo’s total shareholder returns have strongly outperformed the FTSE100, and the company has continued its progressive policy to increase dividends every year. In January 2023, Menezes was awarded a Knighthood for services to Business and to Equality in His Majesty The King’s 2023 New Year Honours List.

Prior to being appointed COO in October 2022, Crew was the president, Diageo North America and Global Supply, leading Diageo’s largest market to 14 percent organic net sales growth in fiscal 2022. This was following on from 20 percent organic net sales growth in the prior year. Crew originally joined the Diageo Board as a non-executive director in April 2019. This was before stepping down from the Board when appointed president, Diageo North America in July 2020.

Crew is the former president and CEO of Reynolds American, Inc., where she delivered strong performance growth before the company’s acquisition. She previously served as president and COO, and president and chief commercial officer. 

Prior to that, Crew spent five years at PepsiCo, where she served as president, North America Nutrition; president, PepsiCo Americas Beverages; and president, Western Europe Region. Prior to PepsiCo, she held positions with Kraft Foods, Nestlé S.A. and Mars, Inc.

Crew is a graduate of the University of Denver, earned an MBA from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business, and previously served as an officer in the United States Army. She currently serves on the board of Stanley Black & Decker, Inc., having previously served on the boards of Newell Brands and Mondēlez International.

Diageo names Debra Crew CEO, making her the company’s first female CEO

Publicis Groupe’s L&K Saatchi & Saatchi has announced the appointment of Pallavi Nayak as executive vice president – strategy. Her appointment comes as part of L&K Saatchi & Saatchi's ongoing expansion and investment in its planning and strategy capabilities.



In her role, Nayak will partner with clients to solve their business growth and marketing challenges, ground upwards. This will be followed by co-creating effective creative work by leveraging the Publicis Power of One to meet, impacting and persuading the consumer across his or her decision journey.
 


Nayak joins L&K Saatchi & Saatchi from the design thinking agency DY Works where she held the position of senior vice president – business design. She is armed with over 20 years of experience in the advertising and marketing industry, and has worked with some of the top agencies across India and South Asia. This includes Happy Creative Services, DY Works, Ogilvy, Contract Advertising and Lowe Lintas. Nayak, who has a background in strategic planning and brand management, has developed and executed campaigns for a diverse range of clients which includes HUL, Titan, Godrej, ITC, Tata Sky, Pidilite, Ola, Asian Paints, Mondelez and Vodafone among others.

L&K Saatchi & Saatchi appoints Pallavi Nayak as EVP - Strategy

Branding and marketing agency Dentsu X has appointed Ritika Goswami as the vice president - strategy. Previously, she held the position of associate director at NielsenIQ, a consumer intelligence company. Here, she led the all-India vertical handling FMCG, and alcohol beverages. She was also responsible for business reporting and revenue management.

Goswami comes with an experience of 18 years and started her career at Bennett Coleman and Co. Ltd. (Times Group) as assistant manager. From there, she moved to IMRB International, a market research, survey and business consultancy firm as senior research manager.

At Leading Edge, a global data, analytics and strategy consultancy company, Goswami was the senior account manager. She joined Kantar IMRB as the group account director where she headed the North India team that worked with FMCG, alcohol and durable clients. Further, she worked on new brand launches, right from conceptualization to design to communication strategy. She also carried out ethnographic and evaluation work for development sector clients.

Dentsu X appoints Ritika Goswami as VP - Strategy

DDB Mudra Group on Monday announced the appointment of Saad Khan as president and managing partner - growth & strategy. He will lead business and build on strategic capabilities for the West region of the Group. Prior to joining the DDB Mudra Group, he worked with  Interpublic Group-owned creative agency FCB Ulka overseeing strategy in Mumbai and Bengaluru.

Commenting on the appointment, Rahul Mathew, chief creative officer, DDB Mudra Group says, “For us, strategic thinking and creativity aren’t departmental functions. We’ve always believed our core to be great creativity built on strong thinking. Speaking on his role at DDB Mudra Group, Khan states, “It’s been around 21 years since Rahul and I worked together. My recent chats with him made me realise that we are still as passionate about advertising as we were a couple of decades ago. I am looking forward to hitting the road with him once more.”

DDB Mudra appoints Saad Khan as president and managing partner - growth & strategy

Publicis Groupe on Monday announced that it has appointed Ajit Gurnani as chief business development officer for South Asia. In his new role, the agency said that he will be responsible for enhancing new business offerings, strengthen client relationships, and accelerating growth for the Groupe and its clients.

He will work closely with Anupriya Acharya, CEO Publicis Groupe South Asia in this mandate.  Gurnani takes on this role in addition to his current role  as chief growth officer, Publicis Media Services, India wherein he works closely with Tanmay Mohanty, CEO, of Publicis Media Services India. In this role, he has helmed critical global and local pitches, and been instrumental in enabling some of the key media wins of 2022 including PepsiCo, LG Digital, and Eureka Forbes among others.

Gurnani has been with Groupe for nearly 8 years now across various roles in Zenith and Publicis Media. Apart from the agency and media experience he gained through leadership roles in leading media networks, he also brings a wide spectrum of client-side experience from his stint at Marico and others.

Gandhi joined MX Player from TikTok where he worked for close to two years as the head of middle east, Africa, Turkey and South Asia markets. He has also worked with companies like The Walt Disney Company, Viacom18 Media Private Limited and UTV in the past. His departure from MX Player comes when the company is currently in talks with Amazon for the sale of MX Player.

EV charging management solutions provider TelioEV has appointed Shantanu Mishra as the chief business officer. Mishra will be responsible for leading and developing the company's overall business strategy, driving revenue growth and managing customer relationships. Along with this, he will also oversee the sales, marketing and business development teams. Mishra’s mandate also includes identifying new market opportunities, developing and managing partnerships. Mishra comes with an experience of 16 years and has worked across Citi India, ADP, GSPANN Technologies and DXC Technology.

Sumit Mathur has joined homegrown fintech major Paytm as the Softbank-backed company's chief marketing officer. Mathur said about his move, “Nothing’s more exciting for a marketeer than the opportunity to literally touch the lives of every Indian and every merchant. Super excited to kickstart my own journey with Paytm....” Previously, he was the CMO at Kellogg India and led the overall Category strategy and vision and business P&L as part of the South Asia Leadership Team.

Mathur has over two decades of experience, having started his career as area sales manager at FMCG juggernaut Unilever. In a span of 14 years, he held various roles in different capacities at the company where his last position was as the general manager for the ice cream division. Mathur is also a member of the Consumer Complaints Council at The Advertising Standards Council of India.

Going from FMCG to food to fintech, when he quit Kellogg India Mathur shared some of his learnings that included lessons on building a great team and not taking work or life too seriously.

"Build a great team and they will move mountains. Building a great team is like moving a mountain. Getting the right people on board, building capabilities & inspiring is a 24*7 job," he said.

Kellogg India’s Sumit Mathur joins Paytm as CMO

Mullen Lintas, a part of MullenLowe Lintas Group, an advertising marketing communications company, has appointed Ram Jayaraman as the chief creative officer. This appointment comes in the wake of Mullen Lintas’s quest to become a digital-first brand-building company. Jayaraman joins from Meta where he served as the creative strategist for six years.

As per LinkedIn, during his stint at Meta, he conceptualised platform-first ideas across Facebook, WhatsApp, Instagram and Messenger for India’s biggest clients and also co-created campaigns with the best creative agencies.

Jayaraman comes with an experience of 22 years where he started off as the senior creative director at JWT India. Here, he took up the responsibility of brands like RIN India (Unilever), Smirnoff, Amit Enterprises and Ahuja Constructions.

Moving on from there, he joined Grey Group as the senior executive creative director, where he took up the mandate of brands like Dell, Britannia (cakes, rusks, breads), 3M (Scotch Brite), Fortis Hospitals, Pigeon Cooking Appliances and ITC (Kitchens of India, B Natural Juices). 

Last year in November, S Subramanyeswar was promoted to the position of group chief executive officer at MullenLowe Lintas Group India. He continues to also hold the position of chief strategy officer for the MullenLowe APAC region.
